The background on this trip was the family vacation we haven't taken since our kids hit their teens and now both are graduated and continuing their educations, not living at home anymore, and thus this was supposed to be a trip with our two adult age children 23/21 like we have never done before. A trip we would cherish as time together going forward will be nothing but precious....... My wife, who used to be a travel agent, and I have been on over 20 cruises so were well versed in our younger days on cruising, but have not done so in over 10 years. Once the ships got so big, the itineraries didn't seem to ever change and the product just wasn't as glamorous as the days before the magaliners we decided to hang it up for a while until the family got older and we could afford a higher-end vacation and this is what we thought we booked......this is where the two stories begin..... We chose Celebrity because of past experience years ago and the more adult style experience it was to offer.....we chose this 10 day cruise as we have never traveled to most of the stops and have never been with our children to Europe as a family before....and after putting two through college we had to try to cut some corners...so we booked a quad cabin....family veranda and figured we could deal in one space given the amount of time we would be off the ship on this busy trip. Before I go further I just want to say that despite the negatives that will follow, the ship was the perfect size for us, though older it was clean, well kept, the crew and staff were smiling, attentive, and it truly was what we expected from the Cruise Lines in regards to the service associated with Celebrity. The itinerary was superb. We also found the food better then we had anticipated given the size of ships these days....there were never lines of people to fight, never an issue finding a table, lounge chair or seat in a show and embarkation, tendering, returning aboard, and disembarkation were as smooth as could be so to that end Celebrity gets a 10/10.... So what say you was wrong with our trip???? To begin with, we found the booking process to be a real "cheapish" experience...kind of like buying a car.....it seemed that once we booked the trip we had to call several times to get the rate/perks adjusted based on the different promotions that would come out just days after originally booking or changing something....it was like trying to keep track of airfare...and was very confusing....even to us seasoned cruisers back in the day. And the thing that really pissed me off was the email I received to "BID" on a cabin upgrade....I found this to be extremely low-end for such a high-end business. This left a very poor taste in our mouth before ever leaving given what this trip was costing soup to nuts.....we can't believe the cost of drink packages and the confusing way they are presented, the internet fees for what was almost no service....they consider internet a perk in this day and age and half the time we couldn't do our work if needed or make calls to friends using Wi-fi calling....it should be free for everyone in this time of our lives....more on the drink package issue later...... More background....we chose to travel at this time of year due to the fact we figured there would be very few children on this ship on a June 9 sailing from Europe and we never expected babies and small children on a 10 day port packed European sailing....boy were we wrong!! We arrived at the ship and boarded easily and we found our nice sized family, veranda stateroom with our very nice attendant....we were exhausted as we had to travel to the ship in Rome the day of sailing and so really needed to get a nap in before dinner.....this is where the problems began..... The family Verandas on the back of the ship have two pull-out type sofa beds to go along with the twin/king really beds....my son is 5'11'' and my daughter 5'8" so no one could sleep without their sofa being out and made.....when we got in our cabin we immediately tried to pull out the beds and the smaller one wouldn't come out...the fabric was all torn and the side of one armrest was coming apart from the back of the couch....mildly annoyed we couldn't do this ourselves we had to get our cabin steward and he informed us the bed was bent so had to pulled out a special way....still exhausted and wanting to be able to sleep when we wanted they called someone to fix the bent framing and the head of housekeeping came and told us that the next day while we were in port they would remove the furniture and reupholster it and fix it properly....he was great...Claudio and they did as promised but it was a little off putting to not be able to get comfy right off the bat..... Well....from here the problems got worse......we had just all laid down to nap and as soon as we drifted off our neighbors got to their cabin....all 5 of them...thats right all 5!! Parents with 3 children under the age of 8 one of whom was under a year old.....the fighting, crying, screaming from parents etc...started instantly and I just for the life of me couldn't fathom a family of this age on a trip like this......I still can't.....needless to say we immediately reached out to the staff about a room change and as usual "No Rooms at the Inn"....we were stuck with this circus next to us for 10 days...and it was a circus....baby crying in middle of the night...wall so thin I could hear every word said in their cabin when I laid in bed....they had breakfast delivered to their cabin every morning 6:30-7:00AM and never once showed any concern for their level of noise...babies you can't control but toddlers you can to some degree and they couldn't.....my two children were so upset being 23/21 and not being able to sleep-in was brutal.....to make matters worse....they would leave their room by 7:30 and their alarm clock would go off at 8AM....I had to leave them a note on their door about this..... This scenario of this young family next door really is what drove so much of our negativity about the cruise...the lack of sleep magnified every experience and again....I feel this was no place for children this age and in speaking to so many older passengers when they heard our story they couldn't believe it either.....now this family was part of a bigger family....we actually met their parents (the grandparents) of the little ones on a tender....I offered to switch rooms so they could be closer to their family and they just laughed...they knew what would happen if they were next to their kin.....they also had two other grandchildren on board one of whom was a newborn we met on a train in France....I'm sorry Grandparents..but why would you bring 5 children under the age of 8 on a trip like this...to me this is selfish.....I don't care what circumstances there may be in life and all looked very very healthy so I don't believe this was a bucket-list family cruise for them..... We had several meetings with the cruise personal about the issues we were experiencing and although they sent us flowers champagne, paid for dinner one night and ended up giving us a nominal certificate towards another trip some day $2500 it in no way could make up for this over $12,000 vacation......they actually said they would not reach out to the family and that we shouldn't confront them either......we asked for our internet packages be refunded as the service was terrible and they wouldn't do this which we thought was pretty cheap.....enough of "The Children of the Corn".....very, very disappointing..... Now for the other issues we had.... 1) Drink and internet packages/perks are a suck job...the fact that there is plastic all over the bottom of the ocean they use plastic water bottles in the restaurant and that if you don't show you have a drink package you get tap water......it was like showing your passport to fly and ridiculous to have a waiter pour water form a small plastic water bottle.....between the drinks and internet packages/perks this is a very, very sad consumer experience!!! 2) So Canyon Ranch runs the Spa on Celebrity.....well, we've been to Canyon Ranches on land and have been pampered to death....well, not the case on this ship....staff very ordinary and we paid for the "Persian Garden Experience" with the "Adult Only" pool area.....well three times my wife came out of the shower to find young children with their parent using the toilet in the locker room and one day a woman was breast feeding a baby right by the Adult Only pool....there was no policing of this policy and it was far from Canyon Ranch quality. 3) Dining room experience was not the service we were used to.....now I know I said the food was better then we thought it would be, but there is so much energy wasted on figuring out who has what drink package by the servers, sommeliers, etc....that to get more then 1 glass of wine at dinner was like pulling teeth....or getting a second drink....you pay for these packages but yet they bog down the entire service/experience you expect in the dining room....this was very, very annoying..... 4) Casino...staff friendly and pleasant, but Casino was small, and opened later then stated every night and not just by a few minutes.....I would have liked to have been able to utilize the Casino more..... 5) gift shops.....basically felt the shopping onboard was lame and wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't part of the ship...and liquor store never opened once the entire 10 day cruise. 6) Shore excursions don't seem to be worth the money...we had private tours arranged in several ports and did our own thing in others and saved hundreds of dollars doing this and felt we had a great experience in all ports we stopped in. In Sete France it cost us 50 Euro total to take the train to Mountpellier but if we did the tour for 4 it would have been close to $1000 Staff, Ship, Entertainment, Ports 10/10....over all experience and discomfort factor due to the above 3/10..... We chose this cruise because of the ports, thinking it would be great way to travel to these destinations without having pack and unpack. Our first impression of the ship was good, considering the negative reviews of the ship. All areas of the ship were kept clean and in good condition. Our cabin (9126) was on level 9, a good level to access the pool area and Buffet, but a bad area as it’s directly below this high traffic area. At all hours of the morning, day and nights, there is continual noise of trolley’s being rolled around above, and items being dropped on the floor. A few days into the cruise they had to perform maintenance on our bathroom (hot water issues with neighbouring rooms) which extended into the early evening. This was a bit of an inconvenience as we weren’t able to easily get ready for the evening with our friends, however guest services tried their best to make this as little a hassle for us as possible. The cabin problems persisted for a few days afterwards, and the staff did well to minimise the impact on us. However, considering this is Sold as a 5 star cruise, it really cheapened the overall experience for us, which is disappointing considering this was our second cruise with this company. As with any cruise, there was plenty of food. The selection was great and the service in the main dining areas was to the normal celebrity standard. The entertainment on the ship was great. They had a couple of guest acts that were exceptional. Although we chose this cruise for its ports, it turned out to be a negative as there were so many of them. With some of them (Toulon) a long way from anything of interest. Tip, research and book tours well in advance so that you are not left in a port with nothing to do. In Toulon in particular it was near impossible to get a cab to the main town centre, which wasn’t much to look at anyway. Read Less

