We chose this ship because of the itinerary and to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We boarded around noon and embarkation was smooth and quick. We had an interior cabin which was comfortable with ample storage for our clothes and personal items. The bathroom was stocked with a liquid soap on the shower wall and 2 small bars of soap.
Dining: We had My Time Dining, food was mediocre at best, ...
We choose this ship based on the itinerary which was wonderful. Barcelona was wonderful and exceeded our expectations. Embarkation for extremely easy. The ship on the other hand was another story for it was in need of updating badly. From the second you boarded to the end you staff was constantly trying to up sale services. The entire trip we were nickeled and dimed every minute we were on the ...
The Jewel of the Seas has to be towards the bottom end of the scale for good value cruising. If you value a good night’s sleep do not stay in cabins near the central area as the music blasts out of the Centrum every night until midnight and can be heard loud and clear in all the cabins on all levels near the central, open area of the ship. For some reason all the entertainers on the ship thought ...
We have cruised on Independence of the Seas on a number of occasions and are Diamond level members of the Crown and Anchor Society loyalty programme. Previously we have always been satisfied with the experience but this cruise was very disappointing.
The ship has just had a major refit and we have seen it described as “enhancing the family activity”. To us the result was most unsatisfactory. ...
Itinerary was great. Ship condition was below average. Dated and reeking of smoke. Food was below average. The buffet had the exact same food on it for 12 days. Everything was an up charge. Wine options were below average. The only decent wines were not included in the drink package and were an additional up charge. Why offer a drink package that doesn't include 50% of the drinks. The only ...
The food was a disappointment by cruise ship standards. Breads and deserts showed signs of pre-prepared ingredients, mixes, frozen. Main dining room and Windjammer cafeteria there was a fair selection but the quality was moderate. At times little was on offer, especially in mid-afternoon on port days exactly when you might want a late lunch or snack. No pop-up bbq or special food ...
We chose this cruise because of the amazing destinations. Traveling through the Baltic, stopping in Denmark, Norway, Estonia, Finland and finishing up in St.Petersburg in Russia.
The destinations did not disappoint...but the food and entertainment were abysmal. The ice show was spectacular...but if all went downhill from there.
It was similar to a 70’s holiday camp type entertainment with ...
My 75th birthday treat and Bucket List "Go on a BIG SHIP". 4,128 passengers, 1,600 sunbeds. Overcrowded by about 1,000 passengers too many. Queues everywhere. Despite valiant staff service at bars is appalling that's if you can get a seat. On non sun days there is an acute shortage of seats. Hence the high amount of scooters as this is the only way to guarantee a seat.
The food in the MDR is ...
Where do I start? I’ve been on many different ships with many different cruise lines and this ship is mediocre. A big ship, yes! But not done elegantly. It felt very hokey.
Let’s start with the good. The night shows were very good. Hair Spray was excellent, so was Mo5aic and the comedy. Hiro sucked however. Staff are super friendly. We traveled with our 1 year old and the service in Royal ...
With over 100 cruise nights on many different ships, this has to be the most underwhelming experience onboard that we've had. Previously we had a fairly high opinion of Royal Caribbean, now they're certainly not our first choice to sail with.
Having said that, the ports of call were pretty wonderful (but why Ravenna???).
The good and the bad, in no particular order:
Great handling of ...
