We chose this cruise because of the itinerary. embarkation at San Juan was long. We flew in the day of and when we got to the port there were two lines that were not marked well. One line for luggage and the other with no luggage. Once you stood in line to drop your luggage off then you had to go stand in the other line without luggage. The ship was clean and in the room you could smell the new carpet. The safety drill was very long and hot. they made everyone stand in rows on deck 5 while someone talks and demonstrates what to do which you couldn't see or hear a word. We ate at the Windjammer all the time and it was good. Entertainment on the ship started very late (10 pm) or later. We are morning risers so we didn't partake in that. We did a shore excursion at every port. We did snorkeling/ beach at every port. They all offered Rum Punch on the excursions. It is very good! St Maarten was a ghost town. a couple shops open but not many. St Kitts was great shopping, Antigua was fun! Do an excursionist there do wonder off the path. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we had never been to the Caribbean before and we wanted to see as much as we could. It had a very busy itinerary with 6 ports. And we thought based on reading reviews that Royal Caribbean would be a good fit for us as first time cruisers. The dining experiences at the signature dining restaurants (Giovanni's and Chops) were fantastic! Very quiet and intimate and so delicious! Fantastic service! The main dining room (Sapphire) was adequate. The food ranged from very good to not great. I liked the atmosphere and service was friendly. WE were very surprised to really like the Windjammer buffet. Didn't think we would spend much time there. But my husband loved the variety and found the quality to be superior to some of the main dining room food. We did not eat at Izumi or Johnny Rockets. The promenade snacks - pizza, cookies, sandwiches, etc. were fun options and everyone seemed to take advantage of them in the later evening when the buffet was closed. Embarkation was super smooth. We got there early (noon) and didn't wait. Every day getting on and off for island days was also very smooth if not very friendly. WE always felt like cows getting back on board - barked at by all of the herding dogs to get through security - the only unpleasant necessary thing we experienced, every day...and long waits for elevators at this time of day. We were off the ship much more than we were on...not a lot of time to do the rec activities. We did utilize hot tubs (when we could find one to fit into) and the pool once. The one sea day we had turned out to be cold, so we didn't do water slides or any other activities that day. Ship was beautiful and fun to explore. Met lots of great, often international people. So many languages spoken. People of all ages represented, although it seemed that older couples (40-60's) were probably the majority. There were several families, mostly with smaller children. This was in April. Our significant low points (which will cause us to research another cruise line for the next trip): It is far from an all inclusive experience. You are nickel and dimed to death if you want to do anything. (drinks, wifi, included daily tips and gratuities). The spa was very over priced. And people are offering you things all of the time. We tried to give everything a shot as it was our first time, so we explored the shopping seminars and the art auction. They were such scams; it was unreal. I was embarrassed for RC to have them on there. The cruise director and team were high energy but also rather immature and all of the get togethers, games, competitions went to very suggestive places, rather raunchy at times, even though there were children around and an abundance of older people. Did not seem like the right crowd for such college level humor. Not appealing to us for sure. We only utilized RC for one shore excursion at San Juan where they took our suitcases on to the airport and we explored old town. They were there when we got there, guarded outside by one girl on her cell phone. Our suitcase did get rained on and its contents were wet including the book we had in it. We utilized Shore Excursions Group for all of our other 5 excursions, and were quite pleased overall. Some were definitely better than others because of the specific guide. We had a great time on our cruise. We will probably try another line to see if we can find a better fit. Read Less

We picked this cruise for the 5 ports and only one at sea day. We started in SAN Juan as we wanted to be in the heat immediately. Although the ship is showing its age in some areas, overall it was clean, well maintained and the crew and staff were friendly, helpful and professional. The dining room service was excellent, windjammer was easy to navigate and the food was what we expected as we had cruised RC previously. Getting on the ship was easy and we liked the fact that they had a wine store on location so that you could purchase your allowed 2 bottles of wine to take on board. Our cabin was a recent new addition in March 2018 and was all new. The ship is easy to navigate and not crowded like it was on bigger ships. As expected the ship allows smoking within the casino which is really the only negative thing we encountered. Entertainers were fun to watch and varied each night. Our port days allowed for smooth departing and returns and overall were well worth the visit. St.Marrtan is in rough shape and we spent most of our time at the beach. All of our shore excursions were booked privately as we found that when booking with RC you pay quite a lot more for the same excursions. Our sea day was filled with trying out the activities such as the water slides, mini golf, table tennis, hot tubs and watching the belly flop contest. Overall we had a great time and would consider doing the same size ship again in the future. Read Less

