I chose a Princess cruise because of how highly recommended Princess was by many friends. I knew I did not want to add the time or price of flights to or from another port, so I chose a round trip from my local Los Angeles port. The destination was really not much of a factor in my selection. I was so impressed with the service all over the ship. I've never experienced service like this anywhere else. Everyone was so friendly, helpful, attentive and welcoming. It was amazing! The ship itself is beautiful and the room was much larger than I expected. The food was really good too. I couldn't believe the speed of the service in the restaurants on a sold out cruise. It blows my mind how they can serve so many people so fast. Everything about the cruise was top notch. The bartenders in the Good Spirits at Sea bar were truly memorable. Agus, Don and Patricio were just amazing. Their service was the best and their sense of humor had us in stitches the whole cruise. Matt "O", our cruise director really made the whole cruise enjoyable. He was so nice, friendly, knowledgeable and full of energy day and night. I can't wait to cruise with him again! Amazing crew and ship!! Read Less

It promised a short getaway and definitely lived up to it ! We were able to relax in the Spa’s Enclave. The pool there is so therapeutic, the steam and sauna rooms are a must. Then top it off by lying on the warm stone bed. I also benefited from the seaweed detox treatment and massage. For anyone who needs to rejuvenate this is the place to be. Fasted embarkation and disembarkation ever!! It was very organized and everyone along the way was helpful and so friendly. The food was delicious and always fresh. We had two great dinners in the Symphony Dining room and the rest of the time we frequented the Horizon Buffet and enjoyed the convenience and variety there. And don’t forget the delicious pizza on Deck 16! We took advantage of room service in the morning and it was always on time and exactly what we had ordered. Read Less

The ship was absolutely beautiful and very elegant, not to mention, huge and well maintained! Everything you need is conveniently found on the ship; variety of shops, restaurants and other eateries, casino, theater, spa, pools/jacuzzis, bars, cafes with specialty coffee, Internet cafe, gym, The Sanctuary, the private adult only pool area, plenty of seating throughout the entire ship on nearly every level, AND MUCH MORE... including a medical area!! They provided exceptional service from our stateroom attendant, (MARIO!!) to room service, the Horizon Buffet waiters, and every other staff member aboard the ship. There were great sights on and off board. The views were exceptional! The excursions were great, but please note, the Princess excursion options are much better than private shore ones! The best part of all, we truly were treated like royalty, which is very fitting for the "Princess" line of cruise ships! We will be back cruising again SOON!!! Read Less

We chose this cruise in order to experience the Panama Canal transit. We were welcomed at the airport and transported to the ship. Embarkment processing was completed within five minutes and disembarking from ship to shore was completed within 15 minutes. Our cabin stewart did an amazing job as well as our dining waiter. The meals were great and the main show each evening kept you well entertained. We found time to relax, read books from the library, and made new friends each day. We took advantage of excursions at each port and found them very informative and interesting. The off-road excursion was one that stood out as we traveled the back roads in Mexico and saw how corn was ground and cooked to make tortillas. The town tours provided us with the local history and background of the local areas.I would recommend this cruise for anyone desiring to experience the canal transit. Read Less

I chose this cruise because I heard it had high ratings and was a short 3 day cruise. I really enjoyed everything and the fact that it had a structured schedule of entertainment and activities. We had a great experience at Lotus spa and got a couple's massage and hair style.Every personnel was so kind, knowledgable and helped us in every way. We were very satisfied with them. I was really happy that there was 24 hour cafes and room service along with daily live music that one could dance to. All the entertainers were so talented, I was impressed! We had so much fun and danced, ate and drank a lot. We had a chance to relax while at sea. It was absolutely wonderful and my boyfriend proposed to me on the last night we were there. It was truly a special adventure as it was a special occasion and our first cruise together with the exceptional service of the Star Princess Cruise. Read Less

