This was my first cruise and let me say we had a blast. The cruise director Adam was phenomenal. I loved that he would dress up and change looks depending on the theme. He had great energy. He did a great job making sure everyone was entertained. I loved that they had so many activities for all ages. The welcome shows were great. Food and drinks were great. The FUN SHIP drink is a MUST. So delicious. Guys Burgers were juicy and the fries were banging. Room service was always on point. Putu (bobby) was always so friendly. It was amazing that he memorized everyone's name. It made the stay that much more welcoming. Anything we needed he made sure we had. Super helpful and friendly. All the staff was great. Always with smiles and waiting to answer any questions we had. From boarding the boat to leaving it was such a smooth transition. When we got to Cozumel there were so many excursions to choose from. We decided on paradise island. Our tour guides angel and faisel did an amazing job explaining the tour. It was all inclusive. The beach was just beautiful. The photographers took great photos. We ended up meeting some new friends on the excursion. The nightlife was good. Music was on point and i feel it catered to all ages. DRINKS IN THE REX WERE BOMB. (DJs Fave) was my go to drink. My only complaint would be the photos on the cruise. They didnt have an option to purchase all photos taken even on a usb. Each photo was $17-22 per photo. We had about 50 photos to choose from and it sucked not being able to bring them all home. The photos were all beautiful and with all the different backgrounds they had every night made it hard to choose. They also wont let you take your own photos with their background so thats how they get you. Read Less

We chose Mobile due to proximity to home and not going near Orlando where we would be tempted to go to Disney. The staff aboard is great. They are nice, lively and patient. Marty, Gemma, and Lizzy are all wonderful fun staff members. We also really enjoyed the variety at dinner. It was nice to try new things we had never had before. The casino is on the same floor as the Camp Ocean and smoking is heavy there. Our son had an asthma attack going to Camp Ocean one night so we spent time treating that. You could smell the smoke all over the 9th floor which also happens to be where to go for the photos each day. It's just heavy. The elegant night was less than elegant. More people in shorts and t-shirts than elegant wear. We enjoyed our time we were dressed up, so it is what it is. I just thought it was typical to dress as suggested. We are not a party family. We are very conservative in our activities so the crowd was not our favorite. It was like spring break on the ocean all week with loud adults and inappropriate behavior for a family cruise. Midnight still having people hollering down the halls was annoying as we were trying to sleep. A lot of individuals were commenting on people in swimsuits and how they didn't belong in swimsuits at all and taking photos of them so I didn't even bother trying to enjoy the water with my kids. That's on me for being self conscious though. I will also say that Camp Ocean was supposed to be separated by age, but they put the 6-8 year olds with the 9-11 year olds. There were a lot of 6 year olds so our 11 year old (who turns 12 in a few weeks) stayed with us after day 2. He was not thrilled with the activities being moved to being only for the younger kids. The atmosphere just wasn't for us. That's not to say it wouldn't be perfect for others. It's just not for a more conservative family who want to enjoy a relaxing vacation. Read Less

The most important take away from my trip is to review your Sail & Sign statement carefully. If you have prepaid for spa treatments, you could get billed again. Your CHEERS doesn't work at the Carnival island of Half Moon Cay. The Cheers program is NOT worth the money. You will spend less if you just pay out of pocket. You can get bored over the course of 7 days. The pools and chairs are always full. The in-room television doesn't have ample movie selections. You honestly feel like you are eating all the time and the food isn't great. We spent most of our time in the casino (we broke even thank goodness), but the ventilation is horrible from the chain smoking that occurs. If your pockets aren't full when you leave, your lungs will be. And your clothes will reek badly. They do keep the boat spotless and they work super hard to cater to you and your surroundings. We stayed in a suite and it was awesome. It is roomy compared to the balcony rooms. The only issue that I had and this was my second attempt to love a cruise was that the bedding always smelled like dirty laundry. I even brought my own blanket and pillow cases, but they couldn't hide the smell. In summary, we went with family which was a big plus, but this trip proved that I will never be a cruiser with many under my belt. You either love them or hate them. There is no in between. Read Less

Reason we chose this cruise: It was in a day drive, low budget and fit into fall break for our teen. Embarkation and disembarkation was very smooth and efficient. Ship was old and dated and many of the areas on the ship had cosmetic issues - tiles off of walls, cracks and rust. After the second night in the dining room we successfully found a great service team that we stuck with for entire cruise. The last night after returning from dinner we entered the hallway to a terrible smell and crew members frantically trying to vacuum up the water that was about 4" in the hall. Many cabins were flooded and people could not get belongings. We were moved to 2 rooms as there were none that could accommodate 3. In room with my wife and teenager somebody early in the morning just walked into the room without knocking. Read Less

