I chose this cruise because the 7 day itinerary fitted in with a trip to Vancouver, Alaska and Seattle of nearly 4 weeks. And it went to 4 ports, whereas the premium lines only went to 3 ports in 7 days. And it had a lot fewer people, which is a great bonus. We booked in 2018 for 2020 (postponed to 2022) so we paid probably half of what it would have cost this year.

This was our first ocean cruise, so I have nothing to compare it with, and personally disagree with reviews below, which disparage the food - see later. But is it really an ultra-luxury line? To me that just means that other lines are more scruffy / have more queueing, so does put me off them?

Embarkation in Vancouver was terrible - 1.5 hours of standing in queues. It was like the stations of the cross. At the 1st station they gave you a pointless form to fill in, which says "I do not have COVID and do not want to be put in a horrible room in a horrible COVID quarantine hotel with Novak Djokovic" - unless you particularly like Novak Djokovic! At the 2nd station they take this back from you! At the 3rd station they give a cursory glance to the Negative Rapid Test Result it took you effort and lots of money to buy, and never needed again. At the 4th station they insist that you put your passport into rubbish machines and take ages entering data, only for them to spit you out and you have to join another queue to get your passport checked by a person. Etc Etc.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Verandah Suite

I liked the cabin very much. It was very smart with lots of storage space and lots of clothes hangers, hooray! It came in theory with a butler but he was conspicuous by his absence - probably having far too many cabins to deal with.