Four of us women friends from across the map (Toronto, Florida, San Francisco, and Vancouver) chose this cruise as an opportunity to reunite, to hang out and chill, and it exceeded all of our expectations. Originally, we booked two balcony rooms; but when PRINCESS offered us an opportunity to upgrade to a Full Suite at a discount, and we took advantage of the offer. It was completely worth it. We enjoyed welcome champagne, “high tea” one afternoon, and a gourmet breakfast one morning out on our balcony. We made use of the thermal suites in the spa. We enjoyed stellar breakfasts and dinner at Sabatini’s. We took in the comedians, a couple of shows, and then continued our celebration for a couple of additional nights in Vancouver where spring was in full bloom. The weather on the cruise was overcast, foggy, and chilly the whole time. One night, we went to sleep to the sound of the fog horn, but this did not detract from our enjoyment. I would book this cruise again — particularly for a reunion with family. Highly recommend! Thank you, PRINCESS!! Read Less

We decided we needed a break and chose to go on a three-day cruise to simply relax. The price was quite reasonable and affordable for almost any budget. We chose the three-day cruise on the Coral Princess departing Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon and docking in Vancouver BC on Wednesday morning. Both ports provided incredibly easy arrival and departure options. The Coral Princess is one of the best ships in the Princess fleet. And it is now our favorite of all the ships we've sailed. It was comfortable, welcoming and warm. The wait and cabin staff were among the best we have ever encountered. The decor was rich and inviting. The Balcony Cabin on the Caribe was comfy. Those Princess beds are the best. You can just snuggle right in. We chose Anytime Dining in the Bordeaux where the menu selections were many. One of the best appetizers on the menu is any of the chilled soups. The Horizon Court food was always fresh with lots of choices. And finally the entertainment in the Princess Theater was high quality, with some of the best singers, dancers and musicians we've ever encountered on any cruise. Read Less

Quick 3 day repositioning cruise heading north to Vancouver. Flight in to LAX was perfect since Princess has staff at the baggage pickup area. My flight came in at 9:20 am. Bought transfer to ship at baggage claim from Princess personal and waited for bus. Our luggage stayed with staff and we were taken directly to ship. On the Coral Princess ship by 11:30 am. Luggage made it onto ship without any problem & was so nice not to deal with it on bus or pier. Beautiful day in LA. Blue sky and able to sit on padded lounge chairs by the indoor pool and watch the seals swimming near the ship. Nice lunch at Horizon buffet which is at the front of the ship. Went to one production show at the Princess Theater/ front of the ship. Enjoyed the special guest singers, Princess singers and band that preformed. Went to a comedy show at the back of the ship, really like that lounge and comedy was nice with little or no profanity. Relaxing Trip. Still like to watch the Yes, No game. Anytime dining was good. For Vancouver I was in walkoff group 2 taking own luggage off. Although we were slightly late to the dock/pier, I was walking off the ship by 7:45 am. Made prior reservation with Quick Shuttle and able to catch the 9 am bus to Seattle without any problem for my flight. This reposition sailing only offered transfers to Vancouver airport. I really liked the size of the Coral Princess and thought it was a pretty ship and like it, would sail on it again. Someone mentioned no seating by the Atrium on this ship, I didn’t really go there much. Didn’t notice any smoke smell from casino which was really nice. Loved that their was always lounge chairs available to use. Read Less

