Ship needs refurbishment badly. Rips, tears and holes in furniture throughout. Stained, dirty upholstery. Ripped, stained, faded flooring throughout. Chipped and peeling paint throughout. Broken window in the Silver dining room. Decor is very old, odd colors, strange designs. Water shut off during lunch hours two days into the trip for floors 8&9. 9 is Lido, the buffet. Sewer problem 1st floor. Oceanview rooms are on floors 1 & 2. Staff party hard with loud, thumping music, yelling and cheering until the wee hours 1am, 2:30 am. Their game room is mid ship, floor zero. So if you have a midship Oceanview room, good luck getting any sleep. Had to complain several times. Customer service is poor and many of them are seen walking around doing nothing or cutting up. A select few staff tried really hard to correct what the others lacked. Breakfast service and evening dining service in the Silver dining room was enjoyable. Staff were efficient. They could do without showtime because it just interrupts the dinner experience. They could really do away with elegant night. Not many people dress up anymore because most people vacation to relax. Pool areas were relatively clean. Photographers are pushy especially in the walkway on the 5th floor next to the casino. I felt like we were in Nassau being harassed to take photos. We didn’t care to have a photographer walking around the dining room trying to take pictures while we were attempting to eat. Lido buffet was always organized and clean. Food was good. Except for the barbecue upstairs. It was terrible-dry, greasy, overcooked. Overall the ship is ok. The staff needs to be trained in customer service. She ship needs the 2.0 upgrade and dry dock overhall. Read Less

For the ports visited that we wanted to go to and living in the midwest, Orlando was not too awfully far to go. Our embarkation was the fastest and smoothest we have ever had in my 19 cruises. This is due to the workings of the Orlando port. Our cabin was an inside which is what we always get. Our dining was always at the main dining room, and it left a lot to be desired. It was the worst dining I ever had on any ship. Food was very overcooked, desserts like creme brule' was super sweet and grainy tasting. We did not eat in any of the specialty restaurants. a We were disappointed in the entertainment aspect as the main room show was a did, and when we went to the piano bar, there was no piano player. We did not travel with children. We will not cruise on the Breeze again. We did not have a meet and mingle because not enough signed up for it. Read Less

