We were very excited to do our first Viking River Cruise after having done fourteen previous river cruises on other cruise lines. It's fair to say that we have considerable experience with which to rate Viking compared to the competition. We were saddened to find that Vikings high price does not equate to a better cruise experience.
To start with, the problem with Viking does not directly ...
Thank you, Fast Alongside, for taking the time to share your experience with us. While in some European docking locations it is common to double berth and closures of the upper deck are...
We are Viking cruisers and went on this particular cruise with friends. To say we had a great time would not describe near enough the stellar experience we had on this trip. My husband had a few difficult days health wise and the staff was absolutely far and away beyond caring and efficient in helping him. The concierge recommended an on shore dr whom we visited and received excellent care. The ...
We had cruised the Danube several years ago and Viking was just the best experience! They make everything so easy and the food and beverages are the best. We chose a different area/river for this cruise and were as amazed as on this trip as we were on the last. We are glad our trip started in Amsterdam as we had nearly a full day to explore before sailing. It was amazing. Each port offered ...
We chose this cruise because of inclusion of Oberammergau Passion Play. We traveled with another couple. We spent 3 nights in Amsterdam on our own at the beginning of the trip. We stayed at the Movenpick Hotel, often used by Viking, but was not the Viking Cruise hotel for our particular cruise. The Viking staff at the hotel offered us no assistance, and actually rebuffed us when we asked ...
We had cruised the rivers of Europe previously on other lines, but we wanted to try Viking, who seems to be the leader now. We were not disappointed! The ship was beautiful, every amenity was well done, and we had a wonderful time. We cruised in a suite, which we heartily recommend for the extra room. Our shore excursions were well planned and hosted by knowledgeable, friendly local people. The ...
We chose Viking to do a riverboat cruise because our first experience on Viking was this last February on an ocean cruise from London up and down the Norwegian coast to see the northern lights. That cruise was spectacular, so we wanted to try a river cruise.
The food and service were equally wonderful, and we are now avid fans of Viking! We went from Amsterdam to Budapest and saw beautiful ...
Please see the positive things about the ship and the staff at the bottom of this review. This review is really about the pre-cruise experience and the most useless air travel department in the world. We've traveled a lot. We know. (to give you an idea of our travel experience, together we have over 4 million miles of air travel. This is not our first rodeo.)
The most useless telephone number ...
Thank you, Caribbean soul1, for sharing your experience with us. Your kind words about our onboard staff, particularly towards the individuals who stood out to you, are truly a testament to...
BORING!
If you like to go on a river cruise to do very little this is the one for you. There is very little to see at the ports, small towns with nothing in them of interest. An example is day 2, a two hour drive through the Black Forest to see a cuckoo clock factory and gift shop. The ride back was another hour and a half. Total waste of a day. We skipped the tour of Cologne and walked around ...
We chose this cruise because we wanted to visit the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Switzerland. We especially were looking forward to seeing the many castles as we cruised down the Rhine River and we were not disappointed. Each of the port excursions were wonderful. The travel guides all had great personalities and they shared a lot of information with us. And we enjoyed spending time on our ...
We chose this cruise mainly because of the FREE AIRFARE. We were joined by my brother and his wife and it was a great time. All the excursions were great, with the exception of one where we ate an "authentic" German dinner...we would not do that again. The staff is, without exception, the best hosts, hostesses, bar tenders, cabin-attendants we have ever experienced. We ate with different people ...
