We chose Viking for this cruise because it was the best way to eliminate surprises. They set the bar for smaller ship cruising. This was our first cruise in one of their bigger ships and it was perfect. Not too big to get lost in it but big enough to have all you could want. We chose the Classic Panama Canal Passage cruise because we wanted to get the full experience of this engineering marvel. ...
Wanted to go to Panama and see the Panama Canal. My husband and I had never been on a cruise but we heard great things about Viking cruises. Viking caters to the more mature crowd with no children allowed, no casinos, no glitzy shows. What they do offer are balconies with every stateroom, included excursion at each port, several specialty restaurants, delicious food at all the restaurants and ...
Seeing the Panama Canal and learning the history and politics of the construction of it has been an interest for many years. Simple fact, It is amazing that the original lock gates are still in use today. I much prefer the tours and on shore excursions to casinos and “all you can eat” buffets. Viking guides are knowledgeable and eager to share insights to their cities, historic landmarks and their ...
Overall this was a very good cruise. However, since this was our first Viking Ocean cruise, I had higher expectations. The best part was the crew - they were fantastic. The ship was beautiful and our cabin (we stayed in category DV6, deck 3) was spacious enough and clean (could have used a little more drawer space - had to live out of suitcase for some items). The bathroom was also very ...
We chose Viking as our first ocean cruise after Covid because 1.) their Health & Safety Program, provides the best protection to avoid transmission of covid, 2.) Ease of Embarkation/Disembarkation, Historian, and Cultural Programs, and 3.) Dining & Entertainment. Onboard, physical distancing & optional facemask are recommended. All employees, wear masks and surfaces on the ship are cleaned and ...
We chose this trip as a replacement for a Viking river trip through Russia that was cancelled. We were extremely pleased with the quality of the facilities and the amazing service. The variety and quality of the food was outstanding. The excursions were very educational and interesting. We met some friends who we hope will become lifetime friends. All-in-all we were well satisfied with our trip ...
My husband and I have wanted to go thru the Panama Canal for quite a few years now. This cruise happened to sail during our 45th Anniversary, so we jumped on it. From the moment we entered the ship until we left, we felt "special"(and it had nothing to do with what we were celebrating as they didn't know). The entire crew was always warm, smiling and helpful.
The towns/countries we visited ...
Our 51st Anniversary cruise to Panama Canal on Viking Star was the least enjoyable, most frustrating and overpriced, caused ill effects on my health and was far short of the luxury we were led to expect of any cruise line we’ve experienced in 50 years of cruising. Too many sales staff, Customer Rep’s, ship's personnel and ship's management were negligent regarding Viking regulations and what ...
We appreciate you sharing your experience, RebekaJean, although we regret to hear of the events you've described here. We’ve taken note of your feedback and while we understand you have...
My overall rating as a 4 has mostly to do with the excursions. This trip was a typical 5 Star Viking voyage and through no fault of Viking this area just doesn't have the most exciting excursions. The Panama Canal was the highlight. Viking is still watching out for everyones safety as all the crew were masked all of the time. Our cabin attendants would have our room ready by the time we came back ...
We are not new to Viking. When we found this itinerary(Ft. Lauderdale to Panama City) and the fact that the next cruise was the same, in reverse, we immediately booked this back-to-back itinerary. Given that we were on this spectacular ship for twenty-one days, we had the chance to fully appreciate all aspects of our ship. By the way the ship was carrying about 750 passengers out of the 930 ...