We are a family of four from Montreal, Canada, who cruise extensively. We have 9 previous cruises with Carnival, 22 overall. This trip was supposed to be husband, wife, and son only, but my daughter’s school trip to Europe was cancelled at the very last minute due to “the virus that shall not be named”, so we had to scramble to book her to travel with us. We got absolutely killed on airfare, but Carnival (kudos to them) were very reasonable about changing our booking from a triple to a quad cabin. The fourth passenger’s fare was only slightly more than my son’s, and we upgraded from a porthole to a large outside cabin. Good on them. EMBARKATION: We had Faster to the Fun, so we basically walked onboard at 11am. No delays whatsoever. There is one major flaw to this system, however: there is no counter stop in the boarding process anymore to attach our credit card to the ship-board account. The result was: charges were being declined soon after we sailed. The lineup at guest services was an hour long, with everyone trying to fix this issue. One employee in the terminal could have saved many passengers a lot of trouble: “Is your credit card attached to your account? No? Over here, please.” Faster to the Fun allowed me to skip the line and use the Platinum/Diamond line, so that alone was worth the cost. Waited 10 minutes max and credit was established. Our cabin was ready right away, and keycards were in the mailbox, but no luggage was to be seen. It was supposed to be there already, due to FTTF. Luggage arrived later, after Muster drill. CABIN: We had a large outside cabin, which featured two bathrooms, but only one toilet. Cabin was initially very clean, and we only had it made up once a day, so everything was as expected. TV remote didn’t work properly all cruise. We showed it to our steward, but it decided to work whenever we showed it to him. Then malfunction later on. There was only one news channel, and the news was looped and cut for time. I did manage to locate an audio output on the back of the tv to connect headphones (great for watching TV and not disturbing others who might be sleeping). The fridge worked, sort of…. I propped the cabinet door open but the fridge didn’t work any better. Mattresses on the beds were old, lumpy and uncomfortable. FOOD: This is very subjective, but this was our 9th cruise with Carnival over the years, and every passing year the quality seems to decline, particularly at the Lido lunch buffet. There were perhaps four meat choices, including one carvery choice. Carnival “used to” have the best lunch options at sea, remembering back to our cruises on Dream and Freedom. Not any more. Guy’s Burgers was ok… I found it a bit dry. Mongolian Wok was excellent, as usual. We also ate at the Seafood Shack (snow crab), Italian restaurant and steakhouse, all of which were excellent. We had Your Time Dining, and because we ate late (8:30-9pm) we never had to wait for a table. In fact, the room was nearly empty. The dining room menu had the usual hit-or-miss fare. Prime rib, filet mignon and lobster were good, most chicken dishes were dry/overcooked/kept warm, and the rest was so uninspired I have already forgotten it. Service teams ran the gamut from excellent to downright surly. Room service took about 30 minutes, and the food was ok, I expected better since there is a charge per item now. My wife was looking forward to the dessert offerings and was generally disappointed. She found the cakes lacked sweetness. One night in the Bliss dining room, the accent lighting was blue, which made the food on our plates look absolutely disgusting. Fix this, Carnival! No blue lighting in the dining room. I also found that many Lido buffet servers just stood around, until elbowed by a supervisor to wake up – customer is waiting…. Also, food counter closing times, as announced in the Fun Times, seemed very arbitrary. Some counters closed on time, others were kept open late. No way of knowing in advance. DRINKS AND BAR SERVICE: Drinks were consistently mixed and had a decent amount of alcohol. Service was good, with one exception: during one comedy show in the Limelight Lounge, the floor waiters were short-staffed, and the second waitress (Alejandra, in her infinite wisdom) decided to follow the same route as the other waitress, leaving half the room un-served. I actually got up and asked her to serve our side of the room, but she ignored me. I know she heard me. No drinks were sold in our half of the room that night, and many were not happy. Profits lost, Carnival! Train your staff! ENTERTAINMENT: Cruise director was very good at his job, keeping everyone entertained. Production shows were spotty: some singers were excellent, some were WAY off pitch, and no falsetto voice for the Michael Jackson songs??? Special effects and lighting were very good. Soundtrack was pre-recorded. One thing of note: This ship had the most clueless, abysmal DJs of any ship I have ever been on. The same 12 songs played over and over again. AC-DC and Rob Base seemed to rule, with Run DMC (It’s Tricky) thrown in ad nauseum. The 80’s party had the absolute worst song choices…. and Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock (It Takes Two To Play This Song So Much – and there were indeed TWO most awful DJs on this cruise) cleared the dance floor completely. Good job, Mr. DJ! (perhaps you should stick to reggae… just sayin’). On a positive note, the Quest show was hilarious, and the comedians were mostly very good (again, subjective). Some very ill-bred passengers, of which there were many on this sailing, kept a screaming baby in the lounge for the entire comedy show, and a fistfight almost broke out after the show. Some people have no class whatsoever. Take your child and step outside…. PLEASE! The comedian kept his composure throughout the distraction, to his immense credit. No staff member did step in, though. Afraid… I guess. One piece of advice for those wanting to attend the comedy shows: get there 45 minutes early or you will have to stand. DEBARKATION: An absolute cluster-(you know what) with people blocking the way with later assigned times, waiting to jump first in line. No staff to guide us. Elevators jammed. People exited elevators and jumped a very long line. So we waited an eternity. Once past the card scan, we flowed smoothly, and were outside in minutes with our luggage. CONCLUSION: The itinerary was very good if you like nice beaches. This was a very ordinary cruise, where the only things that truly stood out cost extra. Food was a complete disappointment. We will try another line for our next cruise. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the ports and mid winter break. The disembarkation at the ports was excellent. That could not be said for the end of the cruise at Port Canaveral. Apparently there were issues with the gangplank having to be reset. After cruising on the Spirit, the Sunshine and the Paradise I would say this one fell short in both the food choice & preparation in the lido buffet, the cabin service and the dinning room service. We had a terrific time and enjoyed ourselves despite the slamming cabin doors, the marijuana wafting over our balcony, not meeting our cabin stew or being asked about cabin service preferences for am or pm, forgotten dinning room main orders and missing after dinner coffees. Compared to the outstanding service on the Paradise these made the cruise lack luster. I thought the CD was very good. We didn't see any shows but did go to the comedy club and the marriage game.. Arriving 30 minutes before any show is a necessity as seating fills fast. Read Less

