We wanted to see World War II beaches/memorials primarily; also, spend 3 days in Paris prior to cruise. We like the convenience of unpacking once with good food and wine available.

However, we were surprised and somewhat disappointed that we spent as much time on buses to excursions and that itinerary seemed a bit confused, i.e., we went to Monet's Garden one day then the next drove by it again on way to beaches. We did not feel we had enough time at the Normandy sites. The lovely but totally unnecessary long lunch that day could have been simplified which would have given more time. Also, the embarkation village was a total non-event.....perhaps a more inviting place with something to actually see?

There were some real highlights: the trip to the apple farm with sheep dog demonstration was outstanding, our favorite sidetrip. The hostess was delightful. The light show at night at Rouen an unexpected treat and awesome. The time we did have at Normandy beaches was highlighted by the special program, very special..
