San Pedro is easy for embarkation. We stayed at a Doubletree by Hilton (Hotel Maya) in Long Beach and it was great for the pre-cruise evening.

I live nearby, so I would highly recommend going to the Aquarium of the Pacific, Disneyland, California Adventure, the Queen Mary, and Knott's Berry Farm. Skip the whole Hollywood scene, you will be seriously disappointed. The beaches are beautiful, but the traffic getting anywhere is a mess. Always allow more travel time than expected. Read Less

Really you are in San Pedro Ca. A wonderful city with plenty to see and do within walking distance. The fish market is a vibrant hub with many food stalls, entertainment and of course some of the freshest food you will find anywhere. San Pedro Brew Pub also rustles up some wonderful food and tasty in house brewed beers along side many guest taps. There is entertainment some evenings and is a busy place. There are also several upscale Bistro style place. There is a Crowne Plaza hotel walking distance from the Pier that also has a shuttle service every 30 minutes. The USS Iowa is a floating museum next door. Uber will get you to the Airport or into LA for around 30 bucks. If your in LA for a few days get the Hop on Hop Off full system pass for at least two of those days. 8 different routes will take you near just about anything you could want to see and as we found you can not fit it all in one day as it is so extensive. We had purchased a Carnival transfer. The lady who was organizing it moved us out to the cement island where the busses load because the driver said he would be right there. We stood between traffic for 45 min before he showed up. Since the weather was a little chilly and overcast, it was not super comfortable to stand out there waiting but she was afraid to move us back over since he said he would be right there. No win situation for her. Read Less

The port is actually at San Pedro, about 1 1/2 hours drive to Los Angeles. As we had to be back on board at 3.00pm, there was not enough time to get into LA and back with space to look around. I walked into the local historic area, but as nothing was open before 10 or 11am, there was not a lot to see. I walked along the waterfront where the USS Iowa was open for inspection (entrance fee) if you wanted to do that. I just enjoyed a little 'land' time, and returned to the ship. Read Less

Embarkation was awful. Two other passengers aboard our bus didn’t speak up about needing wheelchairs. We did. When the wheelchairs came, those two people were given our wheelchairs and we had to wait for other wheelchairs to show up. The wheelchairs we got were only wide enough for a small adult. Very uncomfortable. Read Less

San Pedro has been been and gone so many times you never know where in the cycle you will find it. We stayed at the Doubletree, which was far from town (with a shuttle, though) but we had a nice walk to the Cabrillo Sea Shore. Sadly, the Aquarium is only open strange hours and there is a strange absence of restaurants/dives near the lovely yacht harbor. You can't go wrong on a sunny California day, though. Read Less

Port in San Pedro sucks! It’s far from everywhere. Tours in LA sucked too. We took üBer to Long Beach and visited both the Queen Mary and the Aquarium of the Pacific. Both great!