We love the Royal Princess Cruise ship. We had sailed on it on a 21 day Mediterranean Cruise in 2016. Enjoy the layout of the ship, which includes the Princess Live. We were eager to try out the new Medallion Class and were were celebrating our 35th. Wedding Anniversary. One of the reasons we chose this cruise is because it finished in Vancouver. We live in nearby Point Roberts , Washington State. We were Happy to celebrate our Anniversary in San Diego, California on Cinco De Mayo. Lots of celebrations going on in Old Town, San Diego. This was the first time that the Royal Princess has been on the West Coast! Matt O’Brien was our awesome cruise director. We selected an interior cabin this time. It was super cozy. Comfortable, and clean. We had plenty of room for our clothes. We preordered waters and beers for our room. Totally convenient! Love the new Medallion Class! Ease of embarking and disembarking! Fast! Great way to order drinks! Delivered directly to you. You use your Medallion for all purchases, everywhere on board. Including the laundry room, and the slot machines! Can’t say enough! It was awesome! Entertainment was good. The comedian, AJ Jamal, was a standout! He was the entertainment for two nights! He was awesome! The food was good. The pizza was available in two locations Alfredo’s Pizzeria , where they make individual pizzas to order. They also have other Italian food available. There is NO upcharge. The pizza is outstanding. Pizza can also be found up by the pool. You can get it by the slice. Delicious pizza! We went to the movies under the stars. Popcorn is available during the movies. Omelettes are made to order for breakfast at the buffet. Freshly sliced smoked salmon and bagels daily. Steak and all kinds of eggs, cereals, pastry. Something for everyone to eat at the breakfast buffet. There were two formal nights. The second formal night had mini lobster tails and risotto. I previously lived in Maine, so I am a tad picky with my lobster. This lobster tail was extremely tiny. We ate in the Steakhouse and it was delicious, as always. It never disappoints! My husband had the rib eye steak and I had the lamb chops. Cooked to perfection. Had salad. My husband had the baked potato with toppings and I had grilled fresh asparagus and the creamed spinach. Delicious. We also had dessert. There is a $29.00 upcharge each to eat at the Crowngrill Steakhouse. I highly recommend this for an extra special evening. Pub lunch! What can I say? We look forward to pub lunch on Princess Cruises. There is NO upcharge. Always a lineup! Usually held in the Wheelhouse Pub or the Crowngrill Steakhouse. They have fish and chips with mushy peas, steak and kidney pie, bangers and mash, English Plowman’s lunch. They also have British Beers available for purchase. It is just the right amount for lunch. We thoroughly enjoy the Pub Lunch! Read Less

One more cruise to be Elite! I pick the cruise that matches the port closest to where I live and the itinerary. Seattle: The Hop on Hop off at Seattle was terrible. Many went to complain and received 50percent back. Do not recommend. San Francisco: Right across street is Street Car stop (cable, trolley) that you can take to go to Fishermans Wharf etc, or to go to San Francisco Trolley tour. Also take it within two blocks of rental car companies. Also Hertz, Enterprise, etc will reimburse you cab fare from car rental. We rented car for the day to drive to Napa. Watch out for extra $14 toll fare added to rental. Hertz AAA Discount. Enterprise thru Costco. San Diego: walk or take bicycle taxi, or taxi down to Seaport Village. 10 of our group took the Seal tour. (Duck tour.) Or book Hop on Hop off either thru ship or independently. Embarkation: New Medallion Class ship. So no preference to preferred boarding. Disembarkation in Vancouver: We took taxis, big mistake. Some took train to airport, bigger mistake. Several cruses in one day. Long line for taxis, then they kept taking the handicapped first and our line did not move until we complained that they were not rotating us. In the future we would book Princess shuttle. We like the fact that the Royal Class ships have the fresh ground coffee not the syrup. Read Less

This ship is old and is showing it's age. There were a few maintenance issues but nothing that would keep me from going again. Ship Captain Tuvo was FABULOUS!! He came to almost every meal in the dining room and greeted us. His presentations are funny and he made this cruise for us. The food and service were top notch and the crew members would greet each passenger with a smile and a greeting as we passed in the hallways. The entertainment was great I could not have had a better time. This is our 12th Princess cruise and we are looking forward to our next one. I have spoken to many passengers on our cruises and a lot of them have been on multiple cruise lines. Some like the benefits and services of another cruise line but most seem to think that Princess has the program and cruises they like best. I personally don't think you are going to find a better value based on the total package you receive on Princess. The entertainment was great and the theatre crew works hard to put on first-class shows. The food and service were marvellous and the deserts are so good it is hard to eat just one. The Excursion crew does a great job of letting you know what there is to do and see in every port. I WANT TO GO AGAIN! Read Less

