Not like the old days

Review for a South America Cruise on Celebrity Eclipse

User Avatar

We elected to purchase this cruise because of the price, and the itinerary (many ports we had not been to before.) We have been on six prior Celebrity cruises and even on this ship. Our overall experience was disappointing. First and foremost, the food in the main dinning room was sub par. The steaks were as thin as a pancake and no matter how discribed on the menu they were the same steak. ...

Cruised Celebrity Eclipse in a Royal Suite Dec 1 – 6 Long Beach / San Pedro to Cabo San Lucas, San Diego and back to Long Beach / San Pedro. This was our 54th cruise on various cruise lines RCCL (34), Princess (10), Celebrity (7), Holland (2), Norwegian (2), and Carnival (1). Our first was 1994 so we’ve seen all the changes and cutbacks, and this review is not about that. We booked this cruise to ...

Enjoyed the cruise - Crew Great - Corporate is diminishing experience

We've sailed the eastern Caribbean many times and wished to experience the Mexican Riviera . Glad we did - these ports are gems. Overall we enjoyed the cruise. Booked and S1 - Sky Suite, deck 12 port aft side. Deck 12 balcony rooms have a "cover" deck from above, so they can remain shaded for periods of the day. If you don't want direct sun - you pick deck 12. Cabin was comfortable, but ...

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Viking Star

I chose this cruise because I wanted to escape from the cold, dreary weather before Christmas. My sister and I took this as a girls trip - we left the husbands and critters at home. The Good: The crew on this sailing were fantastic as were the Officers. Kate Syrett, the cruise director was amazing-though a little bit over the top for my taste. Kate lead exercise classes that were well ...

6 Night Cruise to Cabo/San Diego - Great itinerary, weak entertainment, worse food + Royal Carribean comparison

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Celebrity Eclipse

Booked our cruise for November, to sneak in some couple time before the holidays - its just me and my husband in our late 20s. We chose this cruise as an upgrade from our last Royal Carribean cruise (our first cruise ever!). We even opted for a balcony room vs the interior one we had last time. I want to share some of the highs and lows of our trip, and a reason we're likely not going to take ...

Disappointing

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Celebrity Eclipse

This was by far the worst of the three Celebrity cruises I’ve taken. I’ve been on the Solstice and Beyond prior to this and while I know Beyond is in a class of its own, the Eclipse is a Solstice Class ship and definitely no where nearly as good. Service is lacking from the crew, the ship is in need of repair in many places and the rooms are outdated. The windows weren’t cleaned for any of the ...

Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Sapphire Princess

Too few waiters, too much cost cutting, penny pinching everywhere, but staff great and ship in good condition. Food nowhere need as good as it used to be and repeated items on each evenings menus. Some of the things that used to be included, such as lobster, now are charged extra, although we did get a small portion as part of the main meal on one evening.Limited options in Horizon dining room. ...

First the pros of this cruise and the Sapphire Princess ship, and there were several areas that were excellent: 1. Medallion service/functionality is great. Making it very easy to order food and drinks pretty much anywhere on the ship. Embarkation was simple/easy. The medallion appears to be the only new thing that Princess has done since we sailed last with them in 2016. 2. The ...

Highly uneven experience

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Celebrity Eclipse

I had never sailed on Celebrity. 4 previous on Norwegian. That was my comparison and Eclipse was a bit of a disappointment with a 5.5 rating on Vacations to Go. Pros: the crew tried very hard and were friendly and courteous always. Not sure how happy or cohesive they were. Felt fairly new. Stateroom was well maintained and clean. Ship interior is quite beautiful with glass elevators ...

My wife and I were on an Oceania Insignia Mediterranean cruise years ago. The food and overall experience was amazing!!! We have done Regent and RC cruises, but have been mainly using Holland America for cruises (love the Pinnacle class ships!) We wanted to do another Oceania cruise... mainly for the food. We were on The Regatta for the September 27 through October 4 cruise "California ...
