We have been there before. Did our own thing this time. Tried to take the elevator to Castell de la Santa Barbara, but there was a queue several hundred meters long so we opted for a hop-on hop-off bus (which no longer goes up to the Castell) and spent the day exploring and visiting the Alicante Markets. From the boat, this place looks like an industrial port, but it really is worth seeing. Read Less

Free shuttle bus off the pier! Santa Barbara Castle--take the elevator-beautiful views from the top, interestings areas to walk through, small snack shop. Lovely Basilica and other churches--attended mass there. Stop and enjoy tapas and drinks at D'Tablas-it probably will be crowded, but a different kind of experience. There is a beach by the port. I went swimming and it is very neat to be floating on your back in the Mediterranian Sea and looking up at the imposing Santa Barbara Castle. Read Less