My husband and I loved the Alaska ports and the sea days. The staff and crew were very accommodating. The food was very good, also. We enjoyed the entertainment and lectures about Alaska. The highlight of our cruise was our vow renewal with Captain Tuvo. Our cabin was nice and Madee our steward did an excellent job. We found embarkation to be a complicated process. One thing princess could improve on is to have more of a variety of food in the Horizon Buffet. It was good but not much of a variety. Also, it takes too long from start to finish in the main dining room to eat. The different kind of music that was played around the ship was pleasant. Matt Baxter, the guitar player and vocalist, was fantastic. This was our first cruise with Princess and we would most likely sail with them again. Debarkation was much easier than Embarkation. It would be great if karaoke was offered every day. Read Less

Going to Alaska was on my Bucket list. Also going from L.A., no airports to mess with. Ship is older, but well maintained. Food in the Horizon court was average to to above average. The main dining room food was for the most part was very good, but our waiters were the Best. Joel Delfin was our Waiter and will be in the Crown Grill from now on. Ask for him, you won't be disappointed. Jr. Waiter Gavrilo Radonjic was just as good. Alaska and Canada were beautiful. Skagway and Victoria were my favorite ports. As others have mentioned, rent a car and see the sites on your own, especially if you have 2 or more in your group. We did in Juneau and Skagway. In Victoria, we used a Pedicab to see the sites. Our driver/tour guide was Chris with Victoria Pedicabs. He was excellent. He has been doing tours of Victoria for the last 17 years and was very knowledgeable of the city. I also thought his rates were very reasonable. Email him at cphamel1@gmail.com and he will pick you up at the ship. Overall, very happy and would definitely sail on Princess again. Read Less

We have taken a Princess Cruise to the Mexican Riviera six times. Have very much enjoyed The Crown Princess and The Ruby Princess but, Wow, The Royal Princess with the Medallion technology is fantastic! Having the Medallion streamlines so much and quickens the lines, waiting periods, and simplifies getting into your cabin, ordering meals and drinks, making purchases, pretty much every activity on board, and that means casino gaming is even easier, if you are so inclined. A noticeable improvement is consideration for those traveling with wheelchairs and walkers. The entire ship is navigable and that includes The Sanctuary. Previous trips have made The Sanctuary inaccessible because there was no elevator that went up there and even worse, no bathroom. Finally, that has all changed with elevator service and a pretty large accessible restroom. My favorite part of this trip was the fantastic Cruise Director and his team. I always think I have the best C.D. but Matt O’ Brien is in a class by himself. Funny, clever, inventive and his enthusiasm was inspirational to jump in and join whatever was going on. His team of Assistant Crew Directors has excellent hosts with many fun games and shows. We will do this trip again! Read Less

