Dining service has slipped, evening entertainment in lounge is not very entertaining for a late night crowd. Butler service, Rommel and his assistant Vipen, were exceptional. No binoculars in room and no lectures on board ship prior to ports. Also not much communication regarding visa help for next cruise to Oman. I personally asked the chief accountant to keep me updated with what became a difficult process. He NEVER communicated until the visa was completed. The ship IT guy tried to help me switch the online application but he could not figure out how to shrink my passport photo tonfit the application. They got it done but it was very stressful and it took four working days after they told me it was usually done in one to three. Would not have been an issue if the. Communication would have been there. Great restaurants to select from and food was very good. Read Less

We were interested in visiting the ancient ruins in Athens, Petra, and Luxor. The Silversea pre and post cruise Hotels were were excellent. We enjoyed the Muse. There were things we really liked and a couple of things that need attention. We liked the room design. We did not like the black oily soot that came out of the smokestacks and covered the deck and furniture on the back outdoor seating. Soiled lots of cloths before we discovered it. I thought it strange that when my wife and I arrived to eat at the Indochine restaurant I was asked to go get a jacket before I could enter, I went back to room and returned to enter when I noticed eight men in the restaurant who hung their jackets on the chair and were wearing bluejeans and sneakers. Jason told me I only need the jacket to enter but then I could remove it. Quite a poor policy and not consistently applied. Read Less

We chose this cruise because the ship was small, only 380 passengers and we wanted to cruise the Greek Islands which limited our choice of ships. Embarkation and disembarkation were the fastest I have ever experienced on a ship, no waiting in line. The food, service, entertainment were great. I am not a buffet person and loved that I had options of a la carte or buffet for breakfast and lunch. Our cabin was the largest cabin I have experienced on a ship. The service was over the top. Great crew. Very roomy and big bathroom. It was a Verandah suite which was the least expensive suite with a balcony you could purchase. My only complaint is the ship is old and dated looking. There are no electrical outlets by the nightstands, you have to plug your phone or I-pad in across the room which is not fun at 6 a.m. when the alarm goes off and you have to run across the run to shut it off. Our shore excursions were nice. Some of them a little longer than they needed to be. I felt the tour guide was taking longer than they needed because the tour was 4 hours and they felt they had to give us 4 hours of talking. The private tour guide through the ship was very expensive. We were able to find a private tour guide in Santorini for 75% cheaper than what the ship wanted to charge. Overall, we loved it and would travel on Silversea again but will look for a ship that is newer. Read Less

I've done silver seas cruise before and had a really good experience. The ports of calls are spectacular. We had to divert from Santorini which was the most anticipated port for us. This was a bummer but the captain decided to re-route to a different port and substitute rather than spend another day at sea. We ended up going to Corfu which was such a great experience and so beautiful. This was really nice. So everything worked out well and we still saw a lovely place. The staff were all so friendly and helpful with such amazing attitudes. They made it a point to remember us by name and great us like they knew us already--impressive. The cruise director was great. We loved the idea of being in a different port every day. Cruising over night and arriving the next morning. The schedule was great. I only have one query as I booked a private gondola ride in Venice. I got a call from the activities director I guess early that day saying that they had booked us on a shared ride 4 guests. He proceeded to tell me that it's the same as a private ride and really no big difference blah blah. So I went with it. At the activity we were with another 8 individuals. we ended up two boats of four and one couple had a private gondola ride with music serenade. We were sitting with the other couple staring at them the whole time and really being forced to have conversation...... This couple was also dealt the same hand and were not too happy about sharing a gondola. If I booked a private tour obviously I wanted this experience to be very special with just my wife on her first trip to Venice. That took away from that. We still enjoyed it but the intimacy was taken away from us. Read Less

I choose this cruise because of the itinerary. Friends also wanted to go and had used Silversea before. The service and food were outstanding. Our cabin was roomy and the closet was huge! Quite a nice surprise. I felt the rom and ship could have been more updated. The ship did not pop with color. Very muted in beige and rusts. Just my opinion. The only negatives: the tours start very early. Again, my choice to go on them and due to a different port each day, we wanted to go on them. We were so happy to have one start at 9 am instead of 8 am. The music/dance started very late for us(11pm). We were happy to attend a 10pm Kereokee night. The greatest negative was the WiFi rarely worked. It was horrible. Very intermittent and not reliable. Since that was my means of communication with husband and family, I found this to be very aggravating. It bought the review of this cruise line down a big notch. Read Less

