This was our first Silversea cruise and 19th cruise overall. We sailed on 10 different lines, including Crystal, Oceania, Azamara and more.
Overall, it was a great cruise, but I must say I expected more from a "6 star line with intuitive service". The service was good to very good overall, but we didn't feel that they "learn our preference and anticipate our needs".
Embarkation: very smooth ...
Overall Silversea remains a top quality luxury cruise product. Unfortunately, embarkation for this cruise was the most unprofessional fiasco EVER experienced with "any" cruise. Shipboard systems apparently malfunctioned, so it created a problem in the usual boarding procedures. Hiccups can happen with all companies, but it is "how" the crew responds to such problems that underscores the difference ...
We chose this cruise purely for the itinerary and the dates. Seabourn was not available for what we needed.
At first we thought we were impressed with the food, but the longer we travelled, we discovered that the menus in the speciality restaurants were disappointing. The Japanese and French themed one (the latter costing $120 per couple extra) were neither Japanese nor French in culture, nor ...
We usually travel on Celebrity's new ships, most recently enjoying the retreat, so we can't compare SS to other luxury lines. The food was excellent - but you need to make reservations in advance to get the times/venue you prefer. Service was excellent. Compared to Celebrity retreat, SS food and service were much better (to us). Many restaurant choices and always someone asking us if we need ...
Originally, we were booked on a Holland America Line (HAL) Alaska cruise with a Denali land extension. We have sailed HAL twice and enjoyed them. We have sailed Oceania many times also. But, when I spotted a Travelzoo deal for the same itinerary on Silversea Silver Shadow, we rebooked. Basically paid the same price as HAL but had the benefit of Silversea figuring out the air, transfers, all ...
This was our first cruise with Silversea but eleventh cruise on our 7th different cruise line. Silversea is marketed as luxury 6 Star cruising and this was our first "luxury Cruse." First impressions excellent we did door to door was collected from home, transfer to airport, transfer from airport to hotel and transfer from hotel to cruise port and check in all went seamlessly. The Silver Sprit is ...
I chose this cruise because the 7 day itinerary fitted in with a trip to Vancouver, Alaska and Seattle of nearly 4 weeks. And it went to 4 ports, whereas the premium lines only went to 3 ports in 7 days. And it had a lot fewer people, which is a great bonus. We booked in 2018 for 2020 (postponed to 2022) so we paid probably half of what it would have cost this year.
This was our first ocean ...
Our tenth cruise on Silversea and first since COVID was overall a very good experience.
Embarkation was outside on a very windy ground level pier. First your COVID test results are checked, then a form to fill out, hopefully without it blowing away, then a quick check by the ship's doctor of vaccination cards, then actual check in to exchange passports for keys. Somehow in all this they ...
Silver moon is brand new and very well designed. A rather bulky exterior makes for a very appealing and spaceous interior for the 600 guests. The standard cabin is large and held in light grey and beige nuances. Large and well appointed bathroom. Walk-in closet. Nice balcony. The public spaces, lounges and venues are varied, plenty and with a light, modern design. Super ambiance. The service is ...
We picked this Alaska cruise for timing and length with our work schedules. This was my first time in Alaska and my partner's second. Alaska was amazing, the weather was perfect, the scenery amazing, people genuine. The cruise was overall was not five star. We had sailed with Silversea prior to Covid and I'm sure this had a lot to do with expectation versus reality. The pre Covid sailing with ...
