Our family of 5 included my husband and me, ages 56, and my sons ages 21 and 22 and my daughter age 24. Some of our thoughts:

Food: Was mostly average. It took two hours to get through dinner in the main dining room. Our waiter was friendly the first day but less so as the days passed. Unlike other cruises, where they learn what you like and make suggestions or just bring the foods you typically order, that did not happen. Highlights in the main dining room were the lobster on the last night, the lamb chops and the jerk chicken. The desserts were disappointing across the board. It took so long for the coffee and tea to come that our dessert was generally eaten before they arrived. Our table was in the back near the kitchen and wine storage with no view. If I could have, I would have sat closer to a window. The someelier was great, energetic and engaged. Our assistant was friendly, too. I think a lot of the tables had poor views or locations. The Oceanview Café was bright and had lots of fruits and breads. The food was pretty good considering that it was mass produced but there wasn't a lot of variety from day to day for lunch and dinner. That's why we chosed to eat dinner regularly in the MDR. Breakfast was fantastic at the buffet. Every option you could think of.

Cabin: We didn't see much of our cabin steward. There was plenty of storage and the bathroom was spacious. Loved the shower. We had a balcony. A must for Alaska. We were in 8215 and 8219, midship and it was quiet.
