All I did was get on/off the ship. The terminal was barely controlled chaos. Carnival needed more people giving clear directions.

No control of traffic flow. Have two cruise terminals using one entrance. No seperation of people getting on or off. Porters are more interested in getting luggage off of busses than being available to those driving. No organization to the luggage drop off. People parked three across, so they block the exit for those who actually did the right thing and pulled up to the curb. But hey I don't care about anybody behind me. I'll just stop and block everybody. I will give them some credit, don't know what they changed since we sailed back in Feb. but we were one of the last ones off the ship this time and had cleared immagation and customs by 11:30. Last time we didn't get cleared until 12:15 and there were still at least 1500 people behind us. Read Less

The city was terrible. There was a lot of crime in the areas around the port, and guides from there on our way down had nothing but bad things to say about things that have happened there recently. We picked Galveston to sail from due to the history and the ghost stories from the local hotels and area. Transportation to Galveston from Houston is challenging to find and it is very expensive. The porters are very friendly and helpful. The process was a little hectic. We purchased Faster To The Fun which I would suggest as I believe it cut down on the amount of time spent waiting. My grandmother has trouble walking and uses a walker and I wish we would have taken them up on the offer for a wheel chair. It is a very long walk. Read Less

We had a cruise line provided bus from our hotel in Houston. Everything was easy when we got to the pier and we onboard the ship in a remarkably short time.

My only complaint on the excursions was the crowds. There were too many people around to allow you to participate in the events. Read Less

We spent the night in Galveston the day before our cruise. We walked the beach, but didn't do much because we were tired from our travels. We'd love to go back to Galveston and explore more sometime. On our return, we stopped at NASA on the way back to the airport. It is halfway between Galveston and Houston airport. For a small fee, NASA will store your luggage while you tour the museum. It was interesting and we'd all like to go back when we have more time. We were unable to experience the tram tour because of time, but from what I understand, that's the best part. Read Less

Galveston is beautiful. The only drawback to this port is that it's 90 minutes away from Houston. I booked my own hotels and my own transportation. If I cruise from this port again, I will let RCCL manage my transfer and lodging.