This cruise was very enjoyable, the weather was wonderful and we met lots of great people. The only thing that could be better was checking into the port in San Juan. The lines where very long and it seemed like they needed to increase the staff. The food was OK in the dining room and the buffet. The entertainment was my highlight and very good. I cruised with Royal Caribbean before and didn't enjoy the entertainment but this time they really went above and beyond. The comedian at the beginning of the the week was very funny (we need to laugh people), the ice show was very entertaining. the game shows were interactive and loads of fun, the activity director knows how to have fun, but the HIGHLIGHT for me was the Tribute to Whitney Houston. This woman Stephani Parker is the bomb! She is truly the "Diva of the Seas". Not too many people can pull off one Whitney song but she had them all down pact! A huge thank you to Stephani for her presentation, entertainment and love for a great artist with her own sweet style! My group hopes we can see her again on our next Royal Caribbean cruise. Can now cross off the ABC Islands from my bucket list! Embarkation- Our flight landed in San Juan at 10:30AM on Saturday 4/28/18. Took about 1 hour to collect our luggage as we shared the baggage area with another flight that got in about the same time we did. Got to the terminal around 11:45, onboard enjoying Lunch in the WJ by 12 noon. Food - We thought all the venues we used (MDR, WJ, Cafe Promenade, and Room Service) had good, hot, and tasty variations every day -MDR: we had My Time Dinning and the first night got table 176 which is level one in Sapphire right at the bottom of the stairs. Awesome Waiter VJ and assistant Manuel. We were able to reserve this table for every night for the duration of our cruse. Even with their new menus, we always had a good choice of Fish, Chicken, Pasta, Steak, and other meat/Beef options. My favorite dish was their Beef Short Ribs which I've never had before. -WJ: Could always find a seat, food very good and varied everyday. Good waiter/drink service -Cafe Promenade: Never more than a line of 5-7 people deep anytime of day we visited. Pizza ok, really good around 2am (lol). Good tasty sandwich selections, the Greek Salad Pita was awesome! -Room Service: Did it twice, delivered in about 30-35 minutes. Was hot and tasty, also had great Cobb Salad and you get a personal size Pepperoni Pizza that was better than from the Cafe. Voom Surf and Stream - We thought it performed much better than on our HOTS cruise last June, albeit with my Droid (but not with my daughters iPhone) occasionally freezing when coming up from Deck 3 to our stateroom on deck 10. I had to disable/re-enable wi-fi to get it working Stateroom - We had a JS #1340, starboard side, mid-aft on deck 10. New carpet and drapes. 2 chairs, a lounge char, and table on our Balcony. Cabin Steward Nickoli just ok, always saw him on his phone. A couple of times, he took till 1PM to refresh our cabin. Next door stateroom #1342 tried to flush something down the toilet they shouldn't have, and blocked all flushing for about 10 nearby cabins till Maintenance could clear the blockage. A/C worked really well. On our cruise, AOS always docked Port Side with Island views. Shows - They were good. Lyric Thereat was never full, we had Invitation to Dance, Jackpot, Headliner Marcus Terell (semi-finalist on America's Got Talent) and a couple of Comedians. CD Chris Brown was alright,, I think Magic Marvin should take over as CD. Quest and Majority Rules was awesome, Hot Art Ice show was good, though they just brought on new performers and they must have being getting used to the small rink and skating during a day at sea, as there were at least 3 falls and trips. Unlimited Drink Package - Anything over $12, you had to pay the difference. Could always order a Drink and a Bottle of Water together, or order two drinks showing 2 valid DX coded Seas Passes. Plenty of Bar tenders and waiter serving drinks onboard. Islands - Fantastic!!! We did our own exploring and/or renting taxi's for the day, JEEP for the Day in Aruba (run, don't walk from renting from Royal Car Rental in Aruba), and Zip Line from Rain Forest Adventures in St Maarten. Visited the Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino, Divi Flamingo Beach Resort & Casino in Bonaire, and the awesome Holiday Inn Resort Aruba - Beach Resort & Casino on Palm Beach, with them allowing ys to use their loungers on the beach. Our favorite experiences were renting a taxi for a 3 hour private tour in Curacao that included Hato Caves, Flamingos, and multiple stops for great pictures, finding the new Natural Cave Pool in Aruba, the Zip Line in St Maarten, that had fantastic friendly staff every where on the old Rockland estate property, and then spending some time on the Great Bay Beach and Boardwalk, renting two lounge chairs and umbrella right at the Blue Bitch Bar an Restaurant (great load Cheeseburgers and Rum Punch) Disembarkation - Waited one hour from collecting our luggage to clearing customs. Tip: Get in the line that parallels 'Gold Card' C&A members, they had two agents working who would also check non Gold members vs just one agent check all others. There was also a separate line for porters to help you clear customs. Post Cruise Stay - One night stay @ the Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel. Great location in Old San Juan withing walking distance of a lot of attractions and sites. One the 2nd floor outdoor Dinning area, got to watch AOS sail silently off into the night at 8:30, on her reposition cruise to Cape Liberty, Bayonne NJ, and during breakfast Sunday morning, see the CCL Fascination right in front of us, and the Jewel of the Seas glimmering off in the short distance from the Pan America Pier. Overall, we loved this cruise, the islands, the staff we met, new friends we found onboard, the friendly locals we met, and our ADVENTURE we had in the Southern Caribbean! Read Less

