Seeing the Panama Canal and learning the history and politics of the construction of it has been an interest for many years. Simple fact, It is amazing that the original lock gates are still in use today. I much prefer the tours and on shore excursions to casinos and “all you can eat” buffets. Viking guides are knowledgeable and eager to share insights to their cities, historic landmarks and their countries. Beautiful! Viking Star crew were friendly, fun, personable and polite. The restaurants offered more than ample choices and portions. The wait staff in the restaurants always knew us by name and were able to accommodate our preferences and seating most of the time. We enjoy meeting new friends and like minded travelers. Our cabin staff were equally accommodating and took very good care of the cleanliness of our cabin and addressed any of our special requests. The onboard entertainment and lectures were very good and the number of venues and times kept us occupied. Besides relaxing poolside, the Star had some very relaxing corners and seating areas outside of one’s cabin. Looking forward to planning another Viking Cruise.
