Friends of ours who have been on several cruises, recommended the Epic Cruise. It was our first ever cruise and we were celebrating our 30 Year Wedding Anniversary. The entire experience was awesome! The Ship was first class with outstanding shows and entertainment. The excursions were great experiences and loads of fun. The service on board the ship was top notch! We especially enjoyed the Cirque Dreams Epicurean show, Burn the Floor Show and the music entertainment of the Epic Beatles!!!! The only excursion of disappointment was Jamaica as the tour guide was unorganized and the island itself was not what we expected. Our favorite excursion was Cozumel, the tour guides and the cleanliness of tender boat and Passion Island experience was most enjoyable. The variety of food offered on the Epic and how delicious it all tasted was beyond expectations. The bartenders kicked butt!!!! We already put money down for our next cruise. Read Less

We chose Norwegian lines basically because my husband isn't a dress up kinda guy and Norwegian doesn't have the formal dinners! They have several dinning options. We enjoyed the buffet, they have a different dinner theme every day so you have new choices daily. The young girl that was the greeter at the buffet every morning and evening was so sweet and was the perfect person for the job. We also liked to destinations that this trip offered. I recently had health problems and open heart surgery so the getaway and relaxation was greatly needed. The entire cruise was very relaxed and not fast paced. The entire staff were so happy, friendly, helpful. Our mini suite with a balcony was beautiful, and had more storage room than I ever imagined. We did 2 excursion, Dunns river falls-bamboo beach in Jamaica and turtles and swim with the stingrays in Grand Cayman. Both were exciting and fun, well worth it to see and do. We had such a fantastic time it would be awesome to do it more often I didn't want it to end! Read Less

We chose this cruise for it's embarkation port, itinerary, and price. All was good. Specialty restaurants were very good, as was the main dining room. The ships staff was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable about anything that we might need or want. The entertainment was top notch, especially the Cirq De Epicurian, that was completely surprising, as the food was great and the show was completely engrossing! our shore excursions were better than anticipated, as the staffs of the individual excursions were just as polite and friendly as the crew on board the ship. Our cabin was functional, but small, as is the case with every cruise ship we've been on, but the bed was a bit short, my feet hung over the end of the bed. Embarkation and debarkation was smoother than any other cruise we've ever been on. Activities on board were different and interesting, and seemed a bit original, other than the usual bingo. Read Less

We just got off a 10 day cruise on the Epic. Just thought I'd share a few things with the group..... We booked this cruise because of the ship (we had been on the Epic previously and love her!) and the length of the cruise......we had been to all the ports a couple times so we figured we'd get off if we felt like it, or not, so we felt no pressure to run around all over the place if we chose to just stay on the ship. I enjoyed that feeling of relaxation! Our cruise stopped at the usual suspects.....Jamaica, Grand Caymen, Belize, Cozumel, Costa Maya......we were supposed to stop at the NCL private Island (which we've been to before) but couldn't get in due to rough waters.....so we had an extra sea day which we enjoyed. Our favorite port was by far Costa Maya....they have an area for only cruise ships that was really done nicely, with shops, a pool, restaurants and bars, alot of activities and things to do and see. It was great! They had added so much since we had seen it a few years ago! Had a great time there! The best snorkeling I've ever experienced is in Cozumel.....we were told about a place called Money Beach our first trip there and have gone there every time since! It's a short cab ride from the pier and well worth it! Nice restaurant and bar, lounge chairs.....rent snorkeling gear for about $12 for the day and you're all set. Clearest water and the most fish I've ever seen!! Don't even get off the ship in Grand Caymen unless you just want to go to a beach or shop. Nothing much there IMO. Same goes for Jamaica, we got off to go to Margaritaville where we had some fun years ago, but it's really changed. Wouldn't go again, very run down, no fun, terrible service!! We're not fans of Belize either, but this time it was nice because they built a private Island which was nice, so we enjoyed it this time. Nice beach, pool with swim-up bar, shops, etc.......no comparison to Costa Maya but along the same lines. Now for the ship...... We are in the minority in that we never spend extra money to upgrade our cabin because it's just not worth it to us.....we are never in it but to shower, change and sleep!! So we keep our inside. We like to be up on the deck for breakfast, the pool, etc., we aren't they type to sit in our room by ourselves and look out at the ocean from our balcony, we like to be among the people! So my critic is for the inside cabin..... Don't listen to all the nay-sayers who complain about the set-up of the bath area.....it's no big deal! Yes, the shower, sink and toilet are all separated, but there's a curtain you can pull if you need to which only leaves the sink outside of it, but it worked fine for us. The toilet and shower also of course have their own doors, so who cares?! The room was probably the most spacious on any of the ships, the closet and drawer space was absolutely the best, and there is plenty of cabinet space for toiletries above the sink. If you can get by the unusual bath set-up, it's the best laid out room with the best closet and drawer space for everything we've had, and we've been on many NCL ships!! The food in the main dining rooms has come a long way from years ago. We were extremely impressed with everything we ordered in Taste and Manhattan Room. The buffet is average.....breakfast is breakfast and they had a good variety every morning, it's set up well in that there are quite a few "omelette stations" and they had eggs benedict every day so I was happy! Their breads are amazing, their bakery on all the NCL ships IMO is second to none. Lunch was ok, nothing special I will say for the lunch buffet but they have great chicken salad and they had a taco bar almost every day so that was cool! We ate in Le Bistro and Moderno this time with our two platinum free specialty dinners. Le Bistro wasn't as good as other ships IMO but Moderno was amazing! They have a fantastic soup/salad bar to die for!! My favorite part of the whole meal was the soup (Fiejoada)......unbelievable!! I couldn't wait to get back to that restaurant just for that. Make sure you try it!! Entertainment....the two main shows were not up to par with other ships IMO....but worth seeing......Burn the Floor and Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Both interesting but mediocre compared to some other newer ships.....we saw Rock of Ages and Oh What a Night and Blue Man Group on other cruises. Rock of Ages is far and away my favorite, I think it's still on the Breakaway. We love Howl at the Moon so we stopped in there every night they played. The comedian Rodney L. (forget his last name, sorry) was the best I've ever seen, don't miss him!! What else......the casino......not my favorite but large and spread out, not the best selection of slots IMO and way too smokey and smelly when you got near the smoking section. Some of the games I liked were in smoking so I did have to venture in there sometimes but it was horrible!!! All in all, the Epic is one of our favorite NCL ships......we aren't fans of the pool area on the Breakaway class ships.....the Epic has a large area of outdoor tables so you can have breakfast and lunch while at the pool without having to sit in that stupid corridor or inside like on those others. That's a big deal to us, so I would choose the Epic, the Dawn, and others over that Breakaway class all day long!! Read Less