5 day Sensation Miami Nassau Half Moon Cay and Grand Turks. Embarkation fastest ever about 10 minutes.   Ship was at Port D if you take Uber.   Not allowed in state rooms until 130 pm so if u come early just know that.  Lunch is open of course.  Luggage took about an hour. Cabin steward came by and asked if we wanted morning or evening cabin service and his sheet also said both so we said both and he did.  Also asked for ice and he supplied a bucket of ice all cruise.  We tipped extra at the end. We had a back balcony which was good.  Most beds in most cabins run parallel to the ship, meaning as the bow goes up and down your foot end of the bed goes up and down slightly if that make sense.  However for the few cabins at the aft the beds run perpendicular to the ship meaning the bed goes up and down left to right instead of foot to head.  It was just weird to be rocked that way all night. Nassau is the only port on this cruise you need both your key card and I.d.  a driver's license is all you need for this cruise. No passport.  The other parts needed just your sign and sail card.   We walked 3 blocks south and 3 blocks east from the port and took a city bus on an unnarrated island tour for a buck and a quarter.  You pay at the end.  Bus 19 is a good one to see behind the scenes of you have done this island alot.   Private island... No tips...it was very hot.  Bring lots of sunscreen.  Excellent cell phone service.  Grand Turks.  It was so hot the locals were swearing badly.  There is limited free beach  chairs and cabanas and such right off the boat on the left of their pier so you want to be the first off.  The green umbrellas are free and the blue chairs behind them are free. First come first served.  The others are $25 for 2 chairs and an umbrella.   The 2nd night is formal night and an upgraded menu.  Be sure to try the rare finds like frog legs if that is your thing.  Most of the dinning room tables were for 8 to 12 people. Long gone are the days of tables for 2 and 4.  Every night they would stop service and the staff dance.  It use to be 1 night on cruised we took in the past.  Now everynight.  The background music is the same track each night.  We are dessert to Kenny g, entrees to a remake of Richard Marx, each night. It became a joke at our table.  Oh, this song is on, must be time for the bread..etc. By far the best part of the cruise was Deon the cruise director.   On 3 nights he had an event in the atrium about 845 pm. This is a must do.  It might be listed as name that song or something but just go. He had hundreds of people leaning over the edges of all the levels in the palm of his hand. IMHO one of the best vocalists at sea that we've seen is with the band Sixth Element.  They played most nights midship level 9.   Mostly standards from the 80s and 90s.  Some before.  They nailed so many songs so close that my phone app was showing the titles and original artist.  They have a new big fan   the crowds got bigger each night as passengers learned of them. The ship is old and worn out.  They have worked hard with upkeep but the price was right to overlook stuff.  The cabins have a hair drier and in the shower there are soap and shampoo dispensers.  One power outlet in cabin and 1 in bathroom.  We brought a very small splitter to charge 3 devices. Internet and cell phone...nassau if you have TMobile its local.  Others international plans work.  Half moon cay cell tower right by where dock is.  Turks the same.  On the sea day about 4 pm and off and on all night you are nearby towers on the islands you pass to get phone and internet.  In other words just make sure you are not on cellular at sea which is the ships towers, and you can stay connected without buying the ships internet package.  Overall a Nice cheap getaway. I chose this cruise because it was the only option that was available for school holiday. The cabin and balcony are small for $4040. The food is average overall. The continental breakfast on Deck 9 is really a disappointment with limited choices. The main dining is ok only because of the melting chocolate cake but not great. Outdoor facilities are always occupied such as golf, basketball, pingpong. I had tried at least 3 times and eventually given up trying coz always crowded. The basketball court (apparently also for volleyball) is very small and always full of people. The staff are very friendly- perhaps the only highlight. Entertainment such as shows and live music are only average. I went to the same 3 Islands the same deal last year with Pacific Eden which i paid a lot less but with much greater experience on board. Overall I am greatly disappointed and won't come back at all. Read Less

The food was horrible. One in our party was vegetarian and the choices were slim to none. Same Indian vegetarian meal in dining room every night. The food in Lido restaurant needs to be labeled better. There was a pasta dish that looked like regular pasta with marinara sauce. After asking found out all the pasta sauce has seafood base. There seems to be no care given to people with dietary restrictions or needs. They have these hateful ladies (aka crumb patrol) in the Lido restaurant. They get in line right on top of you and clean crumbs the whole time you are in line. Felt very unwelcome. Hot tubs are not hot. I’ve had warmer baths. The temperature control in the cabins on deck 7 were horrible. I’m cold natured and I couldn’t get cool the whole trip. Then I saved the best for last. The muster safety drill! We had to stand outside sweating for an hour (because of waiting for late people), for a five minute safety drill showing how to put on a life jacket. The guy doing the demonstration in muster station F was so short we couldn’t see him. People were about to pass out from the heat. This was my 3rd cruise and my worst. Read Less

I booked with carnival before food was so good. I ate so much! I thought they was going to have to roll me of the ship. I had a wonderful experience on the freedom. I just returned from an 8 day cruise on the magic. The only exciting thing they had to do was bingo. They had bingo everyday. If it was bingo it was something else concerning the casino. They was pushing drinks. If you declined they just wouldn't stop hounding. However, my housekeeper was excellent. All the people i met on the ship was very disappointed as well. It was a cruise specifically for elderly or gamblers. I was very disappointed. I been itching to go on this cruise and it was whack. I'm going to give carnival a break and try royal caribbean. My cruise was from september 28,2019- october 6,2019.thye guys pig & anchor was hidden and not on the food itinerary all. Don't try the seafood shack the lobster rolls are horrible. Read Less

We are getting close to the end of an 8 day adventure on Carnival Magic and have a few negatives to report . The entertainment in the evening was not what we expected compared to our previous 2 cruises with Carnival. The only night we half enjoyed was the last night with the rock and roll of the 80's being played by the cast in costume. The entertainment on the main floor was much better with several different groups. The trio of female violinists from the Ukrane were the best. Some of the Pixel staff needs a lesson on customer courtesy as their new way of ordering pictures was very confusing and they were all 11x7 pictures but they didnt have one 11 x 7 frame to purchase and some of the help didnt even know how to order your pictures and didnt seem to care if you bought or not. We found most of the food ok but the dinner at night was great. We really need to put a shout out to our head waiter Joseph and his staff of Maryna and Cabata for the friendship they showed us every evening in the Northern Lights Restaurant. We hope to someday take another cruise and luck out to have them again. Also we would like to thank our housekeeping for the nice job of keeping our room clean and ice bucket filled. We did feel the carpet needed a good cleaning though. We will cherish all the fond memories we did have on this cruise though. We have previously been to Grand Turks but took the Rainbow Tour Bus for a tour of the island. My sister-in-law enjoyed it so that's what we had hoped for. A special thanks to Jaunita for her guide service on Bermuda. Very informative. My sister-in-law who took her first cruise with us at 83 years young got plenty of souvenirs to take back with her and we truly hope she decides to take another cruise in a couple years. My wife and I are planning an Alaska Cruise and Land tour in the next couple of years when she retires from her work. Once again, thank you Carnival for another great experience. Read Less

