ALOHA. First let me start by saying I LOVED this Cruise! I have been on almost 20 cruises and this one was one of the best. What made it one of the best for me was of course the destination (HAWAII) and it was even better going during the Christmas holiday and of course the ship was decorated for the holidays. Carnival Splendor had a Christmas show on one of the last nights and three formal ...
First cruise on Carnival. Twelve other cruises on different lines. We purchased a suite for this adventure.
Just a joke that afternoon food was basically only served from 12 to 2:30. Really enjoyed standing in lines because Carnival is too cheap to keep dining choices open, while not having various eating establishments open for their patrons. It was great coming back from a shore excursion ...
Overall, the cruise was nice, for those things that Carnival had control of. This is the second time I have left from Long Beach, and they have definitely improved the embarkment process. We were in and processed, and then directly boarded the boat, unlike a few years ago where we waited for a few hours, prior to boarding. The ocean was rough going to Hawaii, but a lot smoother coming back. I, ...
This was a land cruise tour for me and my wife to celebrate her birthday and our 47th Anniversary. We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian village. Our dissatisfaction started here when it took a half an hour to get hot water in the morning. When we went to the front desk, the lady said you must be in the Tapa Tower. It is old and you have to run the water for a half an hour. We did not enjoy this cruise ...
We knew the weather on sea days in December was iffy, and it was. Rough seas, high winds and clouds don’t make for great days at sea. It’s nice that they have a retractable roof on the Lido pool area. The Splendor is ready for a rehab. She’s showing some wear and tear. The crew was great! Carnival provided lots of activities for sea days with a nice variety. The food was good- if you like fish, ...
Cruise to Hawaii 2018
Journey began at Heathrow on the 29th Nov arrived at 830am for a 1130 flight to LAX. We had booked Special Assistance as my wife has a artificial knee and finds long walks and standing in queues troublesome.
On entering the airport we could not see a desk anywhere, we ask a member of staff who said we would have to check in our bags first (we have used this facility a ...
This was a bucket list item to cruise to Hawaii. Had a fantastic time, Splendor is a great ship and although older, was very well maintained. Great variety of food options. MDR food was outstanding, yes, outstanding. Only had 1 bad experience, didn't like their lasagna, but staff was quick to provide another meal item. MDR service was great, with Leyton, Ping, and Adan doing a wonderful job ...
Anyone booking this cruise during November or December should be aware this is apparently NCL's scheduled maintenance time of year, so it is possible you will not get the full itinerary you have paid for. The Na Pali coast cruise was one of the main reasons we picked this cruise, only to find out, as we were boarding, that it would not be happening, which they would have known well in advance. I ...
My wife bought this cruise to Hawaii for my 60th birthday. The one thing we loved was there was never anyone in your face at dinner, lunch, ect taking pictures of you. We love the freestyle dinning. I cant complain, because there was no gambling on this cruise,so I saved money ! I miss the fact that on carnival I could buy any bottle of liquer and have it brought to the room. Not this one. The ...
I have sailed on Carnival, Royal Caribbean and now NCL. Other than the ports of call, the cruise was pitiful. The on-board entertainment, food, and service was subpar (except our cabin attendant - she was great!). At $13 per drink, the pours were barely a shot and the mixers were stale. This cruise line doesn’t allow you to bring water onboard – instead you pay $3.50 per bottle onboard or $30+ ...