Recently returned from a 10 night cruise from Rome to Barcelona in June on the Constellation. We have been on this ship once before to India and Asia about 2 years ago and really enjoyed it, unfortunately this time although we enjoyed the ports of call and to be fair thought the aqua class dining was still good and the staff overall worked hard to please the rest of the experience though was very average. The entertainment on board overall was hit and miss, the buffet restaurant was chaotic it was quantity over quality. The ship is need of a refurbishment which we understand is happening soon, the public areas were well worn and shabby. But the biggest disappointment was our cabin, we were in an aqua A1 which had a fab balcony overlooking the rear of the ship but numerous issues including poor water pressure, some evenings the shower would not function, broken drawers, thread bare sofa. Also anyone that books a cabin in this area needs to be aware it is just under the big cinema screen which plays a movie four times a day with booming sound, it was seriously annoying if you want a bit of piece & quiet, one evening it was going until midnight. We have travelled with Celebrity numerous times previously but feel the quality of previous trips has declined and they are not a 5 star operation in any way now unfortunately. Read Less

First time in a Millennium class ship, not overtly impressed. Needed a refurb and the layout of some areas like the buffet, elevators, main parlor were small and odd. I'll definitely make sure I'm on a solstice or edge class next. I enjoyed Blue as we usually do concierge class. The wine selection by the glass even for premium is seriously lacking...the wines were poor and cheap. I missed Murano. I also found the constant upsell annoying and constant. I found the guest services staff a bit rude at times. I enjoyed the change in aqua class but I'm not sure it's worth the extra money, but it was nice to try. I really enjoyed the staff at Blu and the itinerary was good with only one sea day. I would recommend the cruise maybe just not the ship itself. We didn't do any celebrity cruises excursions but booked many good ones on our own. Read Less