Love Guys burgers, Mexican and the pizza. The ship was very clean, the Crew are amazing. Always smiling and offering a hello or help with whatever you asked for. The boat was very clean and the crew worked hard to ensure it stayed that way. It was an amazing trip! We did the BOSS underwater in St Thomas. It was so amazing. I would give it 100 stars! Only down side was the rain on the 2nd day, but they can’t help that. Also, we lost use of the TV for the last whole day which was disappointing since it was cold and rainy outside. We talked instead! Something we almost forgot to do! Overall. Fantastic trip! Read Less

Everyone of the ship bend over backwards just to back just YOU are comfortable and having a good time. Anything you could think of.... is there. You can or ANYTHING or NOTHING at all.. 24 hours a day. We laughed till our cheeks hurt at the comedy shows; we sang along to the of amazing shows they preformed; ate till we couldnt see color anymore; took naps; enjoyed the spa amenities and 21+ deck; went down the water slides; watched movies on the top deck while being served pin a coladas; room service 24/7; you name it.. they had it. What made our trip even more memorable was our room stewart named Eddie and the bartender name Jerome. Read Less

My husband and I have done many cruises and this was our third carnival cruise. The food was awful and cold breakfast and dinner regardless of eating at the tiny buffet or dining room. It seemed like there wasn't enough crew to take care of the guests on board. The ladies room on the pool deck only had two stalls and one was broken from the moment we got on board. The pool was rusted and not pretty to look at. The ship is going to dry dock 23 days after our cruise and the attitude for the crew on board matched. They ran out of miller lite/bud lite on the last night of the cruise and my husband was very upset after paying for the cheers package these are the only beers he drinks. Also, they started packing up (shrink wrapping) chairs on the last full day made us feel not welcomed (serenity deck). The only plus was the burgers and fries which is only open for lunch. Read Less

We planned a 5 day trip to Disney and decided to take a cruise. Family of 5. My husband 40, myself 40, daughter 19, son 14, and youngest daughter 8. I had no preconceived thoughts. My first cruise. I would have rather just take the money spent on this cause and booked a week long vacation at Destin, FL. The room was spacious and it accommodated us just fine. We really enjoyed our private balcony. However, it was not clean. The bathroom smelled of urine/sewage and was hard to stomach. The water was yellow that came out of the faucet. The boat was extremely rocky but I realized I was in the middle of the ocean. I felt there were surprise charges that were not properly explained. We paid them because, it is what it is. The formal dinner was a joke. The only thing I loved food wise would be Guy burgers...yum. Hong was an awesome server! He appeared everywhere. The room service food was gross. Nassau was trashy. We could not afford anything excursion at the ports. Freeport was better with a cute shopping area at port. You can not walk to or see the ocean unless you taxi out of the gates fenced port area. Again we could not afford an excursion. Let some 2 for 5 people. I was shocked at how raggedy the boat looked. Read Less