This cruise fit into our time line for our 2 months in Florida each year. I choose cruises more based on where it disembarks from and length than where they sail to. My wife had been to all of the ports previously but she likes to cruise so we always enjoy the time regardless of where we sail to. We have been on the Epic before and found the entertainment top notch. The food is what I expected and the cruise staff was always there to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and having a good time. The restaurants and service is always very good and in general we enjoy Norwegian for the entertainment and activities. We find that there is always something to do. I do have concerns about the Epic as a ship. Having been on a few other ships I find the Epic to be hard to navigate. The lounges and common areas are a bit small to accomadate the audience sometimes and this is a problem. Specifically, in the Atrium there are a lot of game shows and activities that occur, but when you sit in the area to watch on the "big screen" you can't see if your 4 or 5 rows back because there is a ceiling that blocks you view. The design of the ship in comparison with others I've been on could have been much better. But the cruise itself was everything my wife and I expected it to be and we enjoyed our time on the cruise and had a good time. Also met many wonderful people. Read Less

We made new friends onboard as we always do and got to know the staff on a personal basis this cruise...our steward Albert was great and the staff overall were pleasant and so helpful as always! The entertainment was OK but would love to see The Blue Man Group and Legends back at some point....food was amazing and all staff and restaurant staff made my birthday so special! Can't wait to do our next NCL cruise....not sure which one yet but am sure we'll decide soon! Thank you NCL! Read Less

We arrived at Port Canaveral the day before our sail date. We went out to dinner, walked to the entrance of the port and we saw our ship, Norwegian Epic, docked. It was so big. We had the a shuttle pick us up at the hotel and brought us and our luggage to the port for embarkation. We were expecting a line, which there was but it moved smoothly and quickly. We checked in and got our keys. So excited to get on board. We found our cabin, bigger than expected and was very pleased with the large balcony which was VERY large. We met our steward, Walter and immediately asked to have the wet bar cleaned out and 2 deck chairs for our balcony. The case of water we ordered was already in the cabin. Walter was very efficient. He handed me a bottle of champagne! Loved that touch. By the time we finished exploring the ship, our luggage was in our room and the wet bar was emptied. Walter showed up with the deck chairs! We were very happy with everything. The food, the drinks, shows, restaurants, nothing disappointed us. We disembarked to all our stops which was easy. Jamaica was a let-down. Too many people asking us if we wanted taxis, rides, excursions, etc. Overall, the beaches were beautiful. We enjoyed walking at every stop. Each night for dinner, we had wonderful service. Most places were crowded but we expected that so no problem for us. My husband and I were very pleased with everything. Thank you Norwegian Cruise Lines for an unforgettable experience. Read Less