I enjoyed the people I met on the cruise. I found the service from the staff to have been wonderful. The ship is clean and well maintained. Most of the entertainment was good; however, It wasn't horrible; it was just not great. Food was good, but to get great food, one has to eat in specialty restaurants. Bottled water, soda, and juice is now an extra, and the constant marketing of restaurants, Internet packages, and drink packages is annoying. In the past, Guest Relations would confirm your return flight. Now, unless you have purchased the Internet package, one must pay $34 for an hour of Internet usage to spend the 5-10 minutes it takes to log on to the airline and reconfirm the flight. I find that kind of nickel and diming annoying. Had I been a first-time cruiser, perhaps I would not feel so strongly, as I would not know any better. As for the ports of call, I enjoyed most, but the level of enjoyment was tempered by the crowding in some ports, especially the beautiful Santorini, where tourism is out of control. And despite the crowds in most ports, our tour guides told us that this is "low season" and the the overcrowding that we experienced was nothing compared to what it will be like over the summer. God help those traveling then. Had a good time and will not travel again with Celebrity, I wish I did not feel as though I constantly had to shake the piggy bank every day for what should be just routine service. Read Less

This ship is in need of an upgrade. We were Aqua class so had access to Blu restaurant. The staff were excellent but the food somewhat disappointing, repetative and the vegetables for the whole 2 weeks were the same - carrots, cauliflour! The self service restaurant was dreadful. Heaven help any non-meat eaters or vegetarians. Pasta with tomato sauce, vegetable pizza, salad bar - same every day, occasionally there were curried vegetables on the Curry station, dreadful selection and poorly cooked. Fish was always in a sauce and dried out. Itinerary - we went to India & Sri Lanka. The trip sounded wonderful. We were also supposed to visit Abu Dabi. From Dubai we travelled to Abu Dabi overnight, arrived early in the morning - had to disembark ship by 8.30 am and were then promptly driven by coach back to Abu Dabi to catch a flight. We would have been better staying in Dubai overnight rather than the supposedly day in Abu Dabi. There is no launderette available for passengers on Board only expensive laudry service. Entertainment - dreadful. The theatre occasionally had some good artists performing. Unfortunately, the new band headed by a Trumpet player who thought he was the star of the shows - just played so loudly that the artists had to scream in order to try and be heard above the band. Very little on offer in the form of deck games. You could throw a bean bag into a whole on a tiny board! They have a large Basketball pitch which is hardly used where other deck games could be available eg shuttle board, deck coits etc. Shopping - extensive area for shops with drab items and highly priced unless you attend one of 'special' events. Generally this was a very disappointing trip. We have travelled with Celebrity before on the Eclipse which was of much better standard. This trip would put us off using Celebrity again. Read Less

We did this cruise because it included a land tour of the The Golden Triangle, which was fabulous. We have been on four celebrity cruises, so we felt confident in booking this one. Firstly the pros : Overall the staff were very friendly The ship was clean and tidy The entertainment was very good some nights When in port going ashore was run quite smoothly The pool area was kept clean and tidy Announcements were kept to a minimum Cons: The library was a disgrace, it is so minimal, nothing to read. Lack of meaningful activities, we are completely over trivia, bingo. Putting competitions ect. Several people complained to us that they were bored, it was time to go home they said. The upselling is tedious and cheapens the brand I ordered drinks at the pool bar, they were so awful I never repeated thay again. Drinks at the reflection bar were quite acceptable. We always look forward to the last night to enjoy the lobster tail. When it was served to us we were appalled, the majority of the shell contained some sort of filling which was inedible, no lobster flesh. We sent our meal back uneaten, shame on Celebrity, if you are cost cutting don't put lobster on the menu ! I think Celebrity have forgotten who their core market are, after many cruises I can see a large section is made up of baby boomers and older who would enjoy a lot more activities of enrichment than they are being offered. At certain times of the day tea, coffee and water were only available at the end of the Ocean view Cafe on level ten. Read Less

We have have been traveling a fair bit for the past few decades. India and Sri Lanka have always been part of our to-go list but only wanted to do it on a cruise because we did not want to stay locally. Imagine our delight when we found this route. We have been to the other places included - Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Oman but we still joined a couple of the tours to revisit these wonderful places. Celebrity Constellation is a very tidy ship. The staff on board including our cabin steward made sure it was kept immaculate. Not once did I see plates or rubbish stacked anywhere. The ship is old but you will be surprised that we never saw any rust or dilapidated flooring, walls etc. Furniture - in the public and dining places were all in very good condition. The biggest downfall of this cruise were the shore excursions. The choices they gave were basically not interesting - just driving around the cities, having a few stops for pictures and a bit of shopping in the local filthy markets. The descriptions of the tours are not well prepared and often misleading. India is a place where people in their 50s visit. They let you walk and walk in the afternoon but they dont say that in the description of the tours. I was in two tours where guests complained to the guide why we have been walking for over 2 hours and worse, walking around in circles in those crowded streets. My husband and I thought it was just us having a whinge privately until we actually heard a couple of the other guests call the attention of the guides. Also, the places they chose to offer more often than not had no historical significance or mildly put, just useless and not interesting for the ordinary traveler. I have heard of other stories where they sent them to filthy plantation sites that did not even have any water. My husband and I think those who prepared and selected the tours on offer did not take their job seriously. I think they just came up with the list without even visiting or trying out these tours themselves. The experience we had with these tours have forced us to re-evaluate our future bookings with Celebrity. We compared the shore excursions being offered by other cruiseliners from the same port. Unfortunately, we found out that Celebrity does offer the poorest type of shore excursions for the other ports of our future cruises. People go on a cruise to see things and not just stay in the cabins. Hence, shore excursions are important. Another thing, we did not like in Celebrity Constellation is the limited number of places to dine. It was a 15 day cruise. Obviously, you cannot expect us to dine at the Blu ( for Aqua Class passengers) the whole time. They only had the main dining room ( San Marco), the Oceanview Buffet and the 3 specialty restaurants, the Tuscan Grill ( never changed its menu) , QSine ( food is truly horrible here) and the SUshi place. I have been used to ships with having at least 8 restaurants on offer. It is not the ship's fault but I think it is worth mentioning in order to avoid disappointment. The Oceanview buffet is were 90% of the passengers have their lunch. Choices are abundant but they seem to taste the same and are often cold. There were days when the food was actually great. The Entertainment is another disappointment. We thought the performers were auditioning for a job when the ship docked. The Cabin was okay except for the fact that the ship only had 5 movies on offer and was played on rotation. Hence by Day 6 you will have the video on Day 1 on offer again. You can opt to rent a movie. With Princess and Norwegian, if you are in this cabin class ( which is one step lower than the suites) you get a wide selection of movies. You can forget the TV unless you can stand 16 days of Fox News. In summary, you need to really do your research when joining a cruise of this type. It was not the worst cruise we ever were on BUT it could have been heaps better if our host pointed us to the right direction in order to see the better side of what India has to offer. The service we received from everyone from the cabin attendant, the restaurants, room service, stores, guest service, etc is one of the best we have experienced in a cruise liner. Read Less