We choose this cruise because it was an affordable quick getaway. Have been on the same RC ships several times and we wanted to be on a ship that was new to us. Carnival had a cruise that met our needs so we booked it. We had been given a boarding time of 12:30pm because we had booked the cruise so late but when we arrived at 10:45am, we were allowed to board almost immediately. The buffet was set up already and the food was excellent. There was a huge array to pick from and everything was delicious. We ate and wandered around the ship to explore it. The ship was in average condition but it is very old so we expected this. The lobby was beautiful and the whole ship is decorated in French design and it was lovely. Our cabin was perfect and we had plenty of room and plenty of storage. The sink in the bathroom did not drain properly so we had to be mindful of this. The shower also did not drain properly. We ended up using our body towels on the floor after drying our bodies. They were needed to absorb the water that was on the floor after each shower. Our room steward was always kind and remembered our names each time he saw us. He had the cutest towel animals for us every night. Our cabin was spotless and I only wish I could remember how to spell his name. We were in room 6262. Be aware that this room is next to the storage area so there is occasional noise. We also could hear some of the lobby entertainment in our room at night but it did not last late into the night so it was ok. We ate at the buffet every night to give us more evening time. The buffet always served what was offered in the dining room so it was basically the same meals. We tried Guy's Burgers one afternoon and it was amazing. I thought it looked greasy and the fries looked too well done BUT that was wrong. The burger was not greasy and the fries were delicious too. I would recommend trying it. We did not do any excursions because we have been to the Bahamas several times already. We did get off the boat in Nassau and did a little bit of shopping. The lobby entertainment was great. Lots of different types of trivia in the afternoons and Lizzy did a great job of keeping us amused. She even took the time to talk to us afterward and what a lovely person she is. Rico Suave was also lots of fun. He took over the trivia one of the days we were there for some fun. I only used the pool once. The water was very cold and smelled strongly of chlorine. I expected it to be cold due to it being February. MarcQ is a wonderful cruise director. I am impressed that I could actually understand everything that was said over the speakers no matter where I was. This is the first time I have been able to understand what was being said whether I was in my cabin or on the deck. He is funny and very personable, which is not what we have found in a cruise director in the past. I wish all cruise directors were like him. We loved being at the Versailles Adult Area and service there was wonderful. Special shout out to Danilo at the bar. No matter how busy he was, he always found time to make sure you were taken care of and was pleasant and funny. He answered all our questions and was right to suggest the drink package to us. We looked forward to seeing him every day. Another shout out to the men who dished out the pizza in this same adult area. They were always busy and always served with a smile. Wonderful hard workers. I didn't think I could sit thru another Love & Marriage show on another cruise but I'm so glad we went to see it on this cruise. MarcQ was hilarious and we laughed the whole time. My husband used the spa twice and said it was amazing. He had gotten on the ship with some lower back pain and once he had a massage onboard, he was pain free. Great service at the spa. I would definitely go on another cruise on Liberty. Everyone on the ship was kind and helpful. Another surprise was that all the guests seemed happy. It was nice to have everyone always saying good morning and smiling at each other. I believe the guests were happy because of the wonderful service that was given on this ship. Read Less