This was the first ever cruise for my husband and myself. I chose this particular cruise because of the fantastic offers given by Norwegian. Some people said probably not the best to choose a 10 day for your first cruise but I think it was the best thing we did. Just as I was learning to navigate the ship and all it had to offer it was over, just don't say oh we will do it later, do it now. The food was incredible, specialty restaurants were superb, Taste and Manhattan Room superb and the buffet was excellent, we never at dinner there but breakfast and lunch were excellent every food you can imagine, you could never go hungry food was so plentiful. Plus O'Sheehans was open 24 hours for great food. Bars were bountiful and drinks were super. I can't say enough about the staff they were always welcoming and smiling. Loved our cabin steward Bob he was fantastic, very personable and anything we needed he had it for us. The shows were outstanding Burn the Floor and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert . The cruise director Mandy was always visible and so upbeat. I really enjoyed this cruise but I think my husband is more of an all-inclusive traveler. We will definitely do another cruise on Norwegian. Alaska up next. Read Less

NCL always treat us well and are so nice. On this cruise, for us, it was all about the best band on this ship...4-Blue!! We never missed a night listening to them!! We watch them on YouTube at home since we miss them!! One downfall was when they got to play on deck one night but they only played for 1 hour! We, the great crowd of an audience wanted MORE of them, but they weren’t given permission to play longer.....the biggest mistake of the night! THE ONLY other thing we are not fond of are the design of the rooms. But we both agree this was one of our BEST trips ever! Big ship with lots to do! Stage shows were great also!! We are not a fan of having to make a reservation for some of them, but that’s how it is on this ship! The water slides are AWESOME....especially the toilet bowl one!!! Highly recommend Teppanyaki for dinner... it’s a WOW!!!!!! It’s a must!!! Bliss the nightclub was unpleasant the night we went....6 of us. We didn’t stay long. I pray they aren’t all like that on other ships. We enjoyed the pool areas a lot, and we enjoyed the couple, man and woman who sang onboard deck, but the raggae band wasn’t that great. In fact, I wanted to go elsewhere when they played. All other bands were really good!!!! We relaxed at the Martini bar at times....and the Beatles Band was VERY GOOD also!!! We’d take this same cruise on this same ship again anytime!!! Loved it!!! Read Less

The Epic is a large ship, so there is always a lot to do. We sailed Jan 23 for 10 days so some of the concerns we had heard with not being able to get chairs to sun ourselves were not a problem at all. I think this may have been because it was an older demographic due to a 10 day cruise. We had a balcony room 9087 and it was fabulous. It had more storage space than I could have ever imagined. We over pack and we still didn't use several areas of storage. Be sure to really look everywhere because there are places you wouldn't even guess that open to put things. It was wonderful. The bathrooms are unique and not my favorite but they were not as bad as I had anticipated after reading other reviews. If you make reservations for dining it is best but even if you don't the lines seem to go quickly. People started lining up early so it seemed like the line was awful but as soon as they opened the doors it was fine. The few specialty restaurants we went to were good but if you didn't do any I think you would be fine. Some people did specialty dining almost every evening and were very happy. We didn't go to the buffet until towards the end but I was pleasantly surprised. The shows were so-so, I would say that I have seen better productions on Carnival but they were still fine. I was not a fan of the Pricilla show but the acting was good. The main desk was fantastic and extremely helpful with anything you needed. I was very impressed with all of them and especially Angelica. I was leased impressed with the line (almost hour long) to stand in for the internet manager that was not very helpful nor very friendly. There needed to be two people in this area at peak times, it was ridiculous. Someone should have seen there was a problem and gotten some help. Overall I loved my cruise but if I have this issue on my next NCL cruise I seriously have to consider not cruising NCL again. The ports of call were wonderful and the way NCL makes sure that you are taken care to get to your excursions is very impressive. Almost funny, but very impressive. Read Less

The embarkation and disembarkment were easy. The service from the staff was exceptional most of the time. The food overall was the best we had all year cruising and that was our forth cruise in four months. The port excursions were very good and the $50 credit for each cable against were both occupants booking was great. The ports selection and ship was the main factor for selecting this cruise. The Epic is a beautiful ship and easy to navigate. The specialty restaurant overall were exceptional except for Cagneys which was disappointing because the service and food. We enjoyed the movie nights under the stars outside in H2O on the back of the Epic. Finally, the entertainment was excellent. I would love to cruise on a transatlantic on this ship in the future. food was incredible and Haven staff attentive and personable Cruise Director Nelson Martins and Vina Alvarano were terrific, attentive and professional!!!. Their caring and assistance made this trip very special. It had been 25 years since we sailed. I am now looking at booking another cruise out of San Juan on the Epic in 2020. The option of the Haven made this trip one to remember for a long time. The staff came to know us by name and treated us as family, The sun deck and lounge chairs in the Haven area was special. The shows on-board were great and food in the specialty restaurants were four stat in my opinion. having access to the Haven we seldom visited the dining area for other guests however they seem very satisfied and happy when listening to conversation in the elevator. Epic staff never allowed my drink glass to empty and very accessible to help us with any request. Read Less