I'm sitting on deck 5 waiting to end this horrible cruise. I call it horrible because of the ship. I was so excited to get on the new big ship Vista. And this ship is the worst. I've been on numerous other carnival ships. And this one is bad. It is like being in a dungeon. It is dark and cramped. There are no walkways within the ship that are open with windows. You walk in dark crowded hallways. You can't find elevators because they are tucked away. This ship is not open and welcoming. Oh and you have to walk thru casino. Thru the smoke. Now way around it. What happened to having a grand atrium that makes u go wow. The main area of ship is only 3 stories tall. 3rd to 5th. Wow....what a disappointment. Now the crew was amazing. The food and shows were a disappointment. Very boring trip. I will never intentionally book another trip on this ship. Read Less

I will start by saying we have cruised 5 different cruise lines, this was our first Carnival cruise. Yes we have heard a lot of negatives so we were prepared for the worst! However I must say the Elation is in very nice condition, refurbished and quite nicely done. The cabins are plain, yet served there purpose. Staff was nice, however the ship is understaffed and service suffered. Food was much better than expected and was very good in the dining room, good to average at the buffet. Guys burgers and the Cantina were excellent. There was plenty to do for evening entertainment, and the Rock show was outstanding. The problem for us was not the ship at all. However be prepared for the crowd a low cost 4 day cruise gets. The quality of the people did not match the quality of the ship. Perhaps I just cannot adjust to the younger under 40 crowd.(I am in my 60's, took my kids and grandkids for this cruise) My grandkids felt it was a great cruise, so it is a matter of perspective. If you like loud, and I mean really loud music on the pool deck, kids taking over the jaccuzi ALL DAY, Kids and adults walking the hallways all night talking loudly and waking up everyone who actually tried to sleep, parents who take absolutely no action to control their children, than this is the cruise for you. I will stick with Celebrity or Royal Caribbean which gets a better crowd. Will I try a 7 day Carnival cruise in the future? Will the crowd be different? I'm not sure yet. As for now I need to recover from this one! Read Less

This cruise line was chosen by a family member to have a family reunion. Checking onboard in Baltimore was quick and orderly. Once onboard we explored the ship while waiting for our cabin. Once in the cabin, the amount of rust, holes in the steel from rust, and rusted through stiffeners was quite noticeable on our balcony. It was also covered in salt. Needed to use a towel on the hand rail and chairs before we could sit outside and watch the ship sail. Food served in the dining room was often slow and lukewarm. Staff appeared to have more tables assigned to them than they could handle efficiently. Meals on the lido deck were repeated almost every day. Very little selection and lukewarm food. Highlight of the food scene was Guy Fieri's Burger Bar. Only place on the ship where you could get a hamburger between the hours of 12 noon and 6pm, the only hours it was open. Well seasoned hamburgers, served hot. Cabin attendant was good and maintained the cabin to perfection. Cruise Director was extremely annoying and was on the PA system numerous times through the day with extremely loud singing that was almost unintelligible. Speakers on the PA system were overdriven and hard to understand. This was my first cruise on Carnival and will be the last. I much prefer RCCL. Read Less

I have only been on 17 cruises but this will be the most memorable. Had a good time on boat except when it came to the casino. Which is one of the reasons my husband and I go on carnival cruises. Our Daughter had offer that she had free drinks in casinos even though she doesn’t play in there very much so she booked her a room and went along too on this one with my grandson and a friend. (This cruise put both of them platinum and he was only 4 at the time of the cruise. This was something we wanted him to accomplish at a young age and he loves cruising ) Anyway... every casino person we spoke to said no even though we had proof of what she book. They said her offer did not include drinks while playing. So. I was pissed. She may drink only 2 drinks at most a day but that was besides the point it was offered to her and she booked it. And confirmed via travel agent what both offers entailed. But whatever you can’t do much arguing when they say they are right and your wrong. Whatever! Then I fell yes embarrassing but I tripped and fell in casino due to indention in floor then tripped again in another one luckily didn’t fall. And no I had not been drinking and boat did not bobble at the moment I feel or I didn’t notice it. People around me saw and stated it was the bad places in the floor that had tripped me. And advised that I needed to report the fall I did not report it as there wasn’t anything they could or would have done. At least it was the last night. However, all other staff (with exception of casino hostess’s) were really nice. You could not have asked for the ones we came in contact with to have been any nicer. We didn’t do an excursions offered by carnival this trip. We walked through key west which seems very safe and enjoyed a sloppy joe at sloppy joes. It was sooo good and went to the rim distillery and meet really nice people there bought some rum and then off to see the famous spot on the island for a photo opp. There was a line but it moved rather fast. Then back to the boat via Uber. In Nassau we walked around and walked to public beach. There was some glass in the sand and we decided it wasn’t a good place for a 4 year old. Since we definitely didn’t need and glass in his little feet. but it was very pretty and crowded. As normal you had people trying to get you to buy things in Nassau as you are walking around Be careful they will walk up to you holding brackets saying gift for you. But beware it’s not free they want 10.00. - 20.00 for those 3.00 brackets. We learned this years ago in other ports so we have learned no eye contact smile forward and keep walking. Unfortunately we did see several stunned couples as they were being told they had to pay for their free gift. We decided to take taxi to margarettaville and check it out since some other ports we have gone to have one and their pool is perfect for the four old to slide and swim. But this one though it was nice didn’t have a kid friendly pool just a small swimup pool. That trip costs us 40 for Both ways. We decided day two in Nassau would be stay on boat and enjoy almost empty pool. One last thing I had heard of people getting sick on ships with viruses but out of my 17 cruises this is the first one that yes I have came home with a virus. Got home on Sunday got sick Monday night 3 1/2 days in bed thinking I was going to die 4 prescriptions 1 steroid shot 2 urgent care visits and I am hoping I will be able to get up tomorrow and lead a productive life again. Did I mention the other three adults got sick as well and have had the pleasure of urgent care visits since we have been home. I think maybe it’s time for a break on carnival for a while. Well till next year but I maybe driving to Galveston to go back on the dream! Not sure if you will post or not but just wanted to give you my honest review of our latest cruise. Paula Read Less