The cabin is spacious and well located, also, the service is pretty good. Related to the dinning room, It was exceptional located and best service is offered to guest. The maitres was very frendly with my wife and I. The are a lot of activities on the ship to entertain youth and older people, all activities well organized. I have to mentioned the good service on Windjammer and service desk were the Serv Rep were very frendly with my wife and me. Its important to mention that the ports of PR, St Marteen and Cape Liberty are great ports to visits were Royal caribbean has a lot of excursion available for all. Wit probability if we go to a cruise on next Dec 16, 2018 (4 adults and 2 children) we select the Freedom with new port in Puerto Rico. Best succcess Read Less

My wife and I were in a junior suite, 6392, at the aft of the ship. This room is considered an obstructed view. Yes, there are things that may “hinder” your view, but I was still able to see the water and everything else that a normal balcony could see. The food was excellent and awesome how you can try multiple things at dinner in the main dining room. Room attendant was amazing and made sure to have our room service while we were out to dinner. My only gripe would be the internet and the bar service during shows or games (I.e. Bingo). The internet is expensive and out of a 5 night cruise, I waited till the 4th night to get and it still was $35 for one device (10% discount). The bar service during the theater shows and games was sparse to say the least. There were not enough bar tenders and view, if not none, attendants walking around and if you got one of the attendants, you were better off going to the bar yourself. Read Less

We were excited for the destinations offered - Orlando, CoCo Cay and Nassau. Unfortunately, there is not enough time to fully enjoy the Walt Disney World Parks based on the transfer time and length of time in the port of call (we spent as much time getting to/from park as we did at the park). As such, I don't recommend wasting your money the shore excursion to Disney or the price of Disney Admission on this route. Coco Cay was nice, other than the fact that it was cool, overcast and windy. It seemed like there were many activities, but unfortunately many were closed/canceled due to the weather (e.g. we couldn't rent jet skis because of the wind/rough sea state). The inflatable water park was closed because it was low tide which was disappointing. The SCUBA diving was good and the staff was helpful. Food at Coco Cay was good (same as on the ship) and free. Nassau (Atlantis) was awesome if you are into water slides and beaches. Lines for water slides were nearly non-existent (longest wait was 5-10min). Beach chairs were plentiful. The Aquarium was amazing - wish I had known about the interactive Shark experience before I got to the park. Be sure to bring a credit card, because most kiosks at Atlantis don't accept cash for payment. As far as the Adventure of the Seas: Pros: the staff is awesome. They go out of their way to make sure you have a great time. Our cabin steward waited on us like we were royalty. The food in the main dining room was great. The Windjammer (buffet) was amazing - huge selection of great food and staples every meal. Casino was nice with cheap tables (e.g. $1 roulette, $5 blackjack). The shows were awesome. Cons: Casino had many slot machines that were not working. There are weight restrictions for water slides and rock wall. Several of the video games in the arcade were not functioning or broken (steering wheel wouldn't control the car). Only one of the self serve ice cream machines worked which lead to long lines. The disembarkation procedure is chaos and needs significant improvement. Read Less

We chose this cruise to save money buying flight tickets. Overall it was a great experience, we had fun. The staff was super attentive and friendly. The only down side was the amount of days at sea. I would have rather had another day in the Bahamas instead of stopping at Port Canaveral. And of course longer hours at the private island. Embarkation and disembarkation went smooth in every port of call. The ship was really nice with many stores. The only store missing was like some type of convenience store just in case travelers needed everyday essentials. Our cabin was very clean but dated. Dinning was great since we took advantage of tasting and trying almost every dish on the menu. Entertainment was great whenever we had time to make it to one. Since we had dinner at 8pm we missed a lot of 9pm shows. We did travel with our children ages 17 and 10. My youngest sons only complaint was that they did not have enough sports competitions and tournaments for his age group, they were mostly for adults. I would definitely travel with Royal again if the price is right and a different itinerary. Read Less

