Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Maud

We were sent a link by Hurtigruten to fill in this review. We purchased this cruise after watching a channel 5 documentary on Hurtigruten Norwegian Cruise. What we got is NOT what we watched on TV or the itinerary we booked as per the photos on this review. Hurtigruten are not an easy company at all to contact or deal with so be aware of this fact please. Once on board Maud it becomes very ...

Great way to experience coastal Norway

Hurtigruten’s “Expedition” series cruises are half-way between a traditional cruise and an adventure expedition. The food is top class, plentiful and well managed but the choice of restaurants, bars and dining experiences is limited. The on-board entertainment centres around lectures, craft activities etc and there are no “shows” or anything of the like. There is no casino. The focus is on ...

Could not recommend Hurtigruten enough to anyone considering doing an excursion with them. Our trip to Antarctica is something we will never forget and it is all thanks to the amazing team on board. The ship was beautiful and comfortable even when the seas were rough on the Drake Passage. The Excursion Team was absolutely incredible and made our trip! The lectures and science center were ...

My husband and I REALLY enjoyed our cruise with Hurtigruten. The staff, the expeditions, the ship amenities and the safety protocols are exceptional. Food: There are three restaurants to choose from while on the ship. The food menu is diverse and flavorful. Expeditions: The expeditions are well planned out offering amazing experiences while keeping you safe. Staff: The staff our ...

Antarctica, Falkland Island, Penguins and Icebergs!

We chose this cruise because we wanted to travel to Antarctica and since we'd been very happy with the Hurtigruten cruise we'd take a few years ago up the west coast of Norway, we wanted to use the cruise line again. And they did not disappoint! Everything was amazing! Food was good and there were 2 other dining options if you didn't want to eat in the main dining room. The exhibition team was ...

Watch for theft

The price and ship quality were great. The cruise was very well managed and the expeditions (and expedition staff) were stellar. I did have a theft incident onboard from my bags when the ship was loaded and hurtigruten did little to either investigate or follow up on the report. I had 2 crew members tell me about how they were underpaid in a bid to obtain higher tips, but this also left me with ...

We were so grateful for the great time we had on board - thanks to the cruise team we had the holiday of a lifetime! There was absolutely nothing to complain about, but many points to praise: + the staff were always cheerful, friendly, hardworking and efficient - they really made you feel welcome and showed genuine interest to make this holiday the best experience you could have + very ...

I have dreamed of going to Antarctica ever since I was a child; this trip helped me complete my goal of visiting all seven continents and I was extremely happy with the tour group I used to book the trip (Gate!). The ship itself was wonderful, brand-new and I was thrilled with my cabin as well. Even though I had not requested a balcony cabin, I was given one (and it came in very handy when I ...

The staff, food and accommodations were above average. Wonderful wine options included for lunch and dinner. Our cabin was impeccable. We were upgraded to a suite which included wonderful perks like free laundry service and dining at Lindstrom Restaurant. The staff were always available to help in any way they could. Loved the excursions! You are given boots to wear (very warm and waterproof) ...

Take note other cruise lines

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Fridtjof Nansen

I’ve been on a lot of cruises and Hurtigruten is no doubt the best organised. No fuss on-shore expeditions in the world’s harshest environment. Their food wastage is very low due to the way they arrange the availability. You can’t just go into the buffet and eat anytime as meal times are controlled, but there’s nothing stopping you from taking a plate of fruit or cake for morning tea. ...