This was our very first cruise. Didn’t no exactly what to expect and was nervous at first. Everything turned out beyond what I could have asked for. The ship is huge with 2 pools (wished they were a little bigger) but both very nice. The service was great. The dinning room was definitely my families favorite with our 3 favorite servers that we continued to request the entire cruise (Gede Arnawa, Ketut wiranan, and Nant) Arnawa was our favorite!! Very outgoing and went beyond what we could have asked for. Always making us laugh and all around a fun guy!! Danced with him at dinner a few times too haha. He was a highlight on our cruise. Some of our favorite places to eat lunch were guys burgers (so yummy) and pig and anchor (boyfriend loved this and I did too) Our favorite bartender was Keke she was amazing! She knew how the make the best bloody Mary’s and very friendly! The cheers drink package was definitely worth every penny. Drinks are about 10$ so we took full advantage of the drink package!! The entertainment was great! The comedy quest show was hilarious! One of our favorites. Simon was our cruise director and he went above and beyond with entertaining everyone. He had a white night party, and 80s party both which were very enjoyable. The last day he did a balloon drop! Was soo cool! The ports that we visited where half moon cay (water crystal clear, my favorite) Turks and cacios, and amber cove. 3 absolutely beautiful ports. In half moon was a perfect beach day and visiting the pirate ship bar! Turks and Caicos we rented a golf cart and rode around the island. Got to visit margaritavillie jacks shack, and more! Amber cove we did zip lining shore excursion. Loved the excursion. Only downfall they didn’t tell you everything you needed to have to be prepared for excursion (shoes, very long shorts, etc) would I go on a cruise again?! Omg yes in a heartbeat!!! Read Less

