Cruise to Hawaii 2018

Journey began at Heathrow on the 29th Nov arrived at 830am for a 1130 flight to LAX. We had booked Special Assistance as my wife has a artificial knee and finds long walks and standing in queues troublesome.

On entering the airport we could not see a desk anywhere, we ask a member of staff who said we would have to check in our bags first (we have used this facility a few times before and have never had to do this). Anyway a few minutes later another member of staff came over to us and said to go with her which we did and was taken to a checking desk for special assistance, our bags were all checked and then we were told we had to go to the SA deck on the next floor up which involved walking almost the length of the departure hall up the lift and then a further walk to the SA area, which considering we had booked SA because of not being able to walk far was a bit much. All other airports we have been to put the SA desk Just inside the doors to the departure hall. Anyway once there thinks moved well. We had to go though the normal security which again is not the case at other airports where they have separate security lines so as not to slow up other passengers. After this we were taken to a waiting area, but as we had booked in to one of the airport lounge we went there and luckily for us it was just across the corridor from SA. Read more
