You can definitely not see enough of Rome in one day! I wish it would have been an overnight port. We chose to see the Colosseum and spent most of our time there. We did the hop on hop off bus, which was a little bit confusing there, but Rome is just a must see and I need to spend more time there. Colosseum was INCREDIBLE! So much history and beauty everywhere! The port is about 2 hours ...

It was easy to get to the train to Rome from the port if you were prepared (which I was). I bought a ticket online that included the shuttle bus and train ride. However, space on the train was tight from all of us cruise passengers traveling to Rome and locals. If holding your own luggage bothers you, consider a different mode of transportation.