This cruise was on a great promotional offer just over a year ago and the itinerary looked really interesting so we booked. The ship is dated and desperate for a refit which is happening soon we are told - it's really needed. The layout of the Oceanview Cafe is pretty awful but dictated by the ship structure; having to do a large lap of the track to see what's on offer is a bit of a pain - hopefully the refit will improve this. The ship lacks a bit of atmosphere at times, the piped music is mainly aimed at the elderly audience and could do with being more lively. How about playing some Bollywood when at the Indian ports during breakfast? The places we visited (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Cochin, New Mangalore, Goa and Mumbai) were all excellent and interesting. Celebrity are relentless in their pursuit of additional sales and crossed the line in my opinion; during the cruise they presented information about ports of call. Part of these made strong suggestions that India was somewhat unsafe and that robbery or being conned was likely; speakers told 'personal stories' of 'anecdotal' accounts in an attempt to scaremonger passengers into booking with Celebrity excursions. For this reason we did not book with Celebrity excursions at all. We used private local tour operators, online booking with great communication and the quality was excellent. They charge less than Celebrity and you see much more with a personal level of service, I really recommend this to enhance your visits to India. We used Magic Tours and Dream Tours Mumbai, both met us at the ship or port gate - really easy, car with driver and an English speaking tour guide. Costs varied from $50 to $115 per person for a group of three depending on what was included; all were private and exclusive to to our group and included private chef cooking on a houseboat trip to a really in depth and intimate tour of Mumbai (Dream Tours Mumbai - check TripAdvisor for review). Entertainment was hit and miss but there is a lot of live music which is excellent and needs to be maintained please. There were 4 or 5 productions by the onboard team and one or two were very missable and low quality, otherwise acceptable - previous cruises have been better. Food is good overall and service was mostly good though the sommeliers were not very prompt or attentive on this ship. We went Concierge Class on deck 8 - this added some nice benefits including a bottle of bubbly, helipad visit and galley tour. We would go on this tour again, mainly for the ports of call and the people we met on shore. All really kind, helpful and happy. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary. We stayed in Abudhabi for 3 nights in a hotel prior to boarding the ship. Boarding was chaos because Celebrity had given strict instruction that we needed to take 4 copies of our visas and 2 copies of our passport information. On arrival we were instructed to give a copy of our passport information to embarcation team and not our passport. The embarcation team promptly demanded our passports as they make their own copies and told us they did not require ours. We then proceeded to the check in desk where we were asked for our celebrity express pass. We informed them that we were not able to check in on their web site. We were then told don't worry most people have not been able to access our website so we stated from scratch. We finally boarded the ship and go to guest relations to give them the 4 copies of the India visas which were required. We were subsequently told that they only needed 1. The question that should be asked of Celebrity with over 2000 paasengers making all these photocopies half a rain forest would have been destroyed by making these unnecessary copies. The staff as always are brillant and special thanks to Surya Sunset bar and Chris The Sky lounge deck 11. PLEASE NOTE Celebrity double charge both myself and my husband's cards for almost $400 which meant we had to claim the money back via our banks. A lot of hassle to deal with when you get home!. Disembarkation was an absolute nightmare. We needed to leave the ship.at 4am we were told we couldn't as first disembarkation was at 6am. We were also told they would not have our passports back from Abu Dhabi immigation. We were given a letter and told to attend Alpha room at 2:15 on the 17 March as this was for guests leaving late 17. Upon arrival we were told this was only for guests leaving on the 17 and not for early leavers on the 18 and to go back to Guest relations. Guest relations final seem to understand we needed to leave the ship at 4am and we were to collect our passports after 9pm. On attending Guest relation at 9pm we were told they were not available until 3am. They finally registered our early morning call after 4 attempts. We were then informed that no porterage would be available at 4am so we had to drag our luggage off ourselves. The final slap in the face was when reaching the gangway we were told were not on list for disembarkation and they needed to call reception. After contacting Guest relation asking for clearance to allows to leave. The security confiscated our sea card passes and said because they had no facility the would check us out at 6am We felt the excursions were a con and expensive. We have sailed with several different cruise lines and we both came to the same decision that we would NEVER cruise with Celebrity again. Read Less

