No shuttles. Did independent exploring. Rickety bridge to climb to get across the main road at the port. 1.3km walk up into town. It rained, a lot. Two local beers and two slices of cake cost £26. Pick n Mix in the sweet shop opposite was really cheap. I bought two bottles of own brand cola from there too and the bag split and they smashed. Town also had a shop that sold cheese.

Late substitution after 2nd or 3rd itinerary change - a lucky change. Beautiful medieval town about a 19-15 minute walk from cruise terminal. There’s an excellent historical museum and a very unexpected and pretty garden. Cute, quaint, historical, compact - perfect port stop!
Free wifi in the small terminal, Password posted on a board inside. ...
Visby was an add on because of SPB. We walked off the ship and wandered around the town on our own. It was a short walk from the port. Again another charming medieval city. ...
One of the reasons we booked this cruise was to get the opportunity to visit the island and experience Gotland's Medieval Week (Sweden's answer to the Renaissance Faire)
This is Sweden's largest island, has a long, rich history, interesting geologic features and the largest viking hoard of silver was found on this island Besides paying to enter the fest, we also hit the local history museum ...
Visby- a favorite spot for us. You have never seen a medieval festival till you have been here. The only ones not in authentic wear and gear was tourists from the ship. So amazingly authentic and not the hype of festivals we americans are used to. We were very disappointed the ship left so early so we couldn’t see the evening games. cute town easily walkable.

On our own took the long walk into town to attend Medieval Week, an annual festival attended by 100's of people from nearby towns in period costumes. RCI didn't even mention that this festival was being held. Shame on them. ...
