Just back from a 2 way transatlantic voyage on QM2. We had been upgraded from deck 5 with a sheltered balcony to deck 11 with a full balcony, which was nice, but unfortunately with inclement weather we got little use. The weather on the way to New York was fine but cold and very windy and on the return was stormy for most of the way till our last day sailing.
I enjoyed our cruise, however it ...
Having very little knowledge of the South and never having been on a river cruise, I fell for the slick promos American Cruise lines produced, where. Five star cruise was promised . Ha!
The suite was nice (new ship) but the food was mundane at best , inedible at times and often not what was described on the menu.. I compare the caviar , lobster and filet on Sea Dream to the meatloaf , raw ...
The boat was period décor throughout. Having a little balcony was relaxing. I was on a Road Scholar booked trip so excursions were included and well arranged. Learning about the hardships of the Discovery Expedition, it was surprising that the trip was completed.
The food in the main dining room was sumptuous with a variety of choices. I personally opted for the River Grill. It was more ...
Hmmm, hard to know where to begin.
Embarkation was 2 hours late, we were told a mishap on the locks leading into Lake Ontario caused the ship to be delayed. Okay, I'll buy that one.
The ship was 2 hours late going through the Welland Canal, and then another half hour delayed due to a medical issue with an elderly passenger. The Captain insisted on leaving Port Colborne on time, even though ...
If you DON'T care about the scenery . . . or the service . . . or the food . . . or the lectures . . . or the cost. . . go ahead, book.
ITINERARY: The itinerary we bought was a full day cruising the Snake and several hours on the Gorge. The company eliminated both. "Rolling river views," only available if you left the ship and rented a kayak.
SERVICE: We had to call for replacement of ...
I really enjoyed my relaxing cruise on the Mississippi. Staff really catered to all of our needs. Cruise price included excursions in every port. I had the chance to learn many things about the civil war, visit museums, and several beautiful plantations. Tour guides were very entertaining.Back on the ship we had relevant lectures and even had the opportunity to take a fun art class. In the evening ...
Warning: This may be long and a bit rambling, but there are many good things to say about this cruise.
DH and I are in our 70's. This was our fourteenth cruise overall, but our first river cruise. Way back in February 2020, we booked a cruise from Memphis to New Orleans on the American Queen. After 4 cancellations, 3 due to COVID and 1 due to Hurricane Ida, we said forget it. AQV gave us ...
I've always wanted to see the western Civil War Battlefields so for our 50th wedding anniversary we took the ACL Miss River cruise. We booked the most expensive cabin, the "owners suite" for $16,000. The cabin was large but mostly empty. They gave us wine everyday and sweet snacks in the afternoon and a bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary.
The crew was great with several ...
We loved this cruise! The Pacific Northwest is a beautiful place to cruise with spectacular scenery and some very interesting history as well. American Cruise Lines did an excellent job of showing off this scenery as well as making the history come alive with the resident historian, Bill. The excursions were fun and informative as we got to see in person the places we were learning about as we ...