We have done many celebrity cruises and this itinerary was a good one for us. Yes the ship is a bit tired but that did not distract from our enjoyment at all. Cabin was A2 Aquaclass which was fine but we suffered from overhead noise at all times of the day and early mornings, but being under the pool deck what does one expect! Our cabin attendant Robert was fabulous. Dining in Blu was good, not very good as we’ve found before. Lobster was delicious on lobster night and our filet Mignon was great, but other meals were just ok. Desserts a huge let down. Night time entertainment was some of the best we ha d seen on Celebrity for years. There were only two nights ( Elton Jack and the first singer and dancers show)that were terrible, the rest were brilliant. Disappointed that the late night show supposedly on our final night was cancelled at the last minute. This upset our whole plan for the final night as we thought we’d go to the early Beatles show, after an early dinner, then have time to put our bags out then see the late show Allearia at 10 pm. Should have known this plan would fail as never ever seen a late show put on on our last night , EVER! Activities during the day on Celebrity are pitiful! Trivia, bingo, art auctions, sales, sales, sales, dance classes round the pool for 15-20 minutes, Officers versus passenger bag drops, golf putting, volley ball all done by the pool with blasting music, HATE IT!, and another reason to change ship preferences. Thank goodness for the solarium, where quiet reined! The selection of artists for onboard music was excellent, loved the Acoustic Duo especially but they had a range of music to suit all tastes including classical, fantastic. Captains Club host Chris was wonderful and our drink waiters in Reflections Lounge, during CC drinks 5-7, Amik and Valentine were wonderful as was Kadek at cocktail making. Service we thought was excellent throughout the ship. Did all shore excursions ourselves but got feedback from several Celebrity excursions from others, some very good, some dreadful. All ports were fabulous. We did a cooking class in Patong, Thailand with Pums cooking school and restaurant which was fabulous. Colombo Sri Lanka took a Tuk Tuk tour with Tuk Tuk Safaris, again a wonderful way to see Colombo. Then had lunch at the Gallery Cafe, Geoffrey Bawa’s restaurant in a beautiful garden setting which was delicious and cheap. India we had three private tours booked with our Cruise Critic group, in Cochin, Goa and Mumbai. We were booked with Lijo at Muziris Tours. All were fabulous and we got fabulous guides in Goa, Edgar and in Mumbai Infan. Both guides brought our tours with them to life. Muscat we had a private car tour with 2 others from CC for 4 hours. Brilliant and saw all the things we wanted to see. Khalifa was our guide and was very good. The Grand Mosque was fantastic. Dubai we didn’t get off except to go through immigration. This made getting off in Abu Dhabi a breeze. The best- the wonderful hard working staff entertainment at night and music on board Our cabin attendant Our CC waiters Lobster and filet in Blu The bad Lack of any newspapers now for anyone, told to watch BBC and CNN!!! Really- how much Australian, New Zealand Canadian, French, German news does Celebrity think we get from these stations!!! All to save paper, yet we can get three invitations the same night from Art Auctiions about their sales! There were more Brits and Aussies on this cruise than US passengers but that didn’t mean any newspapers! Overall, we had a fabulous cruise due to the itinerary and the people we met, but we find the loud music in all venues the sell, sell, sell just spoiling our overall enjoyment of Celebrity now and we will be looking at other lines that meet our needs better. Went on a far east cruise on the Celebrity Constellation. Firstly, our taxi didn't turn up to take us to the hotel for our overnight stay. When asking anyone from Celebrity Cruises they couldn't help us as they couldn't speak English. (we werent the only ones this happened to) While waiting to check in and board ship in Shanghai, we was shunted from place to place with no where warm to sit. (it was very cold) The staff was amazing so no issues there what so ever !!! But the price on board ship was so extortionate. The WIFI and Excursions was so overpriced. If we hadn't got a drinks package in place, I have no idea what we would have done. The ship docked in cargo type docks in the middle of nowhere. So, if you didn't have an excursion booked then you had nowhere to go. We ended up taking two trips just to get of ship. $49 just take us to Danang for a 4-hr trip which got cut to 3hrs which was not good enough for the amount they were charging. We complained and got a 30% refund. The second one was Singapore night at a glance, which most of it was done on foot and cost a grand total of $99 each for 3.5 hrs long trip. They only had American dollars on boardship. They should have had the relevant monies needed for each port docked at. The food on board was mainly rice type dishes and stir fry, very little of anything English. And you need very long arms to get the things from the back in the buffet. Ridiculous to have to pay to go in speciality restaurants. ( Just my opinion) To top it off we had to wait in airport for our flight home for over 12hrs because of turn around. All in all, very disappointing as this was for our 30th wedding Anniversary and my Husbands 60th Birthday. we saved long and hard for it. A big let down !! Read Less

40th wedding anniversary thought it would be a wonderful treat but it was very disappointing ship old, cabin tired in need of refurbishment. Fresh linen everyday but the towels small and grey, bathrobes I’ve seen better in a charity shop. Dinner room San Marco service slow, food good Buffet, chairs were often sunken and need replacing, staff fun, food excellent. Public areas all good position sun beds taken before 9 in the morning, Outdoor cinema show films but it took on average 3 trys to get a seat, people lying sleeping oblivious to people wanting to watch a movie. Ports of calls hours from the alleged ports of call for example 2 1/2 hours from Bangkok. If you didn’t buy ab excursion then there was little or no information as to get anywhere. No maps given customer relation and shore excursions desk staff were unhelpful and abrupt Poor customer care in fact a total shake down Read Less

