We recently completed a 14-day Search for the Northern Lights cruise to Norway. Although we had quite a few days with rough seas, the Island Princess handled the seas well. Our cabin was spacious and the balcony was larger than on many ships. Some of the cabin furnishings clearly need to be replaced. Our mini-suite couch and chair looked very worn. The bed also had clear indentations of where ...
We wanted a change from the Med, so Norway seemed like a pretty different cruise with something genuinely new to see. The fjords did not disappoint, everywhere you turn there is another stunning view. As for the ship, it's mostly well laid out with a beautiful piazza and it feels premium thoughout. The Take Five lounge is a bit of a waste, as Jazz isn't nearly as popular as someone seems to think ...
About us: We are a married couple in our late 50's early 60's. We have experienced over 20+ ocean cruises, and this was our first post Covid. Our experiences have been with Princess, Celebrity, RCCL, NCL and Carnival. We travel for the destinations and the ease of which cruising allows. I will cover the pre cruise travel, ship, ports, excursions and food.
Pre Cruise: We booked our own ...
This was our first cruise on Princess, although we have cruised many times on NCL and RCCL. The itinerary and price is what attracted us to this particular cruise of the Norwegian fjords. Overall, we were not disappointed.
We took care of our flights, hotel and transportation ourselves. We flew into LHR and took the excellent BlackBerry Car service (a private car with driver). We stayed at the ...
We haven’t cruised with Princess for the best part of 10 years, and never on the Island Princess.
Shes a classic style cruise liner and on the larger size of what we have been used to recently.
Embarking was quick and flawless at Southampton and we were in our cabin before 1pm.
An inside cabin to the rear of deck B, not far from the rear lifts and stairs. The “stateroom” was a good size ...
Our ninth cruise with Princess and Regal met most of our expectations, some exceeded but one very disappointing concerns.
We booked a balcony cabin and chose Caribe, stateroom was upto the normal standard and more than met our needs. Downside of cabin, some stains on carpet, still has plastic shower curtains and no usb chargers in the side lamps. Some rust evident on balcony, but no problem ...
We chose this cruise for the itinerary and to travel with Princess again after 7 years trying other lines. Our suite experience certainly made this trip excellent because we were treated royally. Kudos to staff in Sabatinis, select area of main dining room and room steward. Food was very good and we had no complaints. Buffet was often busy but perfect for a quick lunch or cup of tea. Coffee was ...
Sky Princess, boat built and inaugurated in 2019, therefore quite recent. Same size as the Royal, Regal, Majestic… The boat has more windows, more modern restaurant spaces.
Food and restaurants
At Market Place, buffet restaurant for all meals is fine. Traditional dishes for all dinners with, in addition, a different theme each evening! In the dining room, the menus were varied and the food ...
This was a bonus week away for us after a long trip in February so we just wanted to relax and explore some new places. Was a bit concerned as we have never been on a ship this big and favour Celebrity smaller ships and Cunard though we did do a short sailcation on the Regal Princess during Covid. The ship is great, lovely decor, lots of differents bars and restaurants meaning that it has a ...
7night cruise to Scandinavian cities.
Southampton round trip. We had an Aft balcony.
Pros. .Loved this ship. Very attractive layout and even though sailing full, plenty of places to sit. Great Aft balcony.
Good service in dining room but pretty poor in bars
Princess in my opinion,is extremely well organized in organising their trips(had a bad experience with Celebrity). Enjoyed all ...