We chose the cruise via Travel email sent to us. The price seemed reasonable to us and taking a cruise on a cruise ship was on our bucket list. We were so delighted with the cruise although we cruised with 4,000 of our newest friends we always felt welcome by all the staff, especially our Cabin Stewart, Andrik Prasetyo, who was very personable and caring at all times of our comfort on board. The food was excellent at every restaurant on board. The NCL Epic allows one to choose which restaurant to dine at and is not a "cattle call" type of setting. Food and drink was available 24/7. The entertainment was top of the line! and a good variety was available during the cruise. The public areas (including the rest rooms were always spotless - a real feat considering there were 4,000 passengers onboard. We are retired and found the passengers where a span of age groups so we felt completely comfortable with all the venues we elected to attend while on board. We highly recommend Norwegian Cruise Lines. Read Less

This was our (couple in our early 60's) second time on Epic. We have also cruised Celebrity and enjoyed it. The staff at Epic were awesome. They worked so hard and tirelessly for the passengers. Our biggest problem with the cruise was with our fellow passengers, who seemed impossible to please and who would whine about absolutely anything and everything, no matter how trivial. It was very depressing to hear that whining, given that the crew have in many cases left their families for long periods to make a better life for them. The entertainment on Epic is stellar—do see Cirque (definitely worth the extra money), Burn the Floor, Howl at the Moon, and the Beatles Band in the Cavern. The Cirque is the only one that has a fee—all the other shows are free. Yes—it is a good idea to do reservations online beforehand. The food on Epic was awesome! I cannot believe the complaints I read regarding the food when I was researching our trip. The food was fabulous in most of the places we ate. Cagney's, Bistro, Moderno, and la Cuccina were all excellent. Typically we ate in Taste and our meals were varied and delicious, and service was friendly and prompt (most of the time). It probably helped that we like to eat a bit later, but keep in mind that lineups are worst from 5:30-8:00–after that it is usually easy to get a table anywhere. Breakfast and lunch at Taste on sea days were lovely. We didn't do too much in the way of excursions. The private beach in Belize was very relaxing. The cabins are small, but the balcony compensates. We really didn't spend much time in the cabin.. The bed was very comfortable. Our cabin steward Rogel was fantastic. Overall, we really enjoyed the cruise and felt that we got a very good deal for what we paid. No complaints at all. Read Less

This was our third Norwegian cruise and first on the Epic. I read many poor reviews beforehand and was quite nervous about what to expect. The cruise wound up being fantastic. The room does have separate toilet and shower areas with frosted glass but you cannot see or really hear anything that is going on. The only negative for the room is the bed is quite short. It was very clean and our room steward did a good job daily. We ate at 3 specialty restaurants Cagneys, Moderno and Teppanyaki and they were all fantastic from the food to the service. No long waits at all. We ate at Shanghai's two times and it was excellent as well. If you did not get there early you wound up with about a 30-45 minute wait but being on vacation we were not in a hurry. We ate at Taste two times for dinner with no long wait and dinner from start to finish was maybe an hour and a half both times. O'Sheehans was excellent as always and the buffet was great for breakfast and lunch. The aqua park was excellent as well as the comedy shows. The waits at the bars most of the time for a drink was maybe a couple of minutes with only once or twice taking about 5-8 minutes for service. Overall it was excellent and i would not hesitate to go on the Epic again. Read Less