We chose this cruise as part of a land/cruise package starting in Beijing. Embarkation at Shanghai was the longest we have ever experienced lasting over two hours. Passengers were being put through the priority lines regardless of Captains Club status. Once on board we found that the items we preordered for embarkation had not been delivered. It was a disappointing start to the cruise but things did get better. The food in the Main Dining room was good albeit the menu was somewhat limited. By far the best food was found in Qsine and Sushi on 5. The lunch menu in the Ocean View buffet was very good with lots of specials going on such as lobster rolls. Unfortunately the evening menu was bland and repetitive. Our concierge class cabin was good and clean. However there was a metal bar above the bed that was irritating. I believe it once held cushions as a sort it head board. Our cabin attendant was average and on several occasions did the evenin turn down at 4:30 in the afternoon. Each time he removed our canapés before we had the chance to eat them! Apart from two shows the entertainment was average. As usual the production shows are over amplified and in many cases mimed us the “click” system. The Rock City show was an example where the cast yelled the rock songs at us rather than singing them. Less is more. On the plus side two shows were very good. The fairy tale show wad fun and the cast actually looked like they were enjoying themselves. The best show of all featured two Ariel artistes and acrobats/dancers. We like to attend the quizzes but the two activitiy hosts were extremely irritating. Shore trips were good but as this was Chinese New Year the locations were very crowded and we encountered a lot a jostling and pushing. Hing Kong in particular was extremely busy which ruled out a visit to the Peak. In addition many museums/places of interest were closed. Moral of story - avoid Asia at time of the lunar New Year. Disembarkation at Singapore’s was relatively quick. Read Less

Chose tour because never had been to Southeast Asia. Lots of cities. Unfortunately, not much time in each city because of transportation time from ports to cities. Not the cruise's fault. As most people who have cruised know, there's less quality and quantity with every passing year. Maybe because much less money coming from casino, bingo, and jewelry sales. There were very few people doing these on cruise. Had a cabin with a porthole. Porthole was so dirty on outside, we could hardly see out of it. Enrichment speakers, psychologist and speaker on Buddhism very good This ship is very old. Upholstery in buffet and cabin dirty and stained. Thought buffet might include dishes related to countries we were in. No such luck. Indian an Mexican stations every night. Several days with no bananas in buffet. No whole grain breads. Coffee and drink stations occasionally empty. Food in main dining room average. One night had a piece of fish so small, I ate it in 3 bites. Guest relations very helpful with issues. Cast shows with Celebrity entertainers were inappropriate for demographic of older cruisers. Took independent excursions. Celebrity's much too expensive. Heard people complaining about quality of Celebrity excursions. Read Less

Chose cruise because of itinerary and previous pleasant experience with Celebrity. On a positive note - nice cabin, excellent steward and friendly, helpful crew with the exception of shore excursion staff. However from the moment of boarding, incessant pressure to upgrade. Pestered to take out drinks package. If you have drinks package, pressure to upgrade to premium package. Constant pressure to upgrade dining package. Smoothie for breakfast? - $10 please! Mundane activities in daily programme - cycling in gym **Fee applies. Yoga class**Fee applies etc.etc Outrageous prices of drinks, internet and shore excursions. Shore excursion staff snotty and so far up their own backsides. Unhelpful to the point of being obstructive if not taking their tour. Little or no provision for independent travellers wanting to do their own thing ashore - scant interest/help/direction/maps on ports of call. Several so called city dockings in Vietnam and Thailand actually up to 3 hours travel from city with docking at an obscure cargo terminal with minimal onshore facilities - presumably Celebrity saving on docking fees and increasing pressure to use their shore excursions. Food choice repetitive. Meat and fish invariably overcooked and dry. Culinary highlights poached eggs, water melon and ice cream! Overall ship's appearance OK but a little tatty in some areas with tired/worn upholstery Comfortable recliners on sun decks. My second, and last, cruise with Celebrity Read Less

MDR food was not good. Connie is clean and service in cabin was great. Our cabin, Aqua on deck 9 was quiet and kept spotless. We love Celebrity but prefer the S class ships and can’t wait to try Apex next year. Enjoyed all the excursions. Great tour guides. Booked all our excursions thru X. Caught a bad cold mid cruise and attendant was very nice about seeing I had everything I need when I stayed in cabin all day on a sea day to recover. Public areas are lovely. Always love Bacio. While staff very friendly and helpful. All in All we enjoyed the cruise but prefer the S class ships. Met so many nice people from all over the world. Read Less