Hard to get into pool way to crowded with kid being aloud to go into everything . Party of 5 (Mom(44) Dad (42), DD (17) DS#1 (16) DS#2 (10) Avid Cruisers Rooms 8465 and 8467 (Adjoining/connecting Cabins) My Time Dining The good- Embarkation and debarkation Smooth and well organized. Arrived at the port around 12:00, Was at the ship by 12:35p. No major lines and security very organized and professional. Headed directly to the WJ to grab some lunch until cabins were ready (they moved the time to 1:30P) Debarking was the same, very organized, no major lines anywhere and bags were available when they said they were going to be available. The best debarkation process we have experienced (and we travel a lot!) Food at the MDR Decent, well prepared and good selection. Lobster offered on Day 6. Escargot available the first 3 days. NY Strip Available every day (we ordered twice and came at perfect temperature) Desserts are nothing fancy, and some are not that good. The Onion and Goat Cheese Tart is AMAZING. Service in the cabins Cabins are serviced twice a day, and kept immaculate. Great service from the Cabin Steward. He really seemed genuine in wanting to know us. Super guy. Diamond Club Never crowded. Nice offerings of drinks and snacks from 4:30-8p. We were able to use our drinks in the MDR without problems. Very Accommodating ambassador Cafe Promenade I heard so many bad things about this cafe and their pizza, that I wanted to go and check it out myself. Perhaps I imagined it to be sooo bad that in reality was ok! LOL... Of course is not the BEST pizza ever, but when your kids are hungry, coming from port and just want a quick bite to tie you up until dinner (since you havent eat in the last 6min!) this hit the spot. I was under the impression that only pizza was offered in this cafe, but they have finger sandwiches (varied selection every day) salads, fruits, dessert and cookies. They also offer breakfast sandwiches and fruit cups and yogurt and granola each morning. This was perfect for us, because we dont like buffets (WJ) and we wanted to sleep in, so didnt go to the MDR for breakfast. It fitted us and what we wanted. The music bands in Boleros There was a Latin Music band (3 Mexican guys) that played everything from Salsa to Merengue to Bachata and they were awesome! and there was another band with more contemporary music, great selection of soft rock, 80's and 90's that was fantastic. Port-of-calls Great places, rich in culture and sights, explored the cities with gusto and curiosity. Portland- Took a trolley tour through the city (booked ourselves) BarHarbor- Went to Acadia Park with Oli's Trolley, fantastic! Saint Johns- Visited several times before so we did our own thing, walking and visiting on our own. Halifax -LOVED it!!! did our own thing, Citadel, and Promenade. The bad- Service. It has definitely gone downhill in RCCL. So sad about this because I didnt want to believe what I read about this. There were a few here and there that really went above and beyond (our Cabin Steward, Waiter and Assistant Waiter on table 266, the Diamond Club Manager, 2 Guest Services Agents and 1 Casino Cashier) All the others we encountered, it was like they didnt want to be there... and perhaps they dont want to be there. No eye contact, short, rude and plain awful. It didnt spoil our vacay, but definitely not what it used to be. WJ Let me start saying that we are not buffet ppl. I cant stand the mess and the rude patrons eating with their hands and then reaching out to the thongs to serve themselves some more. So I am the first one to say that my view *might* be skewed LOL... Buffet was messy, no themed what so ever. Its like they put random dishes out there... Mind you this is just my impression of the ONE day I ate there. Might not be a totally fair review. JUST MY OPINION Read Less

Main dining room food was disappointing. Windjammer restaurant food was excellent on themed nights. Service was excellent in main dining room and good in WJ. The temperatures in Maine and Canada were in the 40's and low 50's. Would suggest this cruise not be offered in early June but more like mid- June and later. Very good fitness area. Cardiovascular machines were good but a bit old. Weights were pretty good. Lots of treadmills. Wonderful production shows, and events. Singers and dancers were outstanding and someone remarked that they were 'Broadway' caliber. Staff was dedicated to excellent service and always friendly. This included dining rooms, guest services and, really, all over the ship. Shore excursions were not as good due to the cold weather but that was not the fault of the crew. All-in- all, minus the weather, and main dining room food, it rated a 4 of 5 stars. Read Less

We chose this cruise as an alternative to the same old Caribbean/ Bahamas.... This was a fantastic cruise even though the weather was cold. It was humorous seeing everyone scramble to buy sweatshirts and jackets in Portland and bar harbor. We did the Kennebunkport excursion. We really enjoyed all of the stories and history of the area from our tour guide Dotti. It was neat to see where president bush vacations in the summer. The whole area was stunning to say the least. Really made you want to live there. In bar harbor and St John's, we chose to walk around ourselves as there is so much to see and so many shops to go into. In Halifax, we went on the Peggy's cove excursion. The tour guide was excellent and really knowledgeable. I can't remember his name, but he was a retired science teacher and it showed! Peggy's cove was amazing, and you should see it, but there were too many tour busses for such a small area, which made it over crowded. The ship itself is immaculate and someone is constantly working to keep it that way. We found that the best food was in the wind jammer. Food was always hot, and there were so many things to chose from that there was no way to try it all. I can't see how anyone couldn't find something they like. They had a panini bar everyday for lunch, and dinner always had different items each day. The service in the dining room was spectacular and Joseph and kaixin really went out of their way to see that you had all that you needed. The food however was so so. A lot if the sauses were flavorless and the veggies a little undercooked. But still over all decent. And if you didn't get what you want, you can always leave and go to the windjammer which was open untill 9. Also the promanad had different little sandwiches everyday to snack on which was nice. Last year on the allure, they were the same every day and you got tired if it. The entertainment was top notch from the comedians to the bands. We spent a good deal of time at boleros listening to the bands. Our favorite was the elevation band. They played a variety of music. Arnie, Wilford, Jose, and Aileen never made you wait long for a drink, and we really enjoyed getting to know them and they enjoyed us as well, and wanted to know about our lives as well..overall I would definitely recommend this cruise. It was our best cruise ever, and that is saying something considering the weather was in the 40's and 50's Read Less