This was our first cruise and after doing a lot of research decided to give the Epic a try. After reading many reviews of other cruisers I was a little nervous to even take a cruise. We are a family of four - with a 12 and 11 year old. I must say I'm glad we chose to do Christmas on the Epic! Since it was our first cruise and we didn't totally know what to expect - we made most reservations in advance. By reading many of the other reviews I felt very prepared for the cruise and all of the pros and cons of the ship. We had a 3-night specialty dining package and a soda package. We did not spend any time at the bars, other than our occasional trip to get a Pepsi. We had no trouble with embarkation. We stayed in Cocoa Beach the night before and arrived early to the port. We had very little lines to wait in and got through with no trouble. The embarkation was delayed a bit and we were not able to get on the ship until about noon, but the time passed by pretty quickly. Once on the ship we took some time to find our way around and while the hallways are a bit tricky at times, once you figured it out it was fairly easy to navigate. We stayed in a family cabin on deck 14 (14022) and while the room was pretty small and tight for 4 people - we found it manageable for the week. We were not in the room very often anyway. Bismark, our cabin steward was very attentive. We loved him and the towel animals he left each night. Each time we called - for little things - they were always fixed before the next time we were back in our room. One of the only cons we had while on the ship was the Splash Academy. Our kids - 12 and 11 - were not fans of the experience. They went a couple of times, but due to their ages they found the activities to be a little boring and too structured. They did enjoy the times when they were allowed to go to the teen club for a few hours. They spent most of their time outside of splash academy. They will let them check themselves in and out at their ages - which works out pretty well, except one night my daughter could not check out because they had somehow let another child out with her ship card. With all of the security they have in place - they should pay more attention to it as that should not have happened. Guest services was very helpful and printed her a new one, but it was a hassle to have to go down and get it fixed. I found out how to get it fixed by another passenger who was there at the same time. The staff could not tell me what I needed to do. We enjoyed most of our dining experiences. We had a specialty dining package for 3 nights. We ate at Cagney's, Moderno, and Teppanyaki. We enjoyed Tepanyaki and Cagney's the most. We also ate at Taste and The Manhattan Room and enjoyed both of those. My kids loved the fried chicken at lunch at Taste. They said it was the best they've ever had. On Christmas, Taste had a wonderful holiday menu that we enjoyed. We usually made early reservations for everything and never had a problem waiting. We were always seated immediately and service usually happened very quickly. The only issue we had with service was getting refills on Pepsi. That was pretty consistent across the ship. We typically ate breakfast and lunch in the buffet or outside at the Garden Café if we were not at a port. The kids liked that there were always burgers/hot dogs/pizza available if they did not like what was in the buffet. We could always find something we wanted to eat even if not on the first try. We loved all of the entertainment onboard. The shows were phenomenal. We were able to attend all of them. We made reservations online prior to boarding the ship and that worked out well. We ate early dinners and made the 7:00 shows with no problem. We did not get there to wait in in line early. As long as you were there before 10 minutes before the show, you could go straight in. We attended Burn the Floor and Priscila without the kids. I would not take the kids to Priscila. Definitely heed the PG16 warnings. The kids attended an 8:00 comedy show one night and the Christmas and magic show. They enjoyed them all. It was very nice for the Epic staff to put on an extra Christmas show. We enjoyed it. We booked all of our excursions through the cruiseline due to not knowing what to really expect at the ports since it was our first cruise. Our excursions were canceled at Great Stirrup Cay and at Grand Cayman with very little notice. That was slightly frustrating. Great Stirrup Cay was a nice relaxing day. We played some volleyball and relaxed on the beach. We are from Florida, but still found the water to be a little cold to snorkel. In Jamaica, we went Aqua Tubing and to Bamboo Beach Club. We loved the tubing. We did not have a great experience at the Beach Club. They oversold it and it took nearly 3 hours for us to get our food. When we first arrived they could not find enough chairs for our tour and we had to stand and wait for quite awhile. We enjoyed the food - once we finally got it. It seemed very disorganized. At Grand Cayman, since our excursion was canceled, we got off the ship and found a taxi to take us to the Turtle Farm. We arrived there prior to the cruise tours and got to enjoy it while it was not crowded. We did have a good time there and then just took a taxi back to town and did some shopping. We ate at the Hard Rock there. We enjoyed Cozumel the most. Our excursion was SNUBA diving and we all really enjoyed that! We ate at Senor Frogs and enjoyed that as well. The lines at disembarkation were long, but they moved fairly fast and we found our luggage and got through security in less than an hour. With a full ship I didn't really think that was bad at all. Overall, it was a great week and we will definitely sail with Norwegian again and the Epic if it has an itinerary we are looking for! Read Less

