We went with some friends that had already booked this cruise. We did not explore Ft. Lauderdale. We did go to dinner the night before embarkation. The room was very nice. The balcony was a nice size. The ship was big. We prefer smaller ships but we enjoyed Freedom of the Seas. The food was excellent. Our wait staff in the Galileo main dining room table 252, Romero and Rashid were wonderful. They made sure that we did not leave hungry. The stateroom attendant, Sonya, was great. Loved her. Service over all was great. The entertainment was great. We loved the different tours on the ship. We enjoyed all of the ports. All the tour guides were very friendly and very informative of their country. We would go again. We booked another cruise of Freedom of the Seas to different locations. We did not travel with children. Disembarkation went very smooth. Read Less

We first sailed Freedom in 2006 during the first few weeks. She is still one of our favorite ships and is in great condition. We found her to be super clean, well maintained, and smooth sailing. Our wait staff, section leader, and maitre d was such a amazing team. Royal is known for their entertainment, and Freedom is no exception. The ice show is a must see. We actually got to do the backstage tour of Studio B this time and really enjoyed the information. Once Upon a Time is one of my favorite shows and this cast was awesome! We finally made it to the Lunch in the Main Dining Room. What a nice presentation of choices, the salad being my favorite. I think that little secret is getting out though. We will definitely dine there on the next ships as well. Abe Hughes was our cruise director and, again, did a fabulous job! The Freedom is a ship for all ages, she just needs a few water slides............ Read Less

The most disappointing RC cruise we’ve ever been on. The level of service, condition of the boat and food quality and delivery have reached the point of no return for us. There has been an apparent cut of staff and quality of goods to increase profitability that will only serve to eventually create more dissatisfied customers. The dining experience has become a follys. Staff cuts have eliminated timely service. Some nights no wine service. Some nights no glasses. Some meals served or waiting next to table while appetizers still not finished. You now have to order dessert at the same time as your meal so that it can be left on a cart and melt as you are eating. Coffee is never delivered or ordered until eating dessert. No one including Loyalty staff know how their benefits work. Different answers from all employees. They now have a 10/$75 drink plan which is great in concept except it is interpreted differently throughout the ship. Read Less

Freedom of the seas was a great cruise ship in its prime, but 12 years later it’s aging poorly. The ship is beautiful but not well maintained. Public restrooms didn’t work at times, smell of sewer threw out parts of the ship, 50% of arcade games didn’t work properly (lots of broken buttons). Some elevator buttons didn’t work. Railing on front of ship/helipad was tied together with rope, very wobbly. Service in main dinning room was extremely slow, waiter and assistant were not attentive. That being said the table next to us had a great waiter who was always around, they were eating dessert while we were getting our appetizer. It’s just the luck of the draw I guess. The cabin was clean and attendant was great. The only negative is the decor is outdated. Great twelve years ago but not so much now. Overall I will sail with Royal Caribbean again but will look at newer ships Read Less

Our friends chose the cruise to celebrate their anniversary (50 yrs) and invited anyone who wanted to go to join them. In the end there ended up being about 11 of us and we had a great time. The ship was well maintained and everyone was very friendly. It seemed that every time we got into the elevator, sat down to eat or even went to the casino or a show, we made new friends. Both the crew and passengers were friendly and helpful. We had an absolute wonderful time and we plan on doing it again! We stayed in room 9354, a Junior Suite, and it was wonderful. Although there were no extra perks like in the other Suite types, the extra room, walk-in closet and tub in the bathroom were very nice touches. Our room steward was wonderful and friendly. Although the food in the Windjammer was okay, we really enjoyed the food in the Main Dining Room. We ate in the Galileo dining room for dinner and enjoyed Leonardos for lunch on one day. We splurged on Chops one night and the food was delicious. We went to Giovanni's on Sunday for a Mystery Dinner theater. The food was very good there as well, although the Mystery Dinner theater could have been better. They needed to be more interactive with the guests for it to be entertaining. We had fun giving our money to the Cruise ship in the casino. (lol), Even though we didn't win, we enjoyed the slot machines and table games, On the last night, we went to the variety show and it was funny, Our favorite parts were the comedian, Ralph Morris and the cruise director, Abe. They had us in stitches! Although we weren't able to go to Grand Caymen, due to rough seas and the tender operation being cancelled, we did make it to Costa Maya and Cozumel. There were too many shop keepers hassling you to come look and buy their stuff, but Cozumel was great. We went to Chankanaab and had a wonderful time. Highly recommend it! Read Less