Check in was busy but organised. Windjammer restaurant was so full I picked up some pizza from the Cafe promenade on deck 5 and sat in the Imperial Lounge at the front of the ship until the cabins we're ready. Not many people had found this lounge. As I was on my own for this cruise, with a hand luggage case, I couldn't really go far until I got rid of my case, so annoying you cannot drop stuff off in your cabin. At 1.30 a lady appears by the cabins and said they were not quite ready but we could get in. Well, having seen them turn them around on changeover days in minutes, I'm not quite sure why they weren't all ready! My gripes. No cereal at cafe promenade nor the diamond lounge. I had to literally walk to the back of the ship in the Windjammer to get some cereal. No weetabix although the they did look for me. No orange juice at Cafe promenade either. Not a very good advert for continental breakfast. However, it's the first cruise for a long time that I've been on where they haven't run out of orange, probably because it was hard to find! Guest services basically said tough! As I was literally at the front of the ship and Orange juice and cereal at the back, I ordered room service for breakfast. Orange juice varied in thickness and sometimes items were missing but very nice people. Food in the Windjammer was good, but unfortunately cold at dinner time. They were always 5 minutes late opening for lunch and dinner and clearly food had been left out to get cold. I found going about 20 minutes later was best as they had bought fresh hot food out by then. Being a diamond member now has certain perks. However, it is disappointing that I had to ask for my free welcome gift for 2 days! Also had to ask for dressing gown and toiletries. Was handy that I could book excursions with the diamond Concierge, Christopher who was fabulous. Also enjoyed the complimentary behind the scenes theatre tour. Shows were disappointing. One night there wasn't a main show. The Elton John tribute act sounded nothing like him. The show was 7pm yet they kept letting people in at 7.30 pm which was very annoying keep moving to left people past. They should close the doors and remind people of the times, after after all, there was a later show! The comedian on the last night was very good. Cabin was lovely at the front of the ship, tucked away down a short corridor. Good views out front. Cabin steward was excellent. Although some aspects were disappointing, the service always stands out on Royal C and I love the layout of the ships and the activities during the day and eveing. I went for the ports on this cruise and was not disappointed. The flow rider is excellent, rock climbing wall, sports court, table tennis, swimming pools, jacuzzi. The soft serve ice cream was good fun. Johnny Rockets nice place to go for small cover charge. They have added water shutes which overhang the ship - scary but fun. So much for people of all ages to do. Portland, Maine, USA - plenty of local sight seeing tours and far cheaper than the Ships tours. It was a very long walk off the ship over the walkway bridges just to get to the pier but plenty of shops. Tourist information very helpful. I took the local trolley tour of the city and lighthouse for $28 - ship was charging $55. Not many restrooms in Portland, was directed to the coffee shop over the road. Even the lighthouse park only had porta loos. Bar Harbor USA - not sure there was a need to drop the anchor at 5.30am. Seriously, the noise would have woken the dead! Let's be honest it was so cold and pouring with rain that nobody in their right mind would claw off the ship at that time! An hour and a half later would have been sufficient. Ten minute tender ride in the local touring boats took me shore. Lovely restaurant on the pier and restrooms. Main shops literally just over the road. The shop on the pier was selling tours. I had opted for a Ship tour here to Acadia National Park. The time was changed twice since I booked before I left the UK. Unfortunately the weather was not good. The rain and cloud had set in by the time we got to the top of Cadillac mountain. Really a good guide would have gone straight up there and then toured around the park on the way down! The wind was biting at the top! St John, New Brunswick, Canada - docked right next to port (on the right side of the ship) although still quite a long weaving walkway off. Just outside the terminal building (restrooms in the building) is a white tent selling a wide variety of souvenirs and TAX free. They accept US or Canadian dollars. I didn't see any local tours unless they were further outside. Inside the building they were selling the same tours as on the Ship and they added the m to your Ship account. I purchased a 1 hour 15 minute trolley tour which goes around the city and to the reversing Rapids. I have to say it was way overpriced at $49 and was not value for money. It was the same price as the HOHO and I suspect that was better value. The Rapids were nothing special. I guess it depends on the time of day you visit but it's just fast flowing water, really not that big a deal as the hype! The zip wire over the Rapids was actually to the side of it and not over them. Halifax, Nova Scotia - port was on the left hand side of the ship. Nice view of a lighthouse to the right of the ship. Terminal building has lots of stalls which you pay in both Canadian or USD. They did say to check if you get USD back in change though. I booked the Ships' Peggy's Cove and Titanic tour. Lots of buses as clearly a very popular tour. It took half an hour to get on a bus. Eventually we left and went to the cemetery first. Our guide told some stories about some of those who died on the Titanic and showed us their graves and headstones. It was a long ride (45 mins) to Peggy's Cove. Nice views of the lighthouse and fishing village there. Of course there is a gift shop there too with nice clean restrooms. You can pay in USA or Canadian dollars but only get Canadian dollars back if you pay in USD. Disembarkation - I booked a tour and airport drop off and had to meet at 8.30 although the advertised time said 9.30. They explained in the lounge that this was to allow time to get off the ship, go through customs and get luggage. In reality it took 10 minutes to get off the ship. Tour was good, spent a lot of time in traffic as NY is a nightmare for vehicles. After just over an hour, we stopped to view the 9/11 memorial and local area for around an hour. The rest of the tour was driving past the sights including Central Park. We dropped off at 2 airports and eventually got to JFK. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary and I was celebrating my birthday. Embarkation at Port Liberty was very smooth and well organized. We chose a 10:30 am check in time and were able to board the ship immediately. We were not allowed to access our cabin (oceanview 7504) till 1pm. It gave us plenty of time to explore the ship and order cocktails. The Wind Jammer was open for lunch and provided a lot of food choices, Food was tasty,We endured the muster drill and we left the port on time. First day at sea there were plenty of available lounge chairs on the pool decks and serenity area. Service was excellent and attentive. Port Canaveral FL- Embarkation was smooth we chose the Cocoa Beach Shuttle. The shuttle was readily available when we got off the ship. We stopped at Ron Jon's Souvenir shop and picked up a couple of things. Nice store very large and inexpensive. The bus dropped off one block away from the souvenir shop and six blocks from the beach. It was a very hot day so we shopped and got back on the bus which ran every 30 minutes. Missed the beach. I heard it was nice. Cocoa Cay- Not so nice. It took us an hour to get on a tender to shore. Embarkation didn't seem organized. They didn't have several tender boats ready for us so it took some time. We had booked a sun lounger for two. Needless to say the sun loungers were very far away from the souvenir shops, buffet and bars. We were traveling with friends so when we arrived to claim our sun lounger the lady checking us in was a little nasty. At first she wouldn't allow for our friends to enjoy this (private area). Only after bickering with her for ten minutes did she allow for our friends to pull up lounge chairs next to our sun shade. The buffet lunch offered was only till 1:30 pm. We docked at noon spent an hour getting off the ship therefore only had 1 half hour to eat. Very disappointing. We had to be shuttled over to the buffet area. The food was adequate. Hamburgers, hot dogs, corn and tasteless bbq ribs and peppered chicken. We weren't impressed with the beach either. It low tide so you had to walk a mile to get out to the ocean. Walking on sand flats were no fun. So we went back to the ship and enjoyed ourselves there. Nassau- We took the Essential Nassau tour very nice and informative. Visited a rum cake bakery, rum distillery, queens steps and Atlantis Hotel. This was a great tour. We missed a lot of the shows. Our dinners took about two hours. Don't miss the ICE show. That was great! Overall we had a nice time on the cruise. Eat at Johnny Rockets Great burgers! Read Less

