We had essentially the same itinerary in March 2015 on the Ryndam prior to her transfer to P&O Australia. We opted for the same trip on the Oosterdam with Mahogany Bay taking the place of Banana Coast Honduras.
As always, the service in the main dining room and the attentiveness of our cabin stewards were exemplary. A special dietary need, which we arranged for at the time of booking, was ...
We chose this particular itinerary because we had not been to Guatemala before. Roatan is always beautiful as well as Costa Maya. The first port was in Key West, and because we were very familiar with the area, we chose not to get off the ship there. We enjoyed the many things the Oosterdam had to offer. Next, we were on to Roatan, one of my favorite ports. The place is so clean and pretty and the ...
We sailed out of Tampa, Florida on December 9th headed for a seven-day cruise to the western Caribbean. Embarkation was really smooth at this port and with Holland America. We had a beautiful balcony cabin on Deck 8, the Navigation Deck. Love the balcony as we enjoyed many views during the day and a beautiful full moon at night. The cabin was in a great location. It was located in the aft ...
This was our longest cruise and we upgraded to a Neptune Suite
A big mistake, service was bad, food was bad, the employees attitudes were bad
Was like we were a burden to them
more to come later, but we wanted folks to know of this and we were not alone, a lot and we mean a lot of folks were very unhappy
the dinner in the dining room were things you did not want to eat and food on the ...
Having cruised on Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and Princess Cruise Lines, my Husband and I decided to try Holland America. Big mistake and one that will not be repeated. We were celebrating my Husband's 75th Birthday and our 30th Anniversary.
Embarkation - This was a three ring circus. People being herded here and there and not being told what was happening.
Cabin - Neptune 4180 - By far ...
We chose this cruise because of the itinerary, it was 14 nights NOT B2B, sailed from Tampa, FL (we drive from Atlanta, GA) and the Oosterdam had just undergone drydock upgrades. Hollands prices are good, service is very good, and size of the ship is not overwhelming.
Overall this was a great cruise. We selected (not assigned) cabin V 8032, which is an accessible room. It had more room than ...
Living in St Petersburg, Tampa is our home port, just 45 minutes from home to terminal 3 where the Oosterdam was docked. I have cruised from Tampa before, as my first ever cruise was 28 years ago on the Veracruz, a 10,000 ton ship that did a 2 night cruise to nowhere. We had a wonderful time on it despite a tiny inside room with no frills what so ever. I think it was $119 each.
Having ...
Over the past 12 years we have sailed many times on a variety of HAL ships. It's 2 years since our last cruise with them and we noted that changes are still happening- some better for the guest and some for efficiency and the bottom line
We realize that cruise lines cannot please all the people all the time but HAL does please us most of the time.
We are active seniors and appreciate the ...
We like Holland America because it fits our life style (we're both retired, in our mid 60's). We chose this 21 day cruise because it visited several ports we had not been to before. The ship had just arrived from Europe for the start of the Caribbean season and there had been an outbreak Norovirus on board. This delayed the embarkation process by several hours as the crew did an extra special job ...
We have been sailing with HAL since 2004, are 3-star mariners, and probably in the group often referred to here as the "cheerleaders." That being said, if this was my first voyage with Holland America, it would probably be my last.
Embarkation
This sailing was the first of the season in the Caribbean, and the ship had been swept with Noro virus on the Atlantic crossing. This wasn't our ...
