Silver Muse is a lovely and comfortable new ship. Whilst the facilities are superb, the dining arrangements are nothing short of terrible. Most of the dining room have tables that can accommodate from 4 to 8 people but almost all only ever had 2 people (a couple on them). Dining with other guests is a no-no! The menu in any of the restaurants did not change over the 12 nights, there was no specials. Changing or requesting a new venue was almost impossible. IndoChin is a waste of space as the attempt to have several different styles of Asian food in one venue has failed. The concept of having guests meet others seems to have been overlooked. This became the general topic amongst all guests, many of whom had lots of cruising with Silver Sea. The need to cancel a booking before going on a wait list caused guests to have no confirmed booking for dinner. At times when buffet service is in place, the hots food is not hot enough and could result in sickness. As for formal nights, well this is a joke as currently it is only for certain restaurants, not the entire ship. So guest are moving around from formal wear thru to shorts and thongs, all on the same night. Looks messy and does not suit the glamorous style promoted for the ship. Other issues include freezing cold public spaces (many on the ship had come down with coughs and colds during the cruise), inability to hear public announcements in the suites (you needed to be in the hall way), second rate entertainment that was the same group every night, expensive dining in 2 restaurants (US$60 PP). if the dining arrangements are not changed we would not book on this ship again. We are 12 times cruisers, 3 with silversea. We were looking forward to being on a new ship as the last Silversea ship had some problems with leaks into our suite, it was due for refurb. The new dining arrangements on Silver Muse didn't suit us and from speaking with other guests onboard they all agreed. The fact that there was no dining room where you could walk up and ask to be sat at a table of 4 or 6 took a lot of the joy of cruising away. We enjoy talking with other guest from around the world over dinner. I spoke with the ship's hotel manager and he acknowledged they had a problem and were looking at ways to remedy. It is a big problem for him with the ship's design not suitable to have a "main dining room". Other than the dining problem most other aspects of the cruise went well, the staff were efficient and friendly, we enjoyed the trivia, ( where we met other guests), the ports were interesting and the weather was kind to us. We may cruise with Silversea again but NEVER on Silver Muse if the dining arrangements remain the same. Read Less

We've cruised with Silversea for more than 19 years because we loved its style, intimate atmosphere an excellent food and service. Of course some things needed technological adjustments and renovation in suite confort and decoration. Now Silver Muse suits offer world class amenities and decoration. Dining options are more varied. But apparently minor changes, such as the dress code, or the cancellation of the no reservation policy of the main dining room have dramatically changed the ship´s signature style and atmosphere! Now you find in common areas men in black or white tie, along with others with no tie or jacket, ladies in evening dressing gowns, along with others in sport attire, and even some wearing bathrobes on the aisles. You feel over dressed or under dressed, or even ridiculous! Enrichment lectures were one of the things I enjoyed. Learning about the culture and history about the places you were about to visit from renowned specialists. This time we visited sites with a rich past, such as Bergamo, Troy, or Ephesus and the lecturer was speaking about Frank Sinatra! This was absolutely not an enrichment lecture! All the staff were friendly and the food was excellent, although in some restaurants and in the pool service was slow at peak hours. I understand the trend to move to big ships and to different customers responds to economic reasons, but if this is the case, why not sell Silver Muse as a different trade mark? I wish Silversea could keep on renovating its smaller ships, but keep the same refined style and excellent service that have gained it world recognition. Read Less