Royal Carribean cruises are the best in my books... the food, entertainment and crew are great, I especially enjoyed our dining on this cruise. There were fifteen in our group and we had so much fun on and off the ship... there was so much to do while cruising and when we docked we had a great time on the islands, except for the rain on Coco Cay, but we still managed to relax when the rain stopped and the sun came out.... had a nice buffet also. On Nassau we swam with dolphins and relaxed on their beautiful beach, very clean. The water was nice clear and warm. The boat that took us to and from the beach was a wonderful experience in itself... entertainment on the ship was great.. I really enjoyed the Village People, parades, ice skating, bingo," although I didn't win". We had an inside cabin which is okay because we only showered and slept there. Others in our party had a balcony and a suite.... which I hope to do on my next cruise " they are beautiful." I have to say the Adventure of the Seas was a wonderful ship with great service, entertainment, and overall a great vacation Read Less

I didn't have a hair dryer in my room and it took 24 hours for one to show up. Luckily I have short hair so it wasn't a major thing for me. The dining staff was great. The menu didn't seem as exciting as my previous cruises but the food was good. The illusionist and his wife were one of the best shows I've seen on a cruise. Enjoyed the Kennedy Space Center tour and CoCo Cay. Not impressed with Nassau. We took the Essential Nassau tour and it was mostly a big sales pitch for different places on the island. We also did the All Access Tour which was interesting. Our tour guide was great. The post cruise tour of Manhattan was OK. Read Less

Our group of fifteen agreed this was the best time to cruise. The service in restaurants and cabin attendance was excellent. Our two waiters were really impressive handling our group of fifteen. 7 nights of 15 people ordering approx. seven dishes each (apps, entrees, desserts) and not one mistake. No trays were used either. These guys worked hard and they were friendly and polite. Our waiter Ida played guitar and sang very well. All food & entertainment was very good. Great to see live musicians all over the ship and playing during shows. I've been on cruises with all pre-recorded music and I did not enjoy it. Comedians were great but shows were limited. Other cruise lines in the past had comedy every night. The day spent at CocoCay was a washout. This should have been the highlight instead it was the lowlight of the cruise. With low tide ALL day, the water was 1-2 feet deep for a very, very long way. BBQ food was great. I understand the weather cannot be controlled BUT around mid-day it rained HARD and there was no escape. Where's the shelter? Everyone including their belongings was soaked. People in wheelchairs, elderly people, etc..all were getting slammed with heavy rain and no where to turn - very surprising. If you had no $30 umbrella, you were out of luck. We made our way to the tender carrying soaked towels & bags and were back on the ship by 1:30pm. For the whole duration of the cruise, there was ONE ice cream machine open from mid-morning until evening. Sometimes it took 20 minutes or more to get an ice cream cone. The second machine worked on the 2nd or 3rd day briefly and then went out of service for the rest of the cruise. I've been on other cruise lines where there were two machines going 24x7. I happen to love ice cream but dreaded to wait on the long line almost every time. Beanbag tournaments were very limited. Only two beanbag appearances in seven days? Sports court was great. Basketball & dodgeball were fun. Gym, sauna & steam room were great. One night during a show in the Lyric Theater, we sat near a blown speaker in the theater and the high volume rattling was driving me crazy. I told the cruise director the next day. Ice Spectacular was great. Skaters & music incl. Beatles were very good. Overall, we had a fun time but there were some minor disappointments along the way.. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it left out of New Jersey and wanted to spend a few nights in New York City before we embarked. Cruise ship was very clean and updated. Staff was fabulous and everyone was extremely friendly. My 8 year old son loved the kids program. The food wasn’t as good as I remembered Royal Caribbean’s in the past cruises. I think a lot of that is geared towards people purchasing the specialty dining. They do charge for room service now and that is a little disappointing. The windjammer had the same stuff almost every night and there didn’t seem to be a huge variety. The entertainment was pretty good, the ice show is a most!!! The singing and dancing shows were mediocre. Overall we had a great time, I would recommend this cruise for families. The staff seemed to be overly helpful and would go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. Read Less