We liked the itinerary. We liked that the ship was new.The breakfasts were good but with no "assigned" waiters it was chaotic on sea days. Lunches--were excellent. Dinners were "OK". We ate dinner at 2 restaurants that didn't require reservations but like La Terrazza (Italian) best although pitifully refrigerated. The decor as just "OK"--you can't please everyone's personal taste. We used your hand sanitizers each time--but sadly my husband caught a cold anyway from someone--and I caught it from him..a few days after disembarking.Ultimately it had bad consequences for our return trip which was delayed 10 hours--then an 11 hr fight etc..(Sadly I ended up in the ER upon returning--and had to cancel many plans)."Bad luck". Anita was very helpful with disembarking...because there are ridiculously limited with cabs. Our favorite guide was in Rhodes-- excellent--but we were caught in a bad downpour (the guide said rain was forcasted)! We were given clear rain ponchos--but umbrellas would've been better. We bought one eventually. My favorite day was in Capri but way too short as we discovered the last boats leaving were already booked! The room was well thought out and felt actually "roomy". Our butler was very nice and attentive. But again your air-conditioning was a problem in the room (didn't go above a certain temp to warm it) and especially after escaping from the chilly hallways . We found the restaurants to be pretty good. Not a very good experience at Le Champagne. Several of the dishes had been sitting for awhile with mushroom soup being lumpy. We had to stir the soup to eat it. It should be better. Great wine selection and nice size Foie Gras. We found the Italian restaurant and the main dining room to our liking. We had two reservations in both Le Champagne and the Japanese. Cancelled the second reservation in both. If we had to pick a weak spot for the overall experience, it would be the staff. Slow food service at the pool. Our room was not clean when we checked in. Trash under the bed with dust bunnies, sticky residue on counter top and on our phone. After that was addressed we had no problems, room was kept clean. Our butler was very nice, but it took two days before our bar was stocked. Our travel partners across the hallway got their bar stocked on day one. The reception was unable to answer simple questions regarding disembarkation. We got off the ship in Venice, at a dock far away from the main port terminal. Reception had no idea how to arrange private taxi transfer to our hotel. We had not purchased transfer thru SilverSea what we felt was completely overpriced private boat taxi to our hotel. The fact that the reception did not know the process is unacceptable. It turned out to be very simple. Just pick up your bags and walk 100 yards to the Taxi dispatcher! We had prepaid for the transfer directly with Venicelink and had to wait about 30min for the boat. No big deal. Spa was nice, but again very expensive. Workout facilities, about the size of a tiny hotel room, basic. Found it annoying that all of the pools and every hot tub on the ship where drained and closed the morning before we got off the boat. None of the people we talked to had heard of this being scheduled. Pools and hot tubs are a major part of the facilities on a ship and loosing all of them for 1 of 7 days we felt ripped off. We had very low expectations of the on board entertainment and after attending one event that was confirmed. No big deal. Did not partake in any of the shore excursions as we booked our own for 1/2 the price on-line. Used tenders to reach two of the ports, very well run, never waited at all. Well done! Buffet for both breakfast and lunch where outstanding. Decent wines served everywhere. Security on board and at shore was good. We felt safe and secure. Read Less

Cruise line. We have sailed with Silversea 5 times. This last cruise service and food has gone down hill. The buffet breakfast service was poor. The Grill food was poor. The Le Champagne restaurant was excellent as well as the Italian restaurant for dinner. The highlight of the service was the room butler. He was very attentive and efficient with a good personality. The onboard entertainment was extremely poor. The cruise director served as the main entertainment ( kind of mom and pop) and the rest of the entertainers were poor. The room was well kept and serviced and modern and clean. The ship is well kept and clean. The exercise facility is small and limited. Spa facilities are over the top expensive. The ports of call were ok. Kudusadasi was the best port of call. Mikanos was a bit of a disappointment. The downtown area is nice but that's all. Read Less