We cruised Sept. 22-28 on the Sunshine, originally for 1.5 days in Bermuda, but diverted due to hurricane Jerry to Princess Cays and Nassau. We were disappointed as Bermuda was the main reason we booked the cruise and the fact it was leaving from Charleston. We knew it was hurricane season, but unfortunately, all of the Bermuda options on Carnival from Charleston are during hurricane season and not a lot of other options are available. We were disappointed, but made the best of the cruise. We have sailed the Sunshine before in 2016 when it was making less frequent runs from Charleston, it is now home based there. It is an older ship that was re-designed in 2013. We typically enjoy the very large ships better because there are just more options. There are some oddities with this ship in getting to certain areas. You can’t pass through on all levels and find yourself going up or down a floor, walking through and then going up or down where you need. It is confusing, but not a deal breaker! By the time you figure out the system good, it’s time to get off the ship. Because it is not that big of a ship, it doesn’t take long to get to either end. But, it is larger than the Fantasy class ships. With the exception of the first evening and next morning, we rarely felt movement on the ship. I attributed the movement early on to being close to hurricane waters, but who knows! The rest of the trip, we wouldn’t have known we were on a ship. Of course, on the trip back to Charleston from NASSAU, the trip was only moving at about 12 knots. We had an outside stateroom with picture window, deck 1, midship (less movement typically) The room is a very nice size and in looking at some newer ships on OTHER lines, their outside cabins are very small ( I have not compared to Carnival’s newer ships yet). Our room had good room on each side of the king bed (2 twins together), small tables with storage on either side, a desk/vanity area that was wide, large mirror, lots of storage shelves and drawers. There is a small stool type chair for the vanity, a couch that seats 3 and table. There were 3 closets, 2 with hangers and space and the 3rd had the safe and shelves. There was plenty of storage and room for suitcases under the bed. TV had very limited channels including 2 movie channels and at least 2 channels for kids. You could not check your account on the TV, nor did it have menus, you could see menus on the hub app. You could also follow the days schedule on the app. Lighting was excellent in the cabin. There is an outlet with two plugs at the vanity area. I took an extension cord so I could use my sound machine to drown out snoring! The temperature was comfortable most of the time, a few times it felt a little warm even though we kept the settings on the lowest setting. I will say if you like your room very cold, that is not happening. It was comfortable, but not cold. Keeping curtains closed when sun is on that side helps keep the room from getting too warm. Outside temps were 70’s (night I think) to high 90’s. There is a hairdryer in the top drawer at the vanity, but difficult to use, so if you can, take your own. It is attached in the drawer and does not stretch far enough for you to use it adequately. I had to bend over to get it to my head and I am short. I could not see what I was doing as it would not stretch to the mirror. You also have to keep holding the button as you use it, or it cuts off. That is challenging too. It really was useless except maybe for drying, forget styling! There was space for storage in the bathroom and the size of the shower was very good. We had hot water most of the time and the water pressure was good most of the time. I am sure when a lot of people are using at once, that changes. Our cabin steward was Komang and he did a great job. We were given the option for morning, evening or both for room service, and we chose evening. I asked for ice to be brought nightly and he did that. We did not “see” him often but when we would return to our room, no matter what time we ate dinner, he had been there! He left awesome towel animals too. I try and keep the room straight, neat and clean, so didn’t leave a lot for him to do. We saw in some rooms as we’d pass by and I could not believe the mess people left. I do not feel it is their job to clean up behind us; but to clean bath as needed, leave fresh towels, empty trash, make the bed/turn down and ice. (though I sort of keep my bed made). Sad what some people expect. I always tip stateroom attendant extra because I know what they do is not easy. Food was good, nothing exceptional but it has been that way since the extra fee restaurants came into being. I also think because the chefs/cooks are form other countries, the food/recipes is not prepared as we are used to eating it. The buffet was pretty much similar items for breakfast and lunch. Deli had some great sandwiches and they are open until 11:00pm. Guys Burgers is open until about 6:00pm and the Blue Iguana closes around 2:30 (tacos, salads and burritos). They had late night snacks at 11:30-1:00 in the buffet area, but I never went to see what was offered. The only option for 24 hours is pizza or room service. There is not a fee for room service (unless you order items with an extra cost). Of course, tip is appreciated. Oh, if you are a fa of the cranberry rolls I teh dining room, they only had them one night, so eat up if you see them! All the bread was good though, as was the whipped butter! Sugar straws came with frozen drinks, etc. and they were fine until they started "melting" so to speak, they were like limp wet rubber and you could not drink through them. Not much flavor to them and they did not taste sweet. We found as many have said, the desserts look better than they are, including the cakes. They were good, just not exceptional or awe inspiring, no “wow” factor. Some desserts had odd textures. but they filled you up! I cannot speak for the extra fee restaurants as we did not eat at any, but they may have been better. I heard someone who ate at the steakhouse said it was excellent. I had beef tenderloin for one dinner in the dining room and it was very good, and I enjoyed the filet mignon steak and egg breakfast for brunch in the dining room. The chocolate melting cake was good, as it always is. The 24 ice cream machines were available as were lemonade, tea, coffee and water. I am not a big ice cream fan, so that didn’t appeal to me. All of the staff in the dining room and other dining areas were very nice, friendly and helpful. I saw numerous times throughout the ship, not just at dining, but other times as well, anyone who needed assistance, staff were right there to help them. They were very accommodating. I went to guest services twice and staff were very friendly there as well, Also the excursion desk. I never saw or encountered any rude staff or anyone appearing to be disgruntled. We had my time dining and used our Carnival Hub App to request a table. We went anywhere from 5:30-6:45 and never had more than a 10 minute wait. We would make the request on the app and it would tell us when our table was ready and gave the number. You walk in the dining room on deck 3 and the host has you seated. Only one night in the dining room did we wait what seemed a little longer for our food. Most nights, it was all very quick service. You can pay $5.00 each and be able to chat with each other on the ship through the app if needed. My husband had the premium (2nd level) wifi and was able to receive and send texts, check email and get on the web and make and receive wifi calls, though Carnival does not state/guarantee that will be available. We could sign off one device and use another as needed. My husband is a workaholic and gets stressed if he cannot have access. Our phones with T-Mobile worked on princess Cays and Nassau without the wifi. Just remember when you return to the ship, to put it back on airplane mode. I do not think the ships wifi worked on Princess Cays. I thought we’d be able to check our account on the app, but I was never able to do that. I did go to one of the 2 kiosks and printed out a statement to check our charges. If you have gift cards, you must go to guest services to load them to your account, it no longer works at the kiosks. The production shows were good as well as the comedy club acts. Adam, the Cruise Director was very good, professional and entertaining. When I saw any of the entertainment staff, they were all very good, seemed to be having fun (though I know they are working, and it is a job and not as fun for them as the passengers) and did a great job. Staff were always cleaning throughout the ship and nothing was ever amiss. It is an older ship, but kept in good condition. I never smelled any sewage odor. You could smell smoke on the decks near the casino and in the casino. We stayed out for that reason. Lots of music and bar options. When out by pool areas, waiters came around often to ask if you needed anything. The same during shows. Dress for the dining room, I know this is always a hot topic! On elegant nights, I saw shorts and jeans, as well as formal wear, so the full gamut. It doesn’t matter to me. We elected to skip the first elegant night because hubby did not feel like getting dressed. They had most of the same menu items in the buffet except for the lobster tails, which is OK with me as I am more of a shrimp person. I will say, the oysters were not what we in SC are used to and I could not eat them. The breading is totally different, but the oysters themselves were very strong for lack of a better word and almost fishy like and did not taste like oysters I have eaten elsewhere, including FL. I usually love fried oysters, but not those. For casual dining they do suggest no flip flops, but I saw men in those, after telling my hubby he had to wear closed toed shoes! Next time I won’t worry about it. We did the “behind the Fun” tour (95.00) and enjoyed it very much. It was the first time we have ever done one. It was conducted by Benn, who was getting off the ship same day as us for 2 months of vacation, and he did an excellent job. The tour was very informative and there were several surprises which I will not reveal, or they won’t be surprises for you! I will say there are photo ops and ladies, you may want to take that into consideration! You must wear closed toed shoes for this excursion and no skirts or bathing wear. You cannot take a camera or a cell phone on the tour. There is time for bathroom breaks and a short refreshment break. Though most of the 3.5 hours was walking (stairs as well) and standing, there were several times, where you could sit for a few minutes. Most of our crowd was 50+ and no one seemed to have any challenges. One exciting moment was when we were off the coast of Jacksonville, an air force jet flew over the ship. It was so close and cool to see, would have loved to have had a picture of that! For pictures taken throughout the cruise, they are still posted in slots on the walls and you have hunt for yours. I never did find most of mine and figured we must have broken the camera! I did overhear a passenger chastising an employee for telling someone with him, that she could not take pictures, of the picture! I would think that is common sense, but the passenger was trying to make the employee feel bad for doing his job. Not cool. Just admit you’re wrong and move on. We did the stingray excursion in Princess Cays and it was very good, especially for the price. I have swum with stingrays many years ago in Cayman Islands and loved it, but that was challenging because the water was almost neck high for me and lots of waves to keep navigating. For this excursion, the area with the rays is blocked off from the rest of the beach, but is right there when you get to the beach. You walk right in and the rays swim around all the way up to the shoreline. You have the opportunity to pet them, snorkel in the beach area with them and later, feed them and hold them. The handler was very good and has been with them for 3 years. She said when a storm comes, they let them out of the fenced area, but they always come back. My husband was hesitant to get in because of the Steve Ervin incident, but he became more comfortable and did get in with them, though he did not feed or hold one! He took lots of pictures for me. We were allowed to take our own pictures, which was very nice. There were many lounge chairs on the beach (sun and shade) and float chairs to rent as well as many other things to rent. The stretch of beach is long, so keep walking and you will find a chair in an area you like. There was a nicer souvenir shop (takes the sign and sail card only) and straw market type booths as well as hair braiding offered. Bar service was good. Restrooms were limited, so don’t go at the last minute! Band played live music and that was nice. The lunch provided from the ship included hamburgers and hotdogs and was filling. They gave you very small cups for your drink though (lemonade, tea, water), like a bathroom sized dixie cup. People were busy cleaning up, not only the meal areas, but throughout the entire area. It was very clean there. The beach was calm but rocky, you do need water shoes! You must take tenders to the ship and we had no issues with those nor long lines. There was a small shallow pool in the kid’s playground area with lounge chairs. But the ocean was calm and little ones could sit right at shore. There were showers to wash off shoes, etc. but the stream of water was very limited and slow and they didn’t do much good. We did the walking tour in Nassau since we had already been there 3 times, and also did not want a beach day after Princess Cays. It was a very nice and informative tour, our guide was David who was great. It was hot, but he provided us with an iced water bottle about half the way. He also had devices we used so we could all hear him no matter where he was in the group. Highly recommend for a short and informative tour, 1.5 hours. We did not have trouble getting into any of the shows in the theater. It did get full for the love and marriage show, but by the way Adam talked, that was an anomaly, probably because we were in Nassau overnight and most stayed on the ship! For the comedy club, there are lines. The earlier you get there the better. We went about half an hour early and never had trouble getting seated. Once one show ends, everyone has to leave and if they want to attend the next show, they must go to the end of the already formed line. They did have staff at the door watching this. We preferred Jimmy Carroll as the comedian, but both comedians had long lines and full shows. The 18+ is not for kids for sure because mainly of the language. I did not play bingo, I have no idea what the cards cost, but they did give away a cruise on Wednesday, $3000.00 on Thursday and $5000.00 on Friday. There were less than 200 kids on our cruise, so the waterpark was not as crowded as it could be. I did see people on the ropes course. Numerous other outdoor sports options and mini golf. The main pool is not very large, but this seems to be an issue on all ships. There is a smaller waterfall and shallow pool on the serenity deck for adults only. That area is also very nice if you can get a chair. I think the area had been enlarged since my 2016 cruise. Embarkation was quick and easy, though because of the layout of the Charleston terminal, you do go to separate buildings, some walking, some riding a bus. There were no good signs for where we were to turn to park on embarkation day, despite there being good signs to the port itself. That is not Carnival’s fault of course and after turning around, we eventually found the way! You drive in and pay first, then drop your luggage, then go park. You walk to a building where you are checked in (it was quick) and then you go by bus (security reasons) to the ship where we went right on. The sign and sail cards are at your room when doors open at 1:30 (unless you have priority boarding, FTTF, etc. and get in your room early). It was about 12:30 when we got on. For debarkation (silent), also easy. We had to be out of our rooms at 8:30 am and most are off the ship by 9:30am. If you are checking your luggage, you pick up tags the day before departure for early (8:30-9:00) or late departure (9:00-9:30). Your bags are left outside your door the last night on the ship. The departure times are shown on your TV and on the big screen at the pool area, etc. I wish this could be added to the app. Those taking all their luggage off themselves, can start departing much earlier. Announcements are not made because Charleston asked they not be, but this worked just fine. When our number was shown, we went down and walked right off, very quick. When you get into the customs building, you pick up your luggage and go through customs. This took us only about 5 minutes. We normally get a porter, who can get you through a fast porter line, but there weren’t any available and it worked out fast anyway and we saved some bucks! We walked out to the shuttle buses, which take you to the parking lot. We were leaving the parking lot by 9:50am (our number was shown at about 9:15am on the lido pool deck, so entire process took about 35 minutes). There are people to assist those who need it. So, despite the oddities of the terminal (thanks to Charleston), the system works very well and was fast and efficient. I have waited much longer in fancier terminals! Efforts have been in the works to build a nicer terminal, but there are some in Charleston fighting that. I vote with someone who suggested moving up to North Charleston. It would be closer to the airport, less expensive hotels and the ship would sail under the Copper River Bridge! That would be a plus! Love sailing out of Charleston because it is 2 hours from my home. Just wish we had more ship options and more itinerary options. But I am thankful Carnival does offer what they do, as a small group of Charlestonians holds up progress and makes cruising from there difficult. Be glad to answer any questions I can. Overall and good cruise and plenty to do. Debbie Read Less

