-We were hoping to discover France's culture and French food, but only discovered Avalon's version. -Since we joined this Cruise from another Avalon cruise, there was no welcome aboard, only surprise from the staff when we asked for a daily activity sheet.(never did receive one) -Very nice accommodations, loved the large sliding window. -Loved the intimate lite meal options , in ...

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Alsvin

We chose this cruise because of the extension of Zermatt and Geneva. We had been to Zermatt years before and the call of the Matterhorn was before us, We were not so interested in the small towns in Germany along the way so because of cold weather and rain, we stayed with the ship and did not go on walks in those towns. We disembarked in Basil and did a city bus tour. Places we have visted ...

Wanted to revisit Normandy and visit Monet's home. As always Viking is very efficient and once on-board you can relax and enjoy all the wonderful amenities! We had been traveling on our own for a couple of weeks and loving it, but walking into our room and unpacking was like coming home! Experienced Paris by letting Viking do all the planing and as always a great job. I would just caution ...

Not as "wowed" as on our first Viking River Cruise

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Rolf

We chose this cruise mostly for the itinerary, and because we had such a great time on Viking's "Grand European". This was the first leg of "France's Finest" for us. While the trip was enjoyable, I wasn't impressed with some of the included excursions. I think I've toured enough churches, castle ruins and palaces to last the remainder of my life! There wasn't enough free time at some of the ...

Great itinerary....ship too big

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Royal Princess

Wanted a 15 day transatlantic with northern European emphasis. Never sailed Princess and probably wont be back. 2 1/2 hours to board in Southampton in a club class mini suite. Apparently mobility issues gets u on first but that was half the ship apparently. Ship was big and maximized cabin space at the expense of ship features. No where inside to escape the throngs...the Piazza reminds me of ...

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Kadlin

Though there was a good choice of tours, there was too much packed into the day. There was no time to browse. The Normandy day was long and not enough time at the museum if any..which is a shame because it was why we came. There was more time at the English Museum. The guide was very hard to understand. The Giverny tour was very good. The tour of Notre Dame was too short with no time to browse and ...

We wanted to see World War II beaches/memorials primarily; also, spend 3 days in Paris prior to cruise. We like the convenience of unpacking once with good food and wine available. However, we were surprised and somewhat disappointed that we spent as much time on buses to excursions and that itinerary seemed a bit confused, i.e., we went to Monet's Garden one day then the next drove by it ...

5 STAR ASPIRATIONS - 3 STAR DELIVERY

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Scenic Pearl

First Time Cruiser • Age 70s

5 STAR ASPIRATIONS - 3 STAR DELIVERY!! As a preamble I should say we are comparing the Scenic offer with Seabourn which is a true 5 Star product. This was our first river cruise and I appreciate that many of the downsides identified are typical of the river cruise experience and not unique to Scenic. First the good points 1 The staff were excellent and tried very hard. However due to the ...

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Scenic Gem

The reason for doing this cruise is that we wanted to explore Australia`s involvement during WW1 and WW2 plus see the French country side from the comfort of a luxury river cruise ship. The ship was generally very comfortable, excellent staff but failed in the quality of food supplied. The embarkment and disembarkment went smoothly and was well organised. One person in our party is a ...

This is a review of our second Vantage European River Cruise entitled “France Culinary Delights: Paris to Normandy” (MS River Venture, 13 days, June 2018). We took our first river cruise last year with Vantage (Majestic Rivers of Europe: Castles, Cathedrals & Fairytales, Budapest to Amsterdam, MS River Splendor, 15 days, June 2017) and rated it five stars. This cruise (2018) was barely three ...