This was our (my wife and myself's) third time on the Epic in as many years. The date and port were perfect and the Epic was available for sailing. There is only one gripe and an immense amount of compliments I could give the staff and ship. Let's get the gripe out of the way. During day one and two there was one, yes one, staff member roaming the lounge chair area taking drink orders in Spice H20. If you wanted a drink you had to get up and (gasp) get one yourself. By the third day, it seemed they had flexed staff around and had more servers and bartenders. I can only assume that they anticipated a heaver need in other areas, or that there were other tasks the staff was attending to. Having been on the Epic three times in two years, we found the shows to be lacking. If this was our first or second viewing we would have been thrilled, however, we have seen them before and there was nothing new. The casts changed but the shows were the same. The shows were fantastic and the entertainment surely didn't disappoint. Dining was spectacular. We had a meal in every restaurant except for the French one (Le Bistro?). We had a dining package and Platinum reward. Dining on NCL is the best on the seas and if my wife and I tried to eat like this on land, we would be broke! The quality and service is impeccable aboard the ship. We did not get to visit Great Stirrup Cay due to rough winds/seas. The decision was made to keep us at sea rather than heading to Miami. I loved the decision to keep us in the warm sun rather than rush home and towards a cold Miami. It can't be an easy decision to make on NCL's end, but given the circumstances, they made the correct call in my opinion. We will be back on another NCL ship soon, but we will be seeking a new ship within the fleet to experience since our last three cruises were abord the Epic. Read Less

We had an awesome family vacation on the NCL EPIC, sailing December 15-December 22 in a 2 bedroom Haven cabin. This was our first experience in the Haven and will definitely cruise the Haven in the future. Our butler, Richard and room steward, Elisa were wonderful making sure that we had anything we needed. The second day my son ordered a turkey sandwich from room service, once Richard found out how much he enjoyed the sandwich he would bring one each afternoon with our afternoon snack. It was the little things like this which made our cruise special. Omar, the EPIC Haven concierge, was great! Omar made sure to talk with us each day, making sure that we had everything we needed and would arrange show/dinner reservations. PJ is the best bartender by far!! This cruise was scheduled for 3 sea days, with stops in Tortola, St. Thomas, and Great Stirrup Cay. Unfortunately, the weather was pretty rough on the last 2 days which prevented us from stopping at GSC. Even with pretty heavy winds/seas we noticed very little movement on the EPIC, there was some but not bad considering the wind strength. We were originally scheduled for a short day in St. Thomas which was extended by 4 hours since we were no longer stopping at GSC. This was our first time visiting Tortola and opted for a trip to Jost Van Dyke. I would highly recommend booking the Rebel Yell to Jost Van Dyke. We enjoyed our day with Captain Claudia and her crew Taz, Johnny, and Justin. They made sure we had plenty of water and rum punch on the boat ride and checked in with us several times while on the island. We will definitely book this excursion again. The ship entertainment was top notch, we enjoyed all the shows. This is a big ship and was fully booked, but the only time we waited was for the elevators was when shows were letting out which is to be expected with 4200 people onboard. The EPIC has a unique design, but not a problem and will cruise her again if the itinerary is one we want. Read Less

Embrakment was easy and organized. We had a balcony room lots of room for two people and storage for clothes. Dining was great. Had most meals at buffet garden cafe buffet, Cagney steakhouse, Japanese hibachi and braizilian steakhouse. Service was wonderful. Guaranteed you won’t go hungry. Don’t forget to have room service at least for a late night pizza snack. Ports of call are a way to stretch your legs. And shopping for jewelry and forget me nots..looking forward to my next cruise. Staff are friendly and helpful service was wonderful. Also lots to do on the ship on sea days. Your daily schedule was full or just enjoy the day with a drink in hand and make friends for a life time. I enjoyed being pampered. And not having to follow a schedule and free style. I suggest 120 days out to sailing book your dining times for dinner. Early times go fast. We like to dine early. So, I was happy someone suggested that we booked earlier. Shows every evening. So, if you’re looking forward to some pampering book your getaway trip soon. Read Less

If the worst part was the embarkation, you're fine. Food solid all around with plenty pf variety. Entertainment amazing, just make sure you reserve. Activities well planned and more than enough. Please ignore people who are never happy, complaining about stupid stuff while refusing to see the bigger picture. If you couldn't find something to eat or do on this ship, the problem is you, not the Epic. You go on a megaship then complain about it being crowded. Doesn't make sense. All these small things could happen any time. Sure, they need a bigger port, but miniscule detail. Embarkation started badly, but ended smooth and once on board it was forgotten. Complaining about the room? It's a place to sleep, shower, and poop. The layout is non issue for me. It was all around fantastic and highly recommended. The cabin was functional and works. I like the separate toilet and shower. Itinerary was good, a little disappointing not getting into great stirrup, but I get it. Jamaica is beautiful. Andre, the cruise director is fantastic. If you want quiet and relaxing in luxury, go on a smaller niche ship. The pros far outweigh the cons. At the end of the day, you're on vacation. Read Less