Overall I enjoyed this cruise experience. Some things I really enjoyed about the Carnival Liberty were: 1) The inside stateroom (8250) was plenty roomy enough and everything worked as it should. Some newer ships have much smaller inside rooms, but on the Liberty it was a perfect size. Not cramped for 2 adults. I also like that you can order a 12 pack of water prior to the cruise for a reasonable price and it is delivered to your stateroom. Other cruise lines rip you off for water, but carnival keeps the price fair. Our stateroom steward Pedro did an excellent job and was always cheerful. Really enjoyed having him take care of us! 2) This ship is very accessible for general cruisers, and by that I mean there are not a lot of areas reserved for guests who pay more. Some cruise ships I've been on feel like half of the top decks are reserved for people who pay extra, but not the liberty. You feel like everyone is treated the same with the same access to facilities. Very nice for someone like me who likes to keep things affordable. Space was never an issue. I never had a hard time finding space on the pool deck to sit down. Some of the hot tubes would get busy during the afternoon (especially since the main pools were too cold for most people to use in February). Same with the buffet area, I never had trouble finding a space to sit. I noticed on the Liberty they had a few extra buffet areas than on the sister ship Victory I've been on, and it is a better use of space and people spread out more. I enjoyed the extra buffet stations on the Liberty. 3) The cruise ship didn't stick of cigarette smoke with the exception of the casino. I've been on some NCL ships where most of the inside stunk of smoke, but the carnival does a much better job of keeping the smoke isolated to the casino deck. There is also a side of the ship where people can smoke outside, but as long as you avoid this you really don't notice it. Anytime I was at the pool decks (aft or mid) I never smelt smoke. I really appreciated this. 4) There was a variety of entertainment and was pretty easy to find something to enjoy. I really enjoyed the comedy of Vince Morris. This guy had skill and was very funny! I would watch him again. The other comedian, PJ Walsh, wasn't my style of comedy. The outdoor theater had a variety of new released movies which was nice. I got to watch Aladdin, Joker, Ford vs. Ferrari, and several others. I enjoyed this at night. My dad went to one of the broadway style shows featuring a laser light show and he enjoyed it. It wasn't advertised as having the laser show, so I didn't go, but after I found out about it I wish I had gone (it was advertised as bringing the silver screen to life through motion pictures (Flick)). 5) Some of the food was nice. I enjoyed Guy's burger joint, the pizza pirate shack, and the BBQ station above the buffet. For the sit down restaurant some of the food was good, and some was just average. 6) There were plenty of places to look overboard the ship from the outside. Some newer ships make it very hard to find a place to look out into the ocean, but this ship has plenty of space. 7) Our cruise director MarQ was amazing! I've had some mediocre cruise directors and some good ones, but MarQ was great. He had a good personality and was always very funny. When he hosted the 'newlywed game' he was amazing and it make it so funny! I actually enjoyed listening to his on-ship announcements. Excellent job! 8) The fitness area was good for me. It had everything I wanted (exercise bike and free weights). It also had free access to a sauna and steam room which was nice to see. It is a little hard to find because it's hidden behind the SPA (in the front of the ship). Some things I did NOT like: 1) We booked pretty late and did not have a choice of dinning times. My dad (senior citizen) and I wanted the early dinning time of 6pm because he has trouble staying up late and the 8:15pm dinning time wasn't good for him. He would not join me for the 8:15pm time and would only go to the buffet early, so we called a few days before printing boarding passes and they said they couldn't change it. On board the ship we asked various dinning room maitre de no less than 7 times over the course of two days and finally were able to get it changed. On the first night they didn't allow us to change but put us on a wait list. Thankfully we were able to dine early at the anytime dinning restaurant (golden restaurant). We went at the start (5:45pm) and there was plenty of room, but they would not let us do this again the next night so we had to go back to the other resturant (silver resturant) and ask again. On the second day we tried calling guest services to see if they could help, but they were not able to get a change. On the second dinning night we went at 6pm and waited for everyone to be seated to see if there was room. They let us in and sat us at the smallest table that sat 4 people and we were going to have dinner with 2 others. Thank goodness the other 2 didn't show up, because we were packed in tight! In fact, there were tons of large tables that were half full or completely empty. I don't like the way carnival reserves dinning rooms seating for people who *might* show up one or two nights out of the cruise. It really limits the availability for others who want to eat at a specific time. I MUCH prefer the way Norwegian does dinning where you just show up and get seated at a table. No reserved tables, no reserved times. Eventually we were moved to another private table for 2 and we kept this table for the rest of the cruise. It was a pain trying to get this change and wasted a lot of time and effort on our part. Neither of us enjoyed this aspect of the cruise. 2) Another aspect of the sit down dinning we did not enjoy was that around the main meal but before desert they would come over the intercom and interrupt everyone's dinner with silly messages and then blast this terrible music for about 10 minutes and have staff running around the dinning room dancing on tables and trying to get the guests to get up and dance. Some people might enjoy this, some people might put up with this, but I really disliked this. I want to go to the sit down dinning room to have a quiet dinner with my family, have good conversation, relax and enjoy a good meal. They interrupted us EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. During these daily disruptions food was slow to arrive and the remainder of your meal usually came out not fresh. For these reasons I give the dining the lowest score. Some of the buffet stations were good along with the specialty stations, but most of the main buffet was just average buffet food. 3) By the end of the cruise most people sounded sick with coughs (more than half). This was right at the beginning of the virus panic and I made sure to always wash my hands and use the hand sanitizer, but near the end of the 3rd day someone sneezed right on me. I would not recommend crusing during cold / flu season. That was a mistake we made. I caught a bad cold from someone on board and my dad caught it from me. Doesn't help that the first day they cram everyone into a small space for the lifejacket drill where you are literally touching everyone around you because they cram you in so tight. This was a bad end to our curise and I didn't feel good for 1.5 days of the cruise. Bummer. That sums it up. I would go back on this ship if I can find a good deal, but I would probably look for another time instead of cold / flu season. Read Less