This cruise was provided by Harrah's casino. This is my 1st time to board the Royal Princess. I did my pre-boarding process on line. On the day of my departure, i still have to stay in long lines. I observed some passengers were attended first who are not on the line. The ushers/usherettes did not provide any explanation why other passengers were provided special treatment as i see that they are not handicapped or need special assistance. Upon boarding, i went to my cabin and was surprised to see a very spacious room. My sister and i stayed in room A 516 on deck 12. Our room is so clean and have lots of space for my personal items. The bed is comfortable and have a high definition TV. Jovito, our cabin crew, greeted us with a big smile and asked if we need anything. He fixed our bed 2x a day and always leave chocolates for us to enjoy before bedtime. He always make sure that we have everything we need before he retire at night. Our dining experience is also excellent. Ian Virgenes is an amazing guy. He always make sure that we are happy and satisfied with the food and his service. He is an asset to your company. We always look forward to see him during breakfast on deck 16 and dinner at Concerto dining Room. I also want to acknowledge Karen, Freddie and so many others who made our dine in experience on deck 16 a memorable one. The food is excellent! Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate 50 years of friendship of our husbands, dating back to their Navy days in Italy. We chose this week because we figured it was not a "Spring Break" week, and the few children on board were well-behaved. The Royal Princess met all of our expectations. It has attractive and elegant public areas. It took a day or two to figure out how to get around the ship because of the central piazza area - there are some decks where you have to go up or down in order to get from the forward to the aft part of the ship. There were about 3500 passengers on the ship, but most of the time it didn't feel crowded. From the moment we arrived at LAX to the moment we left, we were greeted and taken care of by Princess employees. Our transfers to and from the ship and the embarkation/disembarkation process were very smooth and efficient with plenty of friendly personnel to direct passengers. Our cabin, aft-facing E-733, was smallish, but perfectly adequate, and was well-maintained by Emmanuel, our cabin steward. There was plenty of room for clothing and toiletries. If hair care is important to you, bring your own products, since there is only "shampoo-conditioner" provided. We had some trouble with the toilet not flushing occasionally, and there was some minor soot on the balcony. However, the cabin was nice and quiet, and we enjoyed the aft view. There were lots of loungers all over the ship, so it was never a problem to find a place to relax. We chose Anytime Dining and enjoyed our meals in both of the MDRs and the Crown Grill and Alfredo's. We never had to wait for a table in the MDRs. The buffet was extensive - massive, really - with many choices. We were pleased to see so many staff members keeping the buffet clean and refreshed, and there were many servers in the buffet dining area clearing tables and serving beverages. As far as entertainment goes, Matt O is an enthusiastic and energetic CD, and his staff members were all very fun and friendly. We played a lot of trivia games and they had a nice variety of topics. As often happens, there were either many enjoyable activities that happened at the same time, or occasionally there were no events that appealed to us. However, that was a good reason to do some reading or lounge by the pool or walk a few laps on the track. The production shows were good, if not outstanding. We particularly enjoyed the presentation by Paul Burrell, Princess Diana's assistant. Service from every employee (stewards, bartenders, wait staff, cleaning staff, front desk) was polite and friendly. We took shore excursions in each port, and I expect I'll be able to report on those below. In brief, we really enjoyed our half-day sailing experience in Cabo, but thought the Mazatlan City Highlights was just OK, and we couldn't really recommend the Best of Puerto Vallarta tour. The tour guides on both excursions were fine, but the PV tour included a long drive over rough roads, and we got back to the ship more than 2 hours later than we expected. We absolutely would take another Princess Cruise - this was our third cruise with Princess. We really enjoyed it! Read Less

We have completed a Coastal California cruise previously and had such a nice time we wanted to take the cruise again. We loved the Island Princess. It is a smaller ship but great for those cruisers who like to meet people and enjoy a smaller ship experience. Lots of wood used which made it seem warm and inviting. Entertainment was really good with a standing ovation one night for one producation. There is a Sabatinis and Blue Bayou Cafe on board. We ate at Sabatinis and had a good meal and wonderful service. There were lots of activitities including Harmonica lessons and Quilling as well as bingo. The ports were one of the reasons we chose this cruise. With Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Astoria and the beautiful Victoria BC one can't help but have a great time on shore. I recommend Butschart Gardens in Victoria. For our 50th anniversary, we took a 12-day Princess cruise to Alaska originating in Los Angeles. From the moment we stepped aboard the 5-star Ruby Princess, we were surrounded by helpful, smiling faces of staff. Our balcony room gave us a wonderful view and fresh air throughout our cruise. The bed was SO comfortable with cozy Egyptian linens. Our cabin Steward, Christopher, was so helpful and attentive. The ship holds about 3500 guests and about 1500 very service oriented staff- which is a nice size and ratio. The restaurant meals were fresh and fabulous with very attentive waiters. There were fresh food options 24- hours a day! We enjoyed the flexibility of "anytime" dining. The entertainment was nonstop. We especially enjoyed the nightly musical shows in the Princess Theater. They have very talented performers- bands, singers and dancers. The different lounges also had good entertainment and often dancing. The casino is spacious and has lots of variety, including blackjack tournaments which are really fun! The gym provides nice machines with an amazing view! We especially enjoyed the tram excursion in Juneau and the train in Scagway. We plan to fly to Anchorage on our next Alaskan trip to explore the more northern regions and to do a land tour to Denali. We highly recommend Princess cruises without reservation! We look forward to our next Princess cruise!! The 12 days flew by!! Read Less