Our third cruise, first with RCCL. Cabin was good, staff wonderful. Food and entertainment were generally great. The perfect day at Coco Cay was not so perfect with a large brawl erupting. As a VIP at several gambling resorts, I was appaulled at the treatment at Casino Royal. You needed a gas mask to get through the stench of cigarette smoke. Bartenders ignored you generally when trying to get a drink. Crap table crew was the worst. I generally wager $400 - $500 a night on craps. After night 2, I never went back. Rude and even nasty table crews. If anyone you know has a gambling problem send them to Casino Royale for a cure. Your time will be better spent at the Imperial Lounge or the Duck and Dog, Jomit is a really great server and all the bar staff rock.I think the "formal night" concept is so yesterday. On formal nights the dining room is half empty. Read Less

Good location of the ship. Great destination. But absolutely not enough time on shore. Very disappointed with that. ABSOLUTELY THE GREATEST PEOPLE WORK THERE. Great shows but the time starts doesn’t work with our dinner reservation. The internet is extremely slow and expensive. Absolutely not enough lounges for all passengers on all decks. And the people reserve their lounges by putting the towel and not showing up. Coffee on board is really bad and not enough seating areas at the Windjammer buffet. Long lines and not enough food stations and the buffet staff start to close buffet early. The opening hours of operation are very short. The elevators take forever. The selection on TV is the worst. Not even one free movie channel. The alcohol drinks are good but expensive. Overall great experience and we have already booked our next cruise with Royal Carribean for next June. Service in the main dining room was exceptional. Dondon and Pravin were A+ for service! Helen cleaned our cabin twice daily and was super friendly! Food was plentiful and good, but not, “oh my god....I have to eat that again!” Guest services lacked when I needed assistance when I was locked out of my cabin. I asked two people and I was ignored. There were many activities for adults, but lacked activities for families to participate in. My boys are 9 and 11. Too big for the adventure program, but not considered adults so they were not allowed to participate. Would have liked more activities for families to enjoy. Flow rider, rock wall, slides, etc. were not available all day. Should have been available continuously so to avoid long lines and feeedom to use when we liked. We did not have the drink package and that was ok with us, but it was slightly odd that the same drink was differently priced and sized from bar to bar? Leaving out of Bayonne, New Jersey was easy and efficient! Only downside is that your limited to how far you can go south. It makes for a long time cruising instead of enjoying ports. Read Less

Overall, this cruise, even being my first, was a great experience. The embarkation and the disembarkation processes are so seamless, fluid, with very little snags, like a well oiled machine. I must say the service from the dining room staff, the stateroom attendants and such, are the most professional and gregarious and social and nice and enthousiastic. Honestly, I want what they are having!!! The stateroom was fine so was the balcony, although it was a bit difficult to handle the doors at times, and the temperature inside was a bit too frisky for my taste. The food quality at the dining room varied depending on the dish. Some were great, like the NY Strip Loin, and the carb cakes, while others fell flat, like the Seafood Pasta (linguine tips stuck together as if not completely cooked and a lack of sauce on the pasta), and the Royal Chocolate Cake (the frosting did not match cake at all) or the crème brûlée (too sweet and a bit too liquid). Yet, the quality was a bit better at Winjammers Buffet and I think it should be open until midnight, since it has better quality food than the Café Promenade which has tasteless salads unfortunately. One little thing. I wish it would be possible to fill up on water anywhere. However, the stop in Florida was useless, on a passenger stand point. In my view, I had been already in Florida before and offering only transport to sites was not something that was to my advantage really. Especially if one was to visit Disney World and have to pay for tickets and come back on time before the ship sailed again. Honestly, everyone knows that it is impossible to visit Disney World in less than 6 hours. Also, financially this does not seem worthwhile at all. We could have went straight to the Bahamas and stayed there longer, for instance, 2 days in Nassau instead of one. Now, Cococay was not a perfect beach. It looked like it was still under construction. The water was full of rocks and palm tree leaves, not clear at all. I don't want to say murky, but contrarily to the beautiful clear waters at Atlantis and Blue Lagoon, I would say dark and full of things, such as other people's gogles, cheerios and a ripped piece of grey fabric which would seem to be dusty if it were not underwater. Though, I must say that the food quality was in keeping with Winjammer level (excellent on average). Also, Royal Carribean needs to make sure that all their third party excursions are handled by a trusted third party with a proven track recorded. I'm mentioning this because I've received word that the tour of Nassau was a disaster, in the sense that they started over an hour late which almost compromised return time before setting sail for NJ. However, for my part, the excursion to VIP Blue Lagoon, was perfect. The water, the service, the whole setup was great, the only inconvenient I can point out was that it should be longer a good 6 hours. One more point should be made about the entertainment. The parties should be longer and there should be at least one more DJ on board. A 45 minutes party immediately followed by another event is not the best way to go, especially if the party vibe just started to pick up. Talking about the 80's Party. After that, the music at the next party (The White Party) started to suck. One DJ is not enough. In conclusion, it was an excellent experience to have and I would recommend taking a cruise with Royal Carribean, if those notes could be corrected. Read Less

