Wonderful First Cruise

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

This was our first cruise and first trip to Alaska and it was the most wonderful trip. The ship is lovely and spotless. It took us 20 minutes to go through the process and get onboard. No issues or problems, it was a breeze. We ate at the buffet, main dining room, Murano and Tuscan. All were very good with the exception of Tuscan. I think that was because we loved Murano so much. We ...

Learned a lot about Alaska.

Our family of 5 included my husband and me, ages 56, and my sons ages 21 and 22 and my daughter age 24. Some of our thoughts: Food: Was mostly average. It took two hours to get through dinner in the main dining room. Our waiter was friendly the first day but less so as the days passed. Unlike other cruises, where they learn what you like and make suggestions or just bring the foods you ...

Treated like a Celebrity

I will break up my review by Embarkation/Debarkation, Food, Cabin, Service, activities. First off this was my third time to Alaska, second with Celebrity. I have gone in May, July, and August, I must say May was the best weather we have had out of the three months. Sunny in every port and pretty warm! Embarkation/Debarkation- Was some of the smoothest I have every experienced with any ...

Customer service

This ship knows how to do customer service. I'm elite on this cruise because of being diamond on Royal Caribbean. I always order flowers for my cabin---well on this cruise I did that and the Captain's Club also sent me a vase with a rose on 2 orcaids. I was also invited to go on the Heli Pad going thru Tracy Arm. 30 cruises and I've never done that. This one Specialty restaurant called Merano ...

The Solstice is well appointed and the staff generally great. The Captain was an amazing navigator thru the Tracy Arm which turned out to be a trip highlight. There did not seem to be announcements in the rooms, so we may have missed out on some information. The Excursion staff was a weakness cancelling excursions early and not being helpful for those who arranged on their own as we did part of ...

Ship shakes badly

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

We enjoyed this cruise but something that almost ruined it for us was the ship's shaking. Especially when using front thrusters. We thought something was going to break! Our drinks in the Sky lounge were shaking off the table. A bent prop or something and I feared for the safety of the ship. I know this is not normal because I didn't experience this anywhere else. The Oceanview Cafe for some ...

This was my first cruise and sailing to Alaska sounded different and exotic. It was all it was cracked up to be and I have now already booked two more cruises to follow. I decided on taking this cruise in May basically to get a cheaper fare. Had great weather, and actually no rain. I guess I was lucky, but it paid off. No crowds in port. I'd recommend taking the chance and go in May. The only ...

The Celebrity I Am Used to Sailing

After waiting 2 months after a disasterous Constellation cruise, I have to say this cruise was FABULOUS.. It took that very, very bad taste out of my mouth and Alaska was awesome! It had been 6 years since my last cruise there and I am so glad I finally decided to go back. Weather was in the 50's/60's throughout the week and Mother Nature shone down upon us with SUNNY days too...one small ...

Tour Alaska -- It's Great

Actual date was 5/8/2015, but Cruise Critic would not allow going back that far. It was to Alaska, not Australia. This was our first cruise and Alaska was on our bucket list. We didn't know what to expect, but now we're cruise addicts and have two more cruises booked. My wife is on a minimal protein diet, and everyone was most accommodating. Received a good deal on a veranda cabin, C3 - 1265, and ...

My husband and I took our daughter and her boyfriend on an Alaskan adventure! We are 51 and they are 28/32. I was surprised that they loved it so much! This was our experience: Embarkation in Seattle was a breeze. We were on the ship in less than 20 min. We upgraded to Aqua class so there was an express line. The Ship: Was clean and pretty. Its the biggest ship they allow in Alaska so doing ...