The ship is new & beautiful, & the staterooms are terrific. All the ports of call were excellent, & the people working on the ship were great. The shore excursions that we took were, for the most part, excellent. We especially liked the Opera nights, & we really enjoyed the late night dancing up in the Panorama lounge. The decision to spread the dining between multiple restaurants was effective in making the ship appear less large, but it also was a barrier to meeting people & forming new friendships. The reservation system was confusing & cumbersome, as was having different dress codes for each place. The exercise facility is entirely too small & has average equipment. The need to pre-order certain types of alcoholic beverages before starting the cruise or not to have them be available is also not well done. We were not used to a high-end hospitality business telling us that they could not get us what we wanted. We loved many aspects of the cruise, but we would not sail on this ship again. Read Less

Embarkation from the port in Athens was remarkably smooth and fast. We were among the very first passengers there which probably helped. We went to the pool deck for lunch and it wasn't too long before we were allowed to go to our suite. Luggage took a little while to arrive, but not an unacceptable amount of time. The ship is pristine. Our silver suite on deck 10 was extremely comfortable. A very pleasant sitting room with balcony, bedroom with comfortable bed & beautiful bed linen. A very spacious walk in robe with ample hanging space and hangers plus cupboard space. We had a lot of luggage and were able to unpack and put away everything. The bathroom is beautiful. A seperate toilet, huge shower and spa bath and double sinks in a well equipped vanity. Our butler and cleaner were both lovely people and extremely helpful. I have read a lot of criticism about the lack of a communal dining room on the Muse and also difficulty getting into the restaurants. I can't agree. It was my first cruise so I have no experience of the communal dining room. We only pre booked a restaurant for the first night. After that we would speak to our butler each morning and tell him which restaurant we would like for that evening, it was never a problem. We did dine ashore on a couple of occasions. The service in all the restaurants we tried was excellent and the food very good. The only problem I had was at breakfast in La Terraza where the service was sometimes a bit distracted and haphazard. We spent a lot of time on the pool deck as the weather during our cruise was extremely hot. The pool is beautiful and filled with salt water so there isn't that awful chlorine smell. The service around the pool was excellent and it was great to be able to simply move from your lounge bed to a table for lunch. We didn't take part in any shore excursions. They all started early in the morning and we are not early morning people. We would go ashore when it suited us and either wander around or get a taxi to a specific location. For example on Santorini, I chose a beach which was about 20 minutes in a taxi from the port. It was great, well equipped with waiters providing drinks and food & it was lovely to be able to swim in the Med and we simply told the taxi driver when to return to pick us up & he was there right on time. We did a similar thing when we got to Taormina. We did go to the casino, which is very small but perfectly adequate, but not to any of the after dinner entertainment, it simply didn't appeal to us. I did use the Spa for a facial, massage and manicure. The facial was very disappointing with half hour taken trying to convince me (unsucessfully) to have some extremely expensive anti aging treatments. The massage was excellent, although at the end I was talked into buying several hundred dollars worth of product I really didn't want. I was so relaxed after the massage she could have sold me a house. The manicure was perfectly adequate although expensive compared to what I get in Sydney. Disembarking in Rome was again easy although I must admit I didn't expect to have to leave quite so early (cabin vacated by 8.30am) and having your luggage picked up the night before is a nuisance as all the toiletries you need for the morning plus your nightwear then have to be carried with you. Would I go on the Muse again? Definitely if the itinerary was different. I didn't like the concept of a different port each day. There really is no time for anything but a very superficial look at each destination. If there were fewer ports but several days in each one I would happily travel on this ship again. Read Less