Stewards in all 3 cabins very good. Callie and the entertainment crew kept us entertained all day and evening, such energy. New carpets in corridors and Marketplace furniture etc great improvement after dry dock visit. Internet fast most of the time and all wired up for Medallion class. There were 6 of us on this cruise with two under 6 years old. One of us had platinum status so we boarded immediately after checking in. The food was excellent on board. My medallion steak on the 2nd night was the highlight of eating. Even better than the rib eye at the Crown Grill. We only got off of the ship at Mazatlan for 30 minutes. We stayed on board with the little ones playing in the pool Things that I think Princess got right: Concerts at sea on the big screen. Neat concept. Excellent sound system . MUTS except it was cold. Even the blankets weren't enough. Negatives: This is the first time I felt a ship was crowded. People were everywhere. Shows were packed. Sometimes it felt good just to go to our balcony to get away from the noise. The walking flow in the ship is designed poorly. There are several places in the buffet , pool areas, and deck six shopping areas where you get funneled down to single file each direction. If a waiter has a tray you have to stand aside to let them pass. Or if there are are slow walkers, the traffic backs up. On our last night I ordered a hamburger off the left side of the menu and asked if to be cooked rare. They asked for my room number because I asked for rare. Then it came well done. Too late to ask for it to be cooked properly. Everybody else at the table was eating. Disembarkation was easy as we carried out luggage off. Read Less

The entertainment onboard was outstanding, Princess theater shows are amazing and the shows at the Piazza are great, one thing they had in this trip that I have never seen before, renewing of wedding vows, my husband and joined other couples and it was very romantic. This cruise was exactly what I expected. Perfecto! I can't think of any situation where I was disappointed. The crew was always helpful and friendly. I got to know many of them closely as I frequented many of the same places. They knew me by the second night. Always a smile. The room was great. I had a Mini Suite. (I read a really bad review of the mini suite on the Royal, I swear those passengers HAD to be on another ship!). It was great! I traveled with my 15 year old Daughter and 12 Year old son. They had an amazing time. They got to know a ton of people their age thru the different programs Princess has to offer.I have ZERO complaints. Embarkation was a breeze as was disembarkation. The Internet is as fast as I have ever used on a ship. Never had an issue with streaming anything. Not that I was on there to watch TV, but you can if you want. Food was EXCELLENT. Service was excellent and the whole vibe on the ship was positive. Speaking of the ship.....the Royal Princess is an AMAZING Ship!!!! She is superb in every way. I love there is no lame go-carts or climbing walls or slides. It is just classy...period. I will never go below this If I want all that non-sense I can get it cheaper at home. I saw the Norwegian Bliss in port on Puerto Vallarta and I almost puked. That isn't cruising. That is a Malibu Grand Pris Arcade at a HUGE premium. If that is your thing have fun. No way for me. I'll stick wit Princess who has been doing it better and for MUCH longer than almost everyone. Good luck to you all and may you all be safe on any cruise you choose. PEACE!!! Read Less

I chose this because of the ports, two new Mexican ports on the west side. However, they were disappointing. Cabo required a tender and we didn’t get on the beach until almost 3 PM! Also, to pay for a ship excursion or a private beach club was $100 each, and the public beach was crammed with vendors so not pleasant. Water was freezing. In Mazatlan I had booked the salsa and salsa, which I had planned to do for years. It was $90 a person, fine, my daughter enjoyed it, but there was actually no men to dance with and no free time to dance at the end. We only had an hour to use the lovely resort pool and beach, which was not long enough, and the price included unlimited margaritas but how much tequila can one drink at 10 o’clock in the morning? Puerto Vallarta was great, as always. The ship was very clean, and the staff was very polite, professional, attentive, but almost too formal. I would have like more interaction with the crew, and please provide some male dancers! There were literally hundreds of women wanting to dance at all the lounges and dance events, but only one or two men. Pretty ship, very clean, enough events but not enough dance shows. Also, the evening dining conflicted with several of the shows so we missed some. I’m getting on and off was efficient, baggage handled well, really nothing was crowded and in fact most of the bars and lounges were empty most of the time. The Zumba & dance classes we are very well attended, so hello, have more space and time for those! Read Less