We were 1st time cruisers and chose this one because of the short length incase we didnt like it. We left 3 hours late from the port because the crew was still loading supplies. Then as we shoved off the was a medical emergency and had to go back. Then the boat couldn't get up to cruising speed and we were in rough waters. You felt every wave as we were only going 10-11 knots, we were told mechanical issues. The next day in the afternoon we were told we wouldn't be able to make Amber Cove so we would cruise to Grand Turk. The boat was barely moving, we were given 50 on board credit, which really means here is 50 bucks to spend on overpriced drinks or in the Casino. Either way you are spending it on the ship or you dont get it. We made it to Grand Turk and had a fabulous day. Its breathtaking there. The food isn't that great, unless you have a burger at Guys. The formal dinner was ok. The boat itself.is very old. A lot of rust on exterior. The interior needs a major update. Elevators were often not working or out of service. Staff was friendly. Overall is was disappointing for 1st time cruising. All my friends that go on a cruise tell me that we shouldn't give up cruising, just dont use carnival. Read Less

Let me first start off by saying we departed the port 3hrs late!!! I already had reservations when arriving at the port because the boat was smaller and looked older. The boat’s stops were Amber Cove and Grand Turk. As we were attempting to leave the port someone had a medical emergency (I had no problem with that but will explain my frustration). We set sail on Sat and were at sea on Sun. Saturday and Sunday the boat was very rocky. There were alot of people becoming ill because of it, me being one of them. I even had sea bands on and I still was ill. We were told middle of the day that our 1st stop to Amber Cove was not going to happen. The reason being 1) We were delayed leaving the port by 3 hrs 2) they stated the boat was having mechanical issues which resulted in the boat not reaching optimum speed and 3)they mentioned that when we left the port there was a medical emergency and they had to turn around to let the passengers off(which I felt that didn’t have a huge factor in the delay because when it happened we were floating away from the dock to pull off so there was no turning around because we didnt get anywhere). We were suppose to spend a whole day at Amber Cove So not only is this boat constantly rocking but now we’re not going to Amber Cove(which I was excited about). We were only given a credit of $50. Everyone on the boat I had interactions with were pissed even myself because we all felt like more should have been refunded more than $50. So now we are having to spend another day on the “rocky boat”. My personal opinion I feel like they knew before we got on the boat that they were having issues. On a lighter note though the dining staff were PHENOMENAL!!! Wilfredo and Chui were amazing! Even down to our room attendant Made. You could tell the staff were genuine. They were always smiling, friendly and personable. You could tell they were all about their guests and wanted us to enjoy our vacation. The boat is being dry docked to have work done and hopefully when that’s done the experience will be better for future cruisers. By the way Grand Turk was beautiful with pretty clear waters. It was very relaxing. I did not do any excursions but heard nothing but great things. Read Less