NCL was having a special - (cabin prices dropping and extra perks) - so why not book? I was apprehensive about booking 10 - nights ... kept thinking to myself - I would get board and could not stand being on the ship a second longer! HOWEVER, to my surprise the 10-nights flew by and soon I had to get back to reality aka - work. EMBARKMENT: absolutely sucked! Apparently there was an undisclosed issue at the port that delayed arriving port passengers from to go through security and board the ship. Funny thing is - while standing in line over three hours outside of the pier just to pass through security - everyone was in good spirits. THE CABIN: I booked a Haven Spa Suite (early Christmas present for myself). My cabin, the service (Mohammed - butler and Johnitto - cabin steward) lived up the Haven name - BUT, as the only person in the cabin I even found it a bit tight for me. Nice comfy round mattress and spa tub in the room (AWESOME) - BUT, they just took up way too much space. If you wanted to relax in your cabin, you had to sit on the bed. For the money spent on a suite, a Haven Suite - there really should be a separate seating area. DINING: LaCuccina -- I had a 5:30 PM reservation - perfect time to get a table overlooking the front of the ship. OMG - what a breathtaking view! If I had known what an amazing view could have been had - I would have dined there ALL 10 nights. I also dined at Cagney's, Haven Restaurant and O'Sheehan's. I enjoyed the quality of the food and service provided by each venue, BUT - everything was overshadowed by the view from LaCuccina. If I ever sail the EPIC again, I definitely would definitely dine in whatever restaurant is occupying that space! ON BOARD ENTERTAINMENT: Can't comment - did not attend any shows or events. I am that obscure passenger who does not need a "broadway show, comedy or musical or dance" program to enjoy a cruise. SHORE EXCURSIONS/PORTS: Yes, I am one of those cruisers who book overpriced excursions provided by the cruise lines. Call it peace of mind, having a translator or just too scared to book with local vendors - its what I do. I supposed that since I studied History, Anthropology and Archeology in college - I booked four of the following excursions: Ocho Rios -- Bob Marley Experience: I have taken this excursion three times - for me, it is about the views as we drive through the mountains to reach Nine Miles - Marley's final resting place. BTW - I am that less than 1% of visitors on this tour who is not interested in the "smoke" or feeling the necessity of making a Marley pilgrimage. I found that this excursion gave me a peak into the lives of local communities and their way of life. Harvest Kaye -- Monkey River Eco Tour: I was a bit unprepared for this excursion. I guess I missed the part of the description where it said to wear long pants and sleeves and good walking shoes. I wore two out of three - glad I wore sneakers (I'll tell you why in a minute). The high-speed 30 minute boat ride through mangrove trees from the pier to Monkey River - was great. Then we got to the mouth of the Monkey River and slowly made our way several miles (not sure of the distance) upriver. Our tour guide and his boat operator - pointed out wild life, vegetation while sharing personal and historical insights of Monkey River. Then we stopped (this is part of the excursion I missed/didn't read - and why one really needed to wear long pants, shirt and very good walking shoes). Apparently, part of this excursion involved trekking through the jungle/rain forest. On this day - we were very very lucky as temperatures were in the 70s and no mosquitoes (when we started). We met up with two other tours - everyone heading about 1/2 mile into the jungle searching for howler monkeys. BTW, I forgot to mention as we made our way towards the howler monkeys - the ground was muddy, and we were advised against from reaching out/grabbing any hanging vegetation as it could have spikes (hence the need to for the long sleeves and pants). Slowly we made our way into a clearing where we were able to see the howler monkeys on tree tops. Once we got there - guides were assisting all tourists - not just the ones in their tour group - but everyone who looked like they needed assistance (MUCH APPRECIATED). We weren't at the clearing very long when we noticed that temperatures started to rise and the mosquitoes and other flying biting critters started to return (glad I used bug spray - some did not and paid the price!) As we headed back to our river boat - it seemed like the ground got muddier? Maybe - maybe not? In any event - glad I wore sneakers and not flip flops as I saw on other tourists. As we made our way back through the jungle, you could feel the temperature rising (good thing we were at the end of this part of the tour). We boarded the boat and quickly made our way towards the pier. We stopped in a small village where folks could buy trinkets, drinks, food and use the restroom. I spent my time cleaning my sneakers as the caked with mud. George Town -- Trolley Tour: I booked this excursion as a starting point of where I wanted to go back and visit once the tour ended. Unfortunately, since we were in port on a Sunday - 95% of port buildings/businesses were closed. Costa Maya -- Chaccoben Mayan Ruins: For me, this excursion never disappoints. Where else can you still visit a ruin - climb steps that are centuries old? Cozumel -- Jose Cuervo Tequila Tasting Experience: I do not like tequila - not sure why I booked this excursion, but I did. I found the tour guide and the experience learning how to taste tequila fun! OVERALL: I was pleasantly surprised with EPIC's crew and ship - despite it no longer ranking as one of NCL's newer ships in the fleet. I was pampered and so relaxed that I never got board or felt that the cruise dragged on longer than it needed to be. I can't wait to book another NCL cruise (Haven if I can manage) - it just won't be Haven Spa suite. Read Less