My family and I just returned from the 5 day Exotic Eastern Caribbean on the the Carnival Elation. Let me 1st start off by we never made it to any of our designated ports. My family and I have cruised a lot over the years and this by far was the worst cruise we have ever been on. This ship is older even after been refurbished in 2018. There is not a lot of activities on board, the staff is very unfriendly especially at the bars and Pixels. The pool is very small and the serenity deck has no pools only 2 hot tubs that the water was always freezing. We stayed on Deck 14 and the entire time we were on the ship there was only 1 working elevator on the ship that went to Deck 14. And half the time you had couldn't get on the elevator because there was a group of teenagers who were constantly joy riding on the elevator. The food on Lido was not great, and every time we ate at the dining room we were rushed by the staff. And if you purchase the alcohol package the drinks are very watered down. From the time the ship departed on Sat the entire ship was rocking. So badly that passengers were experiencing motion sickness. We departed on Sat 9/21 and was informed on Sunday that due to the ship experiencing mechanical problems we will not be docking at any of the designated ports. We were re routed to Nassau on Monday to see if the ship could be repaired, and left on Tuesday morning with the ship still not being able to be repaired.. There were no excursions offered by Carnival in Nassau because of the previous hurricane in the Bahamas. We were informed that we will be compensated with $100 on board credit per person and 50% off a future sailing. On board credit which you had to use on there ship, so in reality we got no compensation. I fully understand that sometimes issues comes up beyond our control, but I also believe in being treated fairly. The compensation we received for this cruise was terrible considering the hassle we went through. At no point and time was it any of the guest fault that the ship had mechanical issues. Carnival needs to step up and give all there guests that was on this sailing all a better compensation. My family and I probably would not consider Carnival for our next cruise unless we get some other form of compensation for this sailing. This ship needs to be retired it's old and outdated with just too many issues! Read Less