We choose this cruise for the itinerary and it was as good as expected. We enjoyed each port, knowing ahead of time that some were underdeveloped and far away from the city. We did mostly private tours as the ship's appeared limited for more money. The staff were hit and miss. Some, like our waiter in the dining room (Sofyan) and our cabin steward (sorry but name is eluding me), were consistently excellent while others appeared to not know or care we were present. A repeat example was getting any service in the wine room. The food got better as the cruise progressed but repetitive. It was mostly enjoyable but we limited ourselves to the dining room after two painful experiences in the buffet. It was a surprise to us to not have other options, like we enjoy on NCL cruises, unless you were high paying customers. The entertainment was sad and short, about 30-40 minutes. The most enjoyable was the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. The cabin was fine and had lots of storage. It was kept very clean by our steward. The deck was clearly painted multiple times as flakes came off by touching the railing but we did enjoy our time outside each evening. I was truly disgusted by the towels and wash cloths. They were stained and grey/brown instead of the intended white. I understand some adjustments for an older ship but there's no excuse for dirty. This was our first cruise on Celebrity. Our fellow passengers, who were a delight, assured us this is not typical and that we should try another ship. I'd be very reluctant to do so unless it was a fantastic itinerary but I will miss the excellent repeat cruisers we met and enjoyed. Read Less

Booked this cruise for the exciting sounding itinerary. Singapore, Bangkok, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Shanghai. The ship is nearly 20 years old, but in fair condition, and has charm. It was easy to get around, with good lifts, and never felt overcrowded. The Cabin an Outside was a good size and clean and tidy, it had everything we needed but the Linens and towels were old and badly need replacing. From the moment we boarded the Ship, Celebrity went into Up sell mode, Internet prices were extortionate, and the onboard shops sold nothing but high end goods such as very expensive watches like Rolex. Nothing useful like toiletries or sweets such as mints. We found the entertainment to be mixed some very good and some diabolical. Excursions - Many of the ports, were in fact container ports, miles from anywhere and unsafe to get off for a stroll. This required excursions to be booked but so much time was involved traveling to and from, we felt cheated that we had been unable to enjoy the destinations and the guides would add in stops to factories that sold goods such as high end jewllry in the hope of gaining commission on sales when we really would have enjoyed more time at the destination. Food and Beverage We found the main restaurants food to be good but towards the end of the cruise was stuggling to choose as the meals felt a bit samey. The service however was excellent. The Buffet restaurant had lots of choice and was always well stocked, we liked the fact that hand sanitasion was encouraged, and that the staff kept everywhere clean and tidy. We had a Beverage package, but unless you are a massive drinker, they are poor value. On sea days there was not enough entertainment on offer, with some of the Lectures and Fitness classes requiring to be paid for. So unless the sun is shining, you may be bored! We found all the staff to be excellent, but overall we were disappointed in this cruise It just did not deliver on any level apart from Staff.and we have done a few cruises from basic to Luxury. This has to be the only one that did not come up to expectations for the price paid. Read Less

We chose this cruise as the weather in the Indian ocean is good at this time of year and the ports of call were new to us. Never having sailed on celebrity before, we had high expectations as it was not a large ship and entertainment reviews were good. The entertainment was good , as were the helpful cheerful crew, however we were disappointed with the food choice in both the main dining and buffet restaurants - not enough variation . We ended up eating similar meals several evenings. Also lacking is a ship laundry room , you are not permitted to take on travel irons and would have to use their laundry service ( pricey). The drinks packages are extortionate ( unless you want to spend all day and night in the bar drinking ). We didn't have a package but bought as we wanted , and staff in bars and restaurants are obviously instructed to push the drinks packages as we were soon tired of being pestered - similarly pestered to have photos taken , and to eat in the very expensive select restaurants. On many other ships we have cruised , there have been destination information talks and often maps provided or the local port areas. Not with Celebrity , it was a destination talk only about their shore excursions , so if you don't want those make sure you do your homework before leaving home. My last gripe was half a deck of the ship that housed shops selling all the usual upmarket clothing and watches + art auctions, but not essential items that may be needed on a 2 week cruise like toothpaste ! We did enjoy our holiday ( but it could have been better). Next time I'll know what to expect on a Celebrity cruise - and choose another line. Read Less

Prices for everything on the ship extortionate. Fitness facilities on the ship were very good and the Buffet selection on food was excellent The food and service in the Suite restaurant Luminae we're both terrible and certainly not worth the premium do you have to pay to be in a suite We took shore excursions run by the ship in five of the ports and again, they were very mediocre and not close to offering value for money. In one case for example, the excursion started at 1 pm and the first stop was a fish market which had just closed . In another port because only one exit to the dark from the ship was open it took over 20 minutes just a disembark All in all we were not impressed by the ship or the service and value we received Read Less

Recently returned from this much anticipated cruise from Abu Dhabi. Found the ship to be tired with internal & external maintenance required, especially in some of the public toilets. There was a sewage smell at various areas throughout the ship during most of our cruise. On the last night there was a sudden potent smell of sewage appeared in the theatre mid show & approximately 100 people walked out, including ourselves. Then engineering staff that appeared at the theatre denied any problem, despite the smell!! Food was hit & miss in quality - in the main dining room some meals were very good, however several arrived look warm. Food choice & information - little/poor labelling in Oceanview Cafe with crew unable to confirm allergens. Again crew were the same - some excellent, interested, knowledgeable & attentive, with others with little knowledge, apparently little training or interest. Next to no visibility of the senior officers - when on Millennium last year all senior officers were seen regularly throughout the ship, but not the case this cruise. Smoking area talking more than 50% of open decks & regularly moved between sides on deck 4 - making it hard to avoid smoke at times. Itinerary was good, with India being especially interesting. Like the class of ship having cruises on Millennium last Christmas- crew night & day between the two ships. Would definitely try similar itinerary but not on this ship! The ship dancers & singers were excellent, but the other entertainment was very poor. Rated shore excursions as average as we did our own excursions. Read Less