The main dining room experience has gone WAY downhill since 2014. This used to be a major RC strength over the other cruise lines. Boring menu, overworked waitstaff, and the desserts are still awful. On the bright side, the Windjammer cafe on this ship does a fantastic job. At Canaveral, we did the airboat ride and Jungle Adventure. The airboat right was great. Water levels were high so we only saw one gator from the boat. They had baby ones you could hold and pose for pictures with. The jungle adventure place had lots of gators and a couple of over-enthusiastic young ladies who showed a variety of critters and fed some gators. The place is a bit worn and housed some animals in sad enclosures - but they also indicated that many of these animals were rescued pets that people would otherwise have abandoned or destroyed. At Coco Cay, we rented a cabana - which is very nice if you have enough people to spread the cost over. We were spared the crowding and had shelter from the sun. They also had a private lunch buffet set up. No good vegetarian entrees for me, but the carnivores in our party loved it. At Nassau, we went to Pearl Island. Everyone loved it and wished we had another hour there. We were annoyed at the amount of time they wasted by telling us to meet outside at x time and then not being ready to leave for another 45 minutes. Read Less

The cruise served as a milestone anniversary trip, so OVERALL, it was a great cruise! Very relaxing, lots of the home stresses were forgotten for a week. The positives of the cruise and ship were the food (we only ate at main DR and Windjammer) was very good (not GREAT, but very adequate for me not cooking or cleaning!). The bars and bar services were great (with the Deluxe Drink package) although I warn to keep an eye on your account as there were MANY drink charges on our account that shouldn't have been there due to the drink package. THE SHIP - still looks to be in good shape although my wife thought it needed updating. Lots of rust on the balconies when you look up...but that's got to be pretty standard for a ship that sails the salty seas, so that didn't bother me too much. I did not like the smoking on the port side, both at the pool and the smell while I was on my port side balcony, so that was a learning lesson for us. The promenade is definitely the highlight of the ship and is very elegant. The selection in the shops was a little lacking IMO. THE CABIN - we had a balcony on the 7th deck, port side. Really, nothing to write about either positive or negative. It was clean, the cabin steward kept it very clean, and it was big enough for the two of us. DINING - We went to early seating dining each night. We didn't get a wait staff that really attempted to connect with us as we've had in the past, but the service was still very good. There were three or four excellent meals and the rest were average, but again, I wasn't cooking or cleaning so I don't get too picky. The best food was the prime rib and lobster. The windjammer is just awesome, always a huge selection of foods, and except for lunch when you first board the ship, there were always tables to eat. Breakfast in the Main DR was good, but we only went once as it was a LONG experience and we didn't want to waste the hour every morning there. ENTERTAINMENT - The ballroom dancers and male comedians were top notch. The female comedian was a little rough. The RCCL Singers and Dancers were average, but they entertained us and that's what we wanted. So overall it was good entertainment. Also, don't miss the ice show, it was fantastic. SERVICE - Excellent. We were well taken care of! SHORE EXCURSIONS - We only did one excursion through RCCL - the Ron Jon Beach Shuttle at Cocoa Beach. The problem we had was that they made us wait in the theater for over an hour until they left us off the ship. then we waited in a long line to exit the cruise terminal. Also, since we were going the shortest distance, we were the first to go into the theater and the last to leave since the Disney/Orlando tours had further to go. My time is just as precious as anyone else's and I felt like I would have been much better off getting my own ride to the beach. CAPE LIBERTY CRUISE TERMINAL - first time driving to a cruise and it was awesome. We drove 3.5 hours to get there, arrived, they took our bags, we parked in the parking garage, and 15 minutes later we were on the ship! Definitely leaving from Cape Liberty again!! Lastly, the only other item RCCL has to figure out is the whole pool chair reserving issue. They have signs up stating that the reserving of chairs is not allowed, yet when you get to the pool at 9 am, there is NO Chair available as there are towels laying on them, but NO PEOPLE....for hours!! Very frustrating. Read Less
