The cruise was going fine and we were celebrating my husbands 70th birthday. It all turned very sour when we both contracted Covid. I tested positive first and my husband 3 days later. It then became a very distressing experience. I was escorted to my isolation cabin, passing several other guests along the way. I was initially placed in an Ocean View cabin but eventually moved to a cabin with a ...
In May we boarded the Queen Elizabeth for a cruise from Fort Lauderdale to San Francisco. Only after we embarked did we discover that there were active cases of Covid on board. Mask wearing was poor, social distancing weak and, worst of all there was no control of passenger and crew freely exploring each port of call. In sharp contrast to a cruise, on the same ship, which we took in October 2021 ...
This cruise met our time and destination requirements. The Island Princess is just the right size to go thru the old locks of the Panama Canal. Having sailed on this ship in the past we knew it was one of the best in the Princess fleet.
The people we met on the ship were wonderful. The Crooners bar was the prime meeting place on the ship for a great many people. We certainly looked forward ...
I know many people don't understand the seriousness of food related illnesses and allergies.
When I alter a dish or ask for the special menu I expect an eyeroll and an "in my day..." comment from those around me. What I don't expect is to be treated like the staff is feeding scaps to a bilge rat.
I was fed succotash with asian sweet & sour sauce, a raw onion taco, cold crunchy red ...
We had very good experience on another Princess cruise, and wanted to take one through the Panama Canal. This one proved to be just as good. Food, stateroom, entertainment, and service were of high quality. As expected. We enjoyed the luxury and attention to detail. Communication was efficient.
There were some glitches with their MedallionClass app, which were handled by the staff as best they ...
I have looked forward to doing a full transit in the OLD locks - and finally did it! But that takes time (15 days) and a smaller ship (Island or Coral on Princess). There were some stumbles on board because she spent over 700 days out of service - and had only been in service for 15 days when we boarded. Some A/C issues were still being addressed. The crew worked feverishly to make everything ...
We chose this cruise as we wanted to do a full transit of the Panama Canal. And this cruise totally delivered on that. We experienced going through the canal from the Miraflores, the Pedro Miguel, and then the Gatun locks. We received a lot of really good history and information on the region, and got to see the locks in action.
As an added bonus, the food aboard was excellent. Hence we ...
We chose this cruise because although we had sailed QM2 several times Transatlantic, we had never been on the QE. The dates fit our schedule—sail the QM2 over to Southampton, a week in England and sail the QE back Southampton to Fort Lauderdale. Our leg was the beginning of the QE’s longer leg, she will be sailing over a month, all the way to Alaska. My observations:
Embarkation in Southampton ...
Recently my wife and I took a 28-day cruise from Southampton to San Francisco. Covid-19 dogged the entire 9,615 nautical miles of the voyage.
Our troubles began even before we boarded Queen Elizabeth. Cunard demanded a certified negative antigen test dated no more than 24 hours before boarding. That meant finding a provider open on a Sunday – which we did eventually at a cost of £70. Not once ...
We returned home yesterday from QE voyage Southampton to San Francisco and had a wonderful time aboard.
On arriving in Southampton at 12.15 as requested we were surprised by the number of passengers waiting for Covid testing. Obvious the stated time was not adhered to. However we were onboard and having lunch in the restaurant by 1.45pm.
We were in Grills and had a lovely suite, plenty of ...