We are Celebrity fans having first cruised on Equinox in 2013. We only ever cruise at Christmas and with friends we met on our first cruise. The biggest disappointment was the arrogance of some of the passengers especially with the sunbeams. Now we Brits have a reputation for competing with other europeans for beds around hotel pools in europe but seizing 20 beds at 0630 using 4 towels per bed, smacks of selfishness and arrogance and to top it all, from fellow Brits1 We cruised at Christmas from Abu Dhabi including Goa, Mumbai, Dubai, Sir Bani island and back to Abu Dhabi. Abu dhabi is rather boring, Goa was disappointing, Dubai is impressive but hugely expensive, Sir Bani island (never went ashore) seemed pointless. Why have to wait two ours to be tendered to a beach for a BBQ? We were deck 11 in AquaClass and our cabin attendant was fantastic as were 80% of the crew some, clearly their first contract, need a short sharp shock. Celebrity has a policy of not allowing reservation of sunbeds and if you leave, its 30 minutes or your personal belongings are collected and taken to guest relations. Never happened. Pool butlers seemed either intimidated or were perhaps, getting a little kick back for turning a blind eye. Now I appreciate that there are never enough beds on sea days especially if the weather is hot, but it kind of iritates you knowing you have to hunt for a bed after you've had breakfast and certainly put us and our friends, in a bad mood - not the way to start your day! The ridiculous use of 4 towels per bed, kind of flys in the face of Celebrity's "save the waves" campaign and perhaps should require you to sign for a maximum amount of two towels using your sea pass and return them otherwise, you pay for them. Better policing would also help. We always book AquaClass mainly because Blu restaurant has, in my opinion, the best food on the ship along with a comprehensive and impressive wine list. Neither was obvious in Blu in fact, its probably some of the most mediocre food we have ever had. Celebrity have definetly reduced the selection too, even though we always opt for Premium Drinks Package as opposed to the Classic Drinks Package. I would be replacing executive chef too. Are Celebrity aware of the dozens of potato dishes that can be created rather than has or chips? Or sauces rather than some light hearted attempt to disguise yesterdays with todays? As a former chef, I was deeply frustrated at the lack of culinary skill or imagination AND the bloody lack of potato dishes! Connie is showing her age and any any amount of "refits' makes little difference. She is shabby and unloved and should be scrapped. Going back the Solstice class a in September and then Christmas 2020 - never again on a Millennium Class. Read Less

After a wonderful cruise to the Baltic on Silhouette we turned to Celebrity for Christmas and New Year and found the India and Emirates cruise, which we booked with great anticipation. What a disappointment, the ship, not the itinerary. Not enough storage space in cabin, cases would not fit under the bed, seal strips kept coming off the shower door, the balcony, deck nine had a massive overhang from deck ten which was the pool deck, so there was constant noise and running footsteps, even in the cabin we had youngsters running up and down the corridor, this is not something we expect in an Aqua Class cabin. There was no adult only area on the pool deck which meant we had constant loud music and shouting, the sunbeds were rammed so close together,(if an empty one could be found) one could have mistaken the deck for a Riviera beach. Celebrity advertise that they cater for low sugar, which l might add is a medical requirement, not a lifestyle choice, no evidence in the Oceanview restaurant of low sugar. infact the organisation in their was very poor on the whole. Afternoon tea consisted of Pizza or Pasta until the last day when miraculously sandwiches appeared and much to my husbands delight scones. We book Aqua class because we love the Blu restaurant, l was delighted to see a low sugar desert option which l ordered, what a mistake, there is certainly a lack of understanding with the chefs on what low sugar actually means, luckily for me our waiters and Maitre d were so concerned that the problem was soon corrected. I was asked for some examples and every night l was provided with a delicious desert. Special thanks to Avan for actually buying me some low sugar sweets when we were in India. The staff on board were always very helpful and polite, things are not always the fault of the actual staff. Sometimes l have mobility difficulty, l couldnt have wished for more help. Our excursions were a mixture, Mumbai was something we would not have missed, a unique experience. On the whole Christmas and New Year on the ship was disappointing, not the fault of the staff. Come on Celebrity stop resting on your laurels, we are looking at other cruise lines. Read Less

I choose the cruise for the destination. The ship too my surprise was 29 years old and showed it. My Gripes are as follows: 1. The cost of the drinks package are a complete rip off an extra $600 for a non alcohol package or $1800 for alcohol (about 25% of cruise cost). 2 Entertainment was third grade and boring. Sound in the theater was not up to standard 3. They used to let you watch movies in the room for free now its $15 plus there was simply nothing too watch 4. They even want you to pay for a tour of the ships Kitchen 5. There were 5 sea days and if I tell you there was simply nothing to do. They had 2 lecturers on board who were not even that good. In other words the lecture rooms were empty most of the day. What the ship thinks is an activity is playing ping pong. 6. In this day an age to charge $500 for internet access is a "crime". You can get that for a year in any country. 7 When you travel in Asia or middle east the price for an excursion is about 5 times what you will pay instead of using one of the locals who are in abundance outside the docks 8. Food: We dined second session and the food mostly was adequate but frequently arrived cold. The buffet was not sub standard. Fruit was either over ripe or simply not there. Salads were boring and often at breakfast there was a choice of one cold meat or cheese. Also not everyone eats pork products. (I noticed flies buzzing around the food area). The drinks waiters in the buffet area had limited knowledge of English and frequently could not understand a simple drinks order Read Less