We selected this cruise so that we could revisit Cozumel, Belize and Roatan. The Breeze was resently refurbised and the decor was far nicer that any Carnival ship that we have been on. It had muted and tasteful colors which is a departure from their usual scheme. The food was also far better than we've previously experienced. We were pleased with all of our meals and service. Instead of the standard early or late seating, we chose Your Time dining. We would reserve on the App and our table was ready by the time we went downstairs to the restaurant. Our balcony room as spacious and very nice. We are normally very happy with the evening entertainment but this particular cast was subpar. There was only one female vocalist that was on pitch. The dancing was fine. We also enjoyed a violin trio that played covers of popular songs and movie themes. One night we listened to the 88 Keys program and it was awful. The warm up entertainer could not sing or play and we were actually embarrassed for him. The main act that followed was silly and we left. The Beginner Scuba on Cozumel excursion was fantastic. It also counted toward PADI certification. I was thrilled with it. Mahogany Bay beach on Roatan was riduculously overcrowded and we ended up leaving. The snorkeling excursion in Belize was a fantastic water experiece but it was 4.5 hours on a boat with no toilet facilities or shade in the 95 degree heat. The snorkel sites were fantastic but it was an hour back and forth to it on a boat with no facilities. The only way into the water was to jump off the side which meant that my mother in law was stuck on the boat with no company or staff remaining behind. We used a simple gunwale swim ladder to board which was impossible for older participants. But all in all, this was the best Carnival ship that we've been on. To summarize our only complaints had to do with the live entertainment in the main theater and our snorkeling excursion. Read Less

Honestly i did not have a great experience which really saddens me because it was our first cruise and we were very excited for my boyfriends birthday. I paid a good bit of money to have the room decorated for his birthday the day we got on and have cookies and beer in the room. When we got there it was decorated but no cookies or beer, i then had to ruin the surprise of those items by calling guest services in front of him and asked where they were. They brought the cookies a little bit later. An hour later still no beer so i called again, the worker on the phone was very rude to me and said it was on the way. Then a worker showed up asking to remove the beer from the room? Obviously some confusion, eventually he went and found the beer, it was delivered to a wrong room, we went to put it in the fridge and our fridge didn't work. We then called and let them know the fridge didn't work so they brought us a small bucket of ice. For his birthday I also had it set up for them to sing happy birthday and bring out a piece of cake in the dining room on saturday night and they never did that either. It smelled very bad of sewage right in and outside of our room so that kind of was a bummer too. When i checked in online it asked if i wanted two twins or a king bed i said king but when we got there it was just two twins pushed together so every night one of us fell in between the beds onto a wooden plank and needed to push them back together. Not carnivals fault at all but the excursion we had scheduled in the bahamas got cancelled as well so it kind of just continued to feel like a downward slope of events. If it wasn't for our room steward Luis and director MarQ i would say i didn't like the entire cruise but they were awesome and really made everything else enjoyable. But i will say me and my boyfriend both are very reluctant to ever cruise again sadly. Read Less

We chose this cruise for our Anniversary since it left out of Port Canaveral. This is my third Carvnival cruise and have cruised on most other lines. We have been to the Bahamas but not overnight. The Liberty is a very nice ship. It was well decorated and did not appear to need updates as other reviews have noted. There was plenty of places to sit and relax. The pool area was laid out very nice with tiers and held lots of chairs. The only time it was overcrowded was during the sea day. We could not find a chair to sit, but found at least 100 empty chairs with blue towels with at least one person guarding entire empty rows. Although there was a sign not to reserve chairs, it was not enforced. They had a large movie screen over the pool with a good list of movies. The cruise is very nice for families with children. They have a Dr Seuss theme and it seemed like lots of activities for the kids. We did notice though the children tended to fill up the spas by the pool. But they have a very nice adults only section with two jacuzzis in the Aft of the ship. The food overall was better than most ships I have been on. We ate at Guys burgers and they had a Mongolian Wok that was open the first day and last day (it is not open all the time so go there when you see it open). The overall best meal went to Diamonds SteakHouse. We had Australian Wagyu and Surf and turf for only $38.00 each. This 5 course meal was better than most prime steakhouses I have been to. The service was excellent. Read Less