What a complete joke of a cruise. The ship is completely outdated, the food is subpar and not being able to actually go to your destination makes it a very frustrating experience. There was a billow of black smoke pouring out of one side of the stacks as we were about to depart. I knew something was wrong right away. Then the proceeded to take us into 10-15ft swell while telling us that we're not going to make our destinations due to engine problems. Incremental weather I understand but engine problems? I'd that's the case refund us instead of offering some measly ship credit. They should have decommissioned this ship because everything about is old. The pool holds 50 people max with a 2000+ people on board. The 3 jacuzzis are smaller than my bath tub at home and the decor is something out of an 80's movie. Somehow the stars on Cruise Critic show 4 but you can see its actually less than 3.5 stars..... Read Less

This is my 3rd cruise on the Breeze, once in 2014 and I decided I would not sail her again. Then my sister and I were looking for a cheap getaway, the pricing was good, so with some hesitation I booked the Breeze in July. We had a great time, the food was a marked improvement, entertainment good and service excellent. Then I booked the Bermuda cruise for September 21, with another couple. The itinerary was changed because of the hurricane. No problem, weather happens. The food was just mediocre at best. The steakhouse took forever and my husband got a tough ribeye, 2 of us didn't even get the meal we ordered. The Italian restaurant I have to say was the best meal we had all week. NOTE to VEGANS very few options for you, unless you want too eat pasta all week. We had no problems with the service on board. Embarkation was quick Debarkation was a nightmare with their new procedures. Everyone complained. It took us 2 and a half hours to get off the ship. This was about my 35th cruise, I have lost count and I am a platinum member with Carnival, but at this point I will stick to other lines.. The entertainment was okay, we mostly went to the comedy club. We spent time in the casion, it was very crowded and smokey.. I found the service good, everyone was very friendly and helpful. We chose this cruise and cruise line based on many great reviews that we read. We wanted something short as this was my first cruise and also we were wanting to bring our 18 month old. We were so excited to see they offered child care for children and the rooms were very nice with a lot of toddler activities or so it seemed. We were extremely disappointed. They advertise child care but don’t advertise their hours. We called NUMEROUS times to get details on the day care and never really got a straight forward answer. SO, here is the TRUTH! They offer child care from 8-10 am. And 10pm-1am. Which are both extremely unreasonable. Our son is asleep before 10, and we wanted to spend time with him in the mornings before people got too crazy later in the day. So the childcare was not beneficial to us in the least bit. The drink package is nice but what they don’t tell you is once you reach your 15 drinks you aren’t even allowed to purchase anything additional. For most people this wouldn’t be an issue. For anyone who might exceed that, here was your warning, lol. Also, you might as well just find a place to sit for the day and make sure it’s near a bar. You have to wait 5 minutes between each drink with the drink package but it takes about 20-25 minutes to get a drink. The cruise director “No-no” is awesome and made every activity so much fun! Even to watch since we didn’t participate in any activities due to no daycare like they advertise. It would have been nice to be able to go to shows and drop the baby off for those times but that wasn’t the case. Every staff member we encountered was extremely enjoyable and you could tell they loved their job. The only exception to that is the bartender in the sky box. I didn’t catch his name but each time we went in there he was extremely rude and obviously overwhelmed. Read Less

Be prepared to cough up a lot of extra money! Everything’s got an extra price on it. Photos are an unbelievable price! Average $20-30 each printed picture of about 5x7 or 8x10. And there are ALOT of pictures being taken- photographers are everywhere trying to pump this money making machine... whilst also talking you that you can’t take photos with your own phone of your family/child with the characters/port set up. Dr seuss breakfast- extra cost PLUS find yourself again paying $20 each picture taken with different characters. Food is ok in the dinning room, but you will find generally below average and luke warm in most places. Bingo- $35 for 5 games! Port stops in the Great Barrier Reef are very poor and EXTREMELY rushed. Expect to get about one hour to snorkel on most shore tours due to the very limited time spent at the ports of Airlie beach, Yorkeys Knob and port Douglas (meanwhile again coughing up on average $200+ pp for a snorkel tour of the reef) Oh and be aware your account will be held for all purchases while your sailing and will not be released when you get back BUT carnival will charge you the entire amount on top. Essentially double dipping into you account until the “holds” of amounts are released which they attempt to put back on to you own bank being the problem not them. I have sailed in the past and enjoyed but this time I will not come back the this company. Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate our anniversary. We like the short itinerary because we had never been on a cruise, and I am super prone to motion sickness. My wife was super excited as we arrived at Port Canaveral. We went through the embarkation process and got on the ship in about 10 or 15 minutes, which was outstanding. We paid for the faster to the fun package, so we should have been allowed immediate access to our room, but we were denied entry by multiple people and had to drag our garment bag and carry on around with is through the crowded lido deck and attempt to get food separated from each other to have one person watch the luggage. That's not exactly the perfect way to start the cruise. As I stated before, I am super prone to motion sickness, so I prepared with the ginger pill dramamine, which did really well for me, but the waves were horrible and rocked the ship until we heard nothing but complaining about it from every cruisegoer we met. I realize this isnt Carnival's fault, but I thought it rich when the captain said we will be having just a light chop for the last day, and it knocked stuff over in rooms. The food was sub par on the buffet, Golden Corral is better, and the lines are shorter. The service is good at the tables, but there are very few things that can be done to make it more palatable because almost everything is pre made. (Even the employees will admit this.) The Silver dining are was fun, but 75% of our meals were just ok. The prime rib on formal night was a giant, universal, fail. We really liked our waiter though, shout out to Cuckoo...as he said he should be called. The room was small, but it said 170 sq ft, so, what do you expect? Well, the shower was clogged, the AC was horrible, and the sink had no water pressure. The AC was fixed on the third night of the cruise, the shower was same day, and the sink never was. Out room attendant, Michael, was quick to accommodate us with a fan and calling maintenance. Nono was the cruise director, and she was awesome. I have nothing but good things to say about her. Nassau was a disappointment, Princess Cay was awesome. The people for the most part were great, and the other parts were not. We will be booking again, but we will try other cruise lines before returning to Carnival. Read Less