We started out with a horrible pre-cruise experience. We booked directly with Silversea's "Cruise Specialist" and after submitting our passport information, including expiration dates, and having it accepted by Silversea, we received all documents and got to the airport, where they refused my husband boarding because his passport expired in two months. We had to spend 2 nights in Philadelphia waiting for the passport office to open before we could get on the plane and received no call backs or help whatsoever from Silversea, even though we followed their emergency directions. It is in the fine print that a passport should be valid for 6 months after return, but my husband had just returned from Asia, who has the same caveats, with no problem. So, we missed the first two nights of our vacation in Greece & got to spend them stressed out in Philadelphia with no baggage, as it had gone on to Athens, and no assistance form Silversea, instead. Not a great way to start a vacation. Upon arrival in Athens - Car & driver waiting with car that was too small, but still a good transfer to Piraeus. Boarded the ship - it's pretty, but bland - not very warm and I'm not a big fan of the art, as I am of the Silver Spirit's or the ships. Ugly carpet through. Cabins are beautiful, with one exception - there is no longer a vanity, so make-up, etc. has to be done in the bathroom, which is annoying. Staff were absolutely wonderful - We were diverted from Dikilii to Izmir, which was an awful port. Kusadasi is always nice, but Marmaris so so, Santorini has gotten so overcrowded it's sad, Patmos was wonderful, Kotor fabulous as always, Dubrovnik always great, Hvar was probably our favorite, Koper has a cute little old town, but we grabbed a taxi to Piran, a seaside resort, which was beautiful. Breakfast always good in LA Terrazza. Had it one morning in Atlantide & it took 2 hours, so we gave up & stuck with La Terrraza. Rarely had lunch on board, but the Grill was ok, not great. La Terrazza dinners were good; Silver Note really not great food - too much going on, although the entertainment was fabulous; Kaiseiki was fun and worth the uncharge; La Dame was a let-down after many great Le Champagne meals - undercooked lobster, but good service; Indochine was awful - dried out dim sum, chicken coconut soup that didn't take or look like any I'd every seen before, naan looked & tasted like burnt tortilla slices, just not good; Hot Rocks always good; Atlantide I enjoyed, but husbands fish was not good - excellent service though. Pizzeria ok. Wish they could get fresh fish on board, as the frozen is always disappointing. Missed not having afternoon teas and the Arts Cafe' was a cold souless room and not a great substitute. Our biggest complaint was no main dining room - is it a pain and very stressful to have to make reservations every night. We missed being able to go into the Main Dining Room at any time with any size group and have a broad selection of food choices, all served beautifully & that is probably the reason I won't steer towards the Silver Muse again. Dining was a pain and the food wasn't all that great. The pool area is fantastic - loved the new L-shaped sofas for those of us that don't want too much sun. Only had one massage from Adena, but it was probably one of the best I've ever had - she was wonderful!! Work-out facilities nice. Reception, main lobby and bar are huge and no one ever in them - I would suggest using 2/3s of this as a main dining room. We had a wonderful cruise once we finally got there, but don't think we will choose the Silver Muse or book directly with Silversea ever again. Read Less

Overall the cruise was extremely pleasing and we enjoyed it very much. The cabin was very well appointed and comfortable, the shower would be better if it was larger, we find no need for the bathtub. Dining experience not good, having to make restaurant reservations months before departure with little knowledge of the setting is not effective and leaves no room for flexibility of choices. Meeting new friends and desiring to dine together not possible. Menus in all venues redundant, no changes or options. Gilbert handled complaints very professionally. Destination lectures should be provided, it would be tour enhancing if before tour talks were provided. The 5th floor Lounge should be made more welcoming and cozy and possibly used as a meeting location of those passengers wanting social time before dinner as well as a venue to talk about the days tours and the next days venue. Shows were not up to our expectations, some performers were good, some just okay. Arrangements were dull, repetitious, and not professional. The ship and crew could not have been more accommodating and pleasant. Most of the shore excursions were good, the lunches were to long and felt time filling, more information and less food would be more to the reason for the learning experience. Read Less

Have sailed with Silverseas before and liked it. However, the experiments on Muse were a failure in my opinion. No open dining! Well, we made reservations for several nights. The problem was we met some great people and the 8 of us wanted to have dinner together. They made that almost impossible so we ended up dining off the ship in the evenings when we were in port until 10. There were a lot of complaints about this and I hope they decide to allow at least one restaurant to remain open dining. If not, we won't sail on this ship again and if they put this into place on all their ships, I'll be looking for a new cruise line. ALSO...no coffee or tea available until 6:30 am. One of my favorite times of day on a cruise is early morning (5-6). Grab a cup of coffee or tea and watch the sunrise over the horizon. Well, unless you wanted to order room service and wait 1/2 an hour or pre-order the night before (and that would be the morning you actually managed to sleep in) there was nothing available until 6:30 am. You don't need a barista; you simply need coffee and hot water and fixings to make a cup to roam around. Read Less
