Review for a Hawaii Cruise on Emerald Princess

We chose this cruise because we had cruised Princess before and enjoyed it. We prefer longer cruises- 15 or more days or back-to-back. This was 15 day round trip LA to Hawaii to LA. The Emerald needs spruced up- a bit shabby. The entertainment was hit or miss. We liked about half of the entertainment. It was rough weather in December- cool and windy. Some nights it was cold- of course not ...

Our fourth journey to the islands from Los Angeles. No big issues, just fun, relaxation, and good food. Worth the trip. We have never been on the Emerald Princess, same configuration as the Ruby. So it’s nice to know desk layouts in advance, I heard folks complain about the ships condition, worn out, rusting, the general garbage folks like to dump. I’m a long time cruiser. I really ...

Suite experience, not worth it.

Chose this cruise due to great experience on the Ruby. Emerald needs a major suite overhaul, best thing about the cruise was staff, not food, not decor, not amenities, not entertainment, not services available! The food in dining room was excellent at first, then got poor as the cruise progressed. The room service was great with 2 of the delivery stewards, but one put zero effort into it and just ...

First and (maybe last) Cruise with PC

My wife and I chose this cruise line after sailing with Carnival the past five years. The Emerald Princess is a decent ship, however, she is starting to show her age. First things first. Be aware that this Cruise has guests that are averaging late 60s to late 70s in age. Therefore, you will see quite a few scooters, wheelchairs, and walkers. One thing that I will say as a positive with ...

Fun Time on Hawaiian Cruise

Great food, excellent service and entertainment. Waiters great. Cruise Director Kaylee could have been better, not one of the better cruise directors on all the cruise I have been on. She was actually quite boring when trying to entertain over 3000 passengers. Enjoyed sailing to Hawaii. Lots of sea days provides rest and relaxation. Older passengers on ship. Everything shuts down by 10:00 pm ...

We chose this cruise because of the Places it was stopping at. Love all the excursions we went on and they were all booked through Princess. The only suggestion I would have is to have more slot machines in the non smoking casino. Specialty dining at the Crown Grill was excellent. The rib eye steak was so good and cooked perfectly. The waiters were extremely helpful and efficient. The employees ...

Fun Hawaii Cruise

We wanted to cruise out of a different port, so we chose San Francisco. We enjoyed the entire cruise, including multiple sea days in a row (very restful), shore excursions with a lot of adventure, and a debarkation tour of San Francisco that allowed us to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. We took shore excursions in all 4 ports in Hawaii. The zip lines in Kauai were fun and on the snorkel ...

Lots of sea time, but not bad.

Sailed out of San Francisco with a couple of rough days at sea (thank you cruisecritic reviewers for the fair warning) during the first couple of days. Weather changed from chilly to nice and warm when the seas calmed. The four sea days going over seemed long, but then a different port each day seemed pretty hectic. Thanks to Princess' miscommunications about their excursions not being ...

Horrible

Embarkation and disembarking were the best I've experienced! The cruise was the absolute worst! The crew for the most part were very rude. Our cabin steward would not fill up our ice and did a horrible job at cleaning the cabin. The casino was always packed and impossible to find a machine to play. The grand princess is very dated. We noticed numerous water leake, they put buckets in the halls. ...

We chose this cruise because our friends asked us to join them to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. We have cruised from California to Hawaii twice before. So, we expected the cold weather for the crossings but we had never experienced such rough seas both going and coming back. We are seasoned cruisers and have never been seasick. However, my husband was sea sick twice. The ship is in ...