The new season for the Sunrise (aka Triumph), ok, lets break it down into a few areas. First shout out to the crew, they were wonderful, the whole trip were always upbeat and gracious as always. Second, the food we found to be cooked to our liking, and we always had our fill. Cruise Director-Mikey and staff most enjoyable we have encountered in 6 years of sailing. Especially having to make back up plans for 3 of the sailing days. Also he was very clear when he gave any instructions we needed to know. Entertainment- was refreshing to watch shows that wasn't the same thing we have seen on the Pride for the past 6 years. Now, for the flip side, for a ship that just went through a major over haul, some areas were sorely overlooked. And some of the deck plans weren't thought out very well, For example, deck 3 to get to the Aft Dining Room, you have to go up to Deck 5 and take the aft elevator (which most of the time only 2 of the 4 were working) back down to 3, The Carnival Hub App was a nice tool to have, sure you can bypass making your table reservation for the Aft Dining room on 5, but you can't request a specific table or server from the app, which in turn means you have a different server every night. The balcony rooms seem smaller than the other ships, there was only 1 night stand beside the bed, and the other side was about 7 inches from the wall/window to the balcony. Finally- with Carnival have a home port in Charleston, SC, you'd think that maybe they could have found more than 5 excursions for the guest to choose from when the docked there as an alternative port (since Bermuda was not an option). I can’t begin to understand how any one can complain about the ship. Although I was one of the unfortunate ones to have their ports cancelled due to hurricane Humberto, I still can’t say a bad thing. They’re giving us a free cruise for the inconvenience and the staff did amazing! Yes being stuck on a port for 6 out of 7 days during bad seas was rough but the staff did everything they can to make us feel safe and welcomed. EVERY STAFF MEMBER on that ship is AMAZING ! The entertainment is top notch.. food is the best I’ve ever had and I’m sorry there was no waiting , ship was clean and never felt crowded. The entertainment went on even though it was hard to stand on the stage , trust me I know I was on it as well. You can’t predict bad weather and we we’re u lucky but As I said the staff did everything they could to make it a fun cruise . All our excursions were refunded immediately . I would highly recommend guys burgers and the blue cantina, food was amazing . The alchemy bar was hands down the best drinks and most talented bartenders I’ve ever seen and that’s coming from a bartender myself, I learned a lot of tricks from them. I highly Recommend ignoring the bad reviews and booking this cruise! Read Less

We were big Carnival fans but then they got greedy and service and quality went down to the basement. But we came back last year and things had improved-not much but somewhat On the Pride the service was excellent everywhere we went. Our cabin steward Yasa was fantastic. we had cruised with him before on Carnival. He exceeded all expectations of service and being just a great guy. We usually have issues in the formal dining. I mean some bad slow service but this time on the Pride- HayDee and her team of Roland and Rexter were outstanding. They were terrific people. My wife cried on the last service saying goodbye-Yeah I got a little choked up too. Due to weather the production shows were modified but still good. I hope Carnival keeps them as they are fun and entertaining. Some other cruise lines have changed things up and we don't care for their entertainment Cruise direct Dr. E worked hard to keep the crown engaged. He was fun. We are senior citizens but like fun times and Carnival most of the time provides that. But we expect excellent service and decent food. Carnival keeps trickling UP their drink prices and gratuity while limiting choices like a "bar" brandy and 18% tag on for drinks. They are greedy. Parents- either leave your kids at home OR watch them- IT is NOT their ship to run all over screaming and hollering. All in all- a good time was had. Read Less

I chose this ship simply because it was the only porting out of new Orleans. If i had a chance to pick again. It would've been carnival dream or triumph which is carnival sunrise. The restaurants were basic..the only thing i enjoyed was the pizza. Normally i enjoy all restaurants, but not this go round. The food selection sucked. Oh yeah guys burger was absolutely amazing..including the ice cream was perfect. Customer service was also pretty good. Shows could've been better..ship very small..meaning its not alot to do on sea days besides sleep or casino activities. Maybe a couple raffles here & there. The entertainment was okay for the most part, I've experienced better on other ships. The ship on the 6th day was unbearable because of the rocking of the ship..alot of sea sickness. The biggest upset on my end was the buffet on lido deck. It was awful. Everyone taste bud is different and to each it's own. But i definitely didn't enjoy the food. So that was disappointing because i love trying new thing. Definitely in need of an upgrade. They don't even have "The wok" nor Italian restaurant Read Less
