Disappointment over the tipping system

Review for Sapphire Princess to Hawaii

Overall we were very happy with the cruise, although we felt it was a bit of a mis-sale as February is classed as winter in L.A. and Hawaii. Therefore the weather was only moderately good. It was low 60s F in L.A. when we arrived, and about the same when we returned. The ship set sail and the first 2 days were overcast, rainy and windy. It then got a bit better, with outbreaks of sun, but still ...

We used Princess transfers from the airport for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. They were easy to locate and other than waiting for the bus to fill up as others took longer to get their luggage, we were under way within about 45 minutes to an hour. Once there, embarkation was a breeze, there may have been 10 people in line ahead of us. The room itself was great, it was a minisuite on ...

Good Cruise; Frustrating Embarkation

Our family of seven was on the round trip 15 day Hawaii cruise from Los Angeles. Embarkation was pretty much a nightmare at the San Pedro Pier. We flew in the night before to allow enough time for mishaps. No problem with flights. The problems arose at the embarkation point when we were told there were no wheelchairs available because of the elevator being broken. We had pre-ordered wheelchairs ...

My sister and I booked the Hawaii cruise to enjoy a lot of sea days. This was my second sailing to Hawaii and my sister’s fourth. it was also my 10th Princess sailing and my sister’s 20th. We booked a mini-suite because of the extra space and a balcony. Five days before the cruise we received a phone call from our travel agent. Princess was offering an upgrade to a full suite for a discounted ...

With Princess, we always say, you know what you're getting. In fact, we get some surprises too, despite the fact that we've cruised with this line often enough to qualify for Elite-level benefits. This time, a simple winter-break trip for us, we noted some improvements and a number of less pleasant changes. In the former category, the cruise director and most of his staff were the best we've ...

When is a suite not a suite.

This cruise was not what I expected. First of all we had booked a mini suite because of the amount of sea days, so thought we would pay the extra, but really it was just an extra sofa, and because of that they call it a suite. We are then charged the extra for gratuities for a suite (only a small amount), I might add, but we were informed we could have breakfast in Sabatinis, if we wished, but we ...

Mom and I have now been on our second cruise with Princess, the first being the Caribbeans and this one to Hawaii March 9 thru' the 23rd. It was a wonderful experience in every way. First of all the crew made sure we were comfortable and satisfied. We were, no question. The food was deliscious daily and I ate to my hearts content as I had planned to do. The entertainment was great especially ...

I had high hopes for the Princess cruise since my wife had sailed on them 10 years ago to Alaska and said they were good. We normally sail on Holland America and Royal Caribbean. The cruise started well since we reported late to embarkation and had no troubles getting on. We also liked the Princess life boat drill since we met in the theatre and didn't have to stand under each life boat and be ...

Enjoyed our first trip to Hawaii

This was our first time to Hawaii and also, was the biggest cruise ship we have thus far traveled on. The ship is beautifully outfitted and while the cruise was sold out, one never felt crowded by the other 2,700 passengers - everyone seemed to find their own favourite areas. The outside areas were rarely crowded although this could have been due to the rather cool weather we encountered on our ...