I totally enjoyed myself on the Freedom of the Sea cruise out of Fort Lauderdale, it was a six day cruise. The bar staff were so much fun and very attentive to your every need, they were friendly and enjoy telling stories of were they came from. I was very entertained and had fun with them and the band played great and kept you entertained all day long. Stayed by the pool most of the time because of the entertainment and music. I enjoyed the two ports of Costa Maya and Cozumel but out of three ports wished we had made it to Grand Cayman it would have been nice to go on that island. Got the chance to see people swim with the dolphins and great statues and entertainment with the locals and the myans ruins, and had a ball taking pictures in the lighthouse. I would recommend this western cruise to everyone. Read Less

We booked this cruise because we have been on the Freedom before a enjoyed the ship. We liked that it had a port we hadn't been too yet and was only 6 nights. The ship is in need of a face lift. The room was tired, it smelt musty. The carpets were worn or stained and the ship as a whole seemed tired. The waitstaff was awesome and the food was average in main dinning and windjammer but the specialty restaurants killed it both with service and quality of food. We missed the Grand Cayman due to high seas, the tender was not running. The Costa Maya jeep tour was an adventure, the jeeps were rough. every light on the dash was on, the tires were bald and it rattled like the front end was going to fall out from underneath it at any minute, an adventure. The off-roading was really just dirt roads with pot holes you had to slow down for because we were encouraged NOT to get the jeeps wet or they would stall. The beach was a nice quite spot with chairs but did not have enough chairs for the 2 excursions that were there at the same time. Cozumel was the same as always. We hit Mr. Sancho's for a great beach experience and then stopped at Senior Frogs on the way back to the ship. We took advantage of the Royal Caribbean discounts to pick up a couple rings. Effy was great to deal with, they did not have my size and could not size the ring I wanted so they ordered it and had it shipped to my house at no extra charge. The port terminal was great boarding and disembarking, easy in easy out, Read Less

We were part of a bigger group of like-minded people on the Freedom of the Seas, so the itinerary was secondary. Weather and waves prevented us from visiting one of the 3 stops, which was disappointing, but these things happen and you just accept it. I have traveled all over the world and cruised over 10 times, so I hope my info is helpful. Kudos to: Sabor, the Mexican specialty restaurant, which served the best Mexican food we have ever had anywhere. Period. Too much to describe. Giovanni's food was great, too. Not that impressed with the Chops Grill. Was happy we had prepaid for the 3-night specialty restaurant package. The Windjammer breakfasts were awesome. Never ate in the main dining room for breakfast. Food selection everywhere was amazingly good. The Boleros bar had a good selection of tequilas, which is all we drink. Spa treatments were both top notch. Ship was clean everywhere. We had a great cabin steward whose twice-daily service to our junior suite was wonderful. The junior suite was worth the extra money, even on a cruise this short. We are thinking about going on the Allure over New Year's 2018-2019 and it was good to see RCCL is still a decent cruise line. Disappointments - Not having a second bottle of anejo tequila on the entire ship. Paying for the premium drinks package because Evian water was included in it and then having virtually nowhere on the ship to get it. Having a $7 surcharge to go to the burger bar, Johnny Rockets. (Small wonder it was deserted.) Same with charging for room service. Never been on a ship before which charged for it. Taking my power strip for "safety" reasons. Of course missing one of the port stops was a sad thing. Read Less
