Sail Date: Feb 2022

We set sail on the Escape on Feb. 12, 2022 and don’t get off until March 12, so this is a half time report. Embarkation was a breeze in Port Canaveral after we got the negative Covid test in the tent across from the ship. It took less than an hour from testing to boarding. There were only 1900 people on board so about half full. Service has been excellent from the cabin stewards to the top brass, everyone has been very welcoming. We seem to constantly be running into the General Manager, Rohinton (Ron), a really nice guy who is always doing everything he can to make our cruise(s) better. Praveen , the Executive Chef has been very visible in all the dining venues and always has time to chat about the various menus. Other executives we keep bumping into, Elena the restaurant manager, Yusuf, Food and Beverage Director, Mohammad the Executive Sous Chef are always smiling and encouraging our suggestions and comments. Ferdi, the Cruise Director is a lot of fun and goes out of his way to hep with anything he can.

In over 20 NCL cruises, this has been the best. We have a balcony cabin and love the extra space (we always do inside cabins). We had the dining package for 2 weeks so we tried Bayamo and Cagney’s for the first times. It won’t be the last. We always do Le Bistro and Moderno with our Sapphire Latitudes status. All 4 specialty restaurants we have done have been exceptional, better for food quality and service than anywhere we have eaten on land. We eat on the Waterfront any time we can and the view can’t be beat. What a great idea, NCL.

We have been getting wine and strawberries, canapes, chocolate delivered to our cabin almost nightly, maybe because we are on for 4 weeks. Some standouts, the singing muffin girls in the Garden Buffet in the morning. They also work in Bayamo and remembered our names after our first visit. They remembered that my wife liked the caramelized popcorn that came with her dessert and sent a plateful to my wife the next night. That was very thoughtful, and they are always so cheerful and efficient.