This was our second voyage on the Epic, it isn't may favorite ship but hey I was on a cruise so nothing to complain about. The thing I don't like about the Epic is the location of the casino and the smoky air. I wish cruise ships would put smokers in a glass room. I have breathing issues and it really bothers me. I don't understand why cruise companies would ruin their ships with smoke. We had a great time overall though. It was our first 10 day cruise (other cruises have been 7 days) and it was fantastic. Didn't get to stop at Great Stirrup Cay, was looking forward to exploring the other side of the island that we didn't get to when we were there the first time, but we got an extra sea day which are my favorite. We did however go to Harvest Caye the other private island and boy is it beautiful island. We also stopped at Ocho Rios, Jamaica, George Town, Cayman Islands, Costa Maya and Cozumel. I love cruising in the Caribbean but I am getting tired of the same ole stops. I really wish they would add new stops to the itineraries. Read Less

This was our third cruise on Epic and we’re planning another for early 2019. In order to maximize our experience on any NCL ship of this size or larger, we choose a Haven stateroom; by staying in the Haven, we reduce a mega ship into a mini ship but still have access to all that a megaship has to offer. Must commend our Butler Jensen, Room Steward Bianca, bar tenders JP, Norman, and George; they all were spectacular and a credit to NCL. This was a “port-intensive” itinerary and left no time for boredom! Fabulous ports, easy disembarkation, and excursions that didn’t disappoint! On -board entertainment was plentiful and we thoroughly enjoyed Priscilla, Cirque, and Burn the Floor. We had loads of fun, and a wee bit of luck, in the casino with friendly Dealers and some cooperation from the slots. The night we chose to participate in Howl at the Moon was a drag-half empty and not much energy. The guy and gal at the pianos wanted pay-to-play your request and if they didn’t know your song, they just pocketed the cash and threw away the request. We contributed $11 to NOT hear our songs. We didn’t hang around but about 40 minutes. We dined in the traditionally fine Haven restaurant, Cagneys, LeBistro, and LaCucina. All were excellent except LaCucina which was horrible this evening. I felt sorry for the waitperson because he really tried hard, was attentive, and efficient but the food was gross. We were traveling with our adult son and daughter-in-law so had a Family Villa and the two bedroom/two bathroom setup made the entire voyage comfortable and enjoyable giving all private space and room to hang out together as well. All-in-all, this ship, accommodations, service, and itinerary made for an excellent vacation. Read Less

First time I cruised on Epic (I have cruised 60 times) I hated the ship. We went transatlantic and the ship didn't seem stable. We had an inside room which had beautiful but dark furniture, Getting the chance to sail with friends on the Epic again, I was very dubious about it but it was an 11 day Caribbean in November. To my surprise, no weighting of charges for a singles room, a big plus in my book. I had a gorgeous room with an oversize balcony. I found the boarding process fast and easy and lunch available. Dining whether in the Pub grill, speciality restaurants or whatever was good. You should read up on ships prior to boarding as I booked shows and restaurants and had no problems. My only disappointment was the show "Priscilla". My friends had seen it before and said it was great and although I consider myself broadminded wasn't prepared for that. Acting and costumes were gorgeous but story line - well …! I never rush to get ashore no matter where we are going. I go to breakfast instead then walk off or onto the tender with no trouble at all. I had an accident on the ship, an invalid scooter stopped dead in front of me and I fell and split my head open on the marble in the bar area and hurt my arm. Help was instant and I was whisked off to the Infirmary in a wheelchair in minutes. No charge from the ship. I smelled no funny smells and the carpets all seemed in good condition. There is an adults only pool in the rear of the ship which I used often. In general, nothing for me to complain about this cruise, most enjoyable. Read Less

Boyfriend’s mom booked cruise barely a week before we set sail. From booking to disembarkation, everything was out of this world! Food was phenomenal, customer service was outstanding! Not a single thing I could complain about and the family agrees! Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was consistently delicious and always different. Never had an issue with too many children although it was kid friendly. They had their own section as did the adults so crossing paths was never overwhelming or distracting. The on board shows were super entertaining and the main attraction cirque de solel precormanxe was insane! Unbelievable talent and poise from the performers with just the right amount of comic relief. Throw in a little audience participation and one of the best prepared meals we had on board and you have a night for success. Needless to say, we are planning next years Norwegian adventure already!
