We has been cruise for more than 10 times in difference cruise lines, this is our first long Transatlantic cruise, 26 days, from Miami to Venice. On this cruise, everything's meet the standards of the other cruise lines (not the exclusive cruise lines). We are very easy going couple, we are not picky. But in this cruise, for 26 days we had a lot of times to talk to the other passengers and every ...
There was a drill for the crew when we came aboard and all the elevators were unavailable. Neither of us handle stairs very well and if we had to climb more than two decks we wouldn't have been able to do it. The Greenhouse Spa was wonderful. I can't believe that sleep is possible in concrete and tile lounges but somehow I only managed 2 or 3 pages in my book before I zonked out. The therapy pool ...
Our first transatlantic cruise - greatly enjoyed the six days' crossing, which were relaxing and allowed us to get our body clocks on Europe time. The ship had just come from refurbishing and was pristine. Food was excellent, service excellent for the most part, entertainment so-so with some performances simply too loud for the theater or the club setting, and others not so great. Some of the ...
Having sailed on the Nieuw Amsterdam before, I was so disappointed in the entertainment. One night there was no show at all! The music was mostly Motown, not my favorite. The HAL Cats were missing. The ballroom dancing was not available some nights and the band had never played together before this cruise so it took too long between songs and they did not play long enough.
The staff were ...
We had a great time. There were amazingly calm seas. The dining room experience was good - they accommodated special (low sodium) diet issues and that was excellent. But the main dining room was often slow. So dinner took a couple of hours. The room stewards were wonderful. The room was always made up before we came back from breakfast. The Lido was great. My husband fell in love with the ...
This was another good cruise...our first TA and our 15th HAL cruise. The "dry-dock" continued right up to the last day when we left the ship in Venice. It was more nuisance that inconvenience but it would have been nice if they had completed the work before selling tickets on the next cruise.
The food was good, crew friendly & helpful, and the itinerary busy once we got to the ...
My wife and I did a 26 day cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam from Fort Lauderdale, Fl to Venice –- with 16 stops covering 7 countries. I have been on about 15 cruises covering many lines.
EMBARKATION – Second time I’ve boarded a HAL ship in Fort Lauderdale and fairly long procedure both times. Very poor boarding process compared to Port Canaveral. Overall Embarkation Grade: D
CONDITION ...
We took the TA on 4/8/15 after having been on 2 other HAL ships that definitely had staff issues and maintenance problems. We figured we'd give HAL one more chance and we are glad we did! The Nieuw Amsterdam was great! I have no complaints, but I do have some compliments. We ate in the MDR every night on the Open Seating plan. We never had to wait for a table once in the 2 weeks. The service ...
Was somewhat reluctant to take a transatlantic cruise due to my bouts with seasickness in the past. No issues on this cruise whatsoever, the seas were as smooth as silk.
The food in the main dining room was excellent. The menu options were somewhat more limited than usual, but the food was better than we have ever had on any cruise ship. We opted for anytime dining and was assigned a great ...
If I had only one word, "Amazing!"
We took a very early morning flight on March 21 to Ft. Lauderdale, as we wanted to have some flexibility in the event of flight delays, etc., so we arrived at FLL about 1015am that day, and got to our hotel, nth Marriott Harbor Beach, around 11am.
We needed a few things so rented a car via Hertz...but the parking attendants and Hertz had communications ...