Mid winter 50 TH birthday cruise on the Carnival Elation, Some good, some bad and some real ugly. For the record this was my families 8 TH Carnival Cruise since 2013 and our 12 TH cruise overall. This ship is in desperate need of the dry dock scheduled for next month. I was surprised on how much rust was on the exterior of this ship but not all was bad. We had two rooms E-52 & E-56 and also we were with of group of 38 people in 14 different room, all of which I helped to book, all good friends on mid winter recess from New York State. This was the third cruise in three years that I've help book over 10 + rooms for our Mid Winter recess in February. We will start with the Good: The food, from the MDR (breakfast, dinner & sea day brunch) to Guy's Burgers as well as the Blue Iguana you can't go wrong. The Cruise Director Alex, outstanding job, He is full of energy. The Cowboy Comedian at Punchlines Comedy Club, one of the best I've seen !! Book him long term on all your ships !! The Cabin Stewards, absolute great job once they realized we were upgraded to there block of rooms that they were taken care of. The Itinerary, 5 night with port of calls to Amber Cove & Grand Turks. The Bad: The smaller size boat with less bells & whistles. Not having any additional for charge restaurant options on the cruise. (no steakhouse) Guest Services, no real managers, just a bunch of folks reading what the last representative wrote on the computer screen from previous visits to the guest service desk. Much smaller shopping area. Terribly small Serenity deck that had black soot from the smoke stake dropping on guest utilizing this area. The smell of sewer in hallways on all different decks during the 5 night cruise. The Ugly: The super strong smell of sewer that kept backing up into our stateroom cabin bath room vent and drains. This started right after the mustard drill and got progressively worse. We called and they sent a guest service representative to see for herself, she almost got sick. They said they would send someone to sanitize the bathroom and a plummer to hopefully fix the problem. Day number two this smell got even worse, Went to the guest service desk to complain and they said they will try to fix the problem again and I said that I would like there rooms manger to please come and see for him or herself. Then then admitted that this has been an ongoing problem with this room E-52 and wouldn't be able to fix this until it was in dry dock. They would need to move us to a lower floor, only room available was on the Riviera deck and give us a $200 we are sorry for the bad experience in on board nonrefundable credit. Which we were OK with but it meant leaving our 17 year old son and 18 year old nephew alone three floors up. We trust them so we accepted the move to the Riviera deck R-195 and to be away from that horrid smell. Next comes the ugly, the next day a different customer service representative called to ask if we were satisfied with the way things were handled, We told them that we are still upset and that we do not see the on board credit to our account. The women who was speaking to my wife on the cabin phone stated that it wasn't Carnival's policy to move rooms and give on board money credit, she told my wife that she must be making this all up. My wife was livid being basically called a lair by this representative. We have now wasted over 4 hours dealing with this situation and moving rooms. When it was all said and done we were given the on board credit because the manger who was helping us failed to write this up correctly on there guest services computer. No apologies were offered by the representative for her bad choice of not being a not so good guest relations employee by saying my wife was wrong. If they would've communicated correctly they could've avoided making a bad situation even worse. I felt we were very reasonable and just wanted to be dealt with professionally. I hope someone from cooperate Carnival reaches out to us, I would like them to explain why my family should be loyal to the Brand and someday Cruise a 9 Th time on one of there ships. With so many cruise lines, I'm not sure I will be back without a proper apology from someone from the corporate staff. Read Less

This was our first cruise and one of our last family vacations before our oldest goes to college. We chose the week of President's day because NY has the week off for winter break. The itinerary was also a deciding factor for the cruise. It was the Eastern Caribbean with port stops in Amber Cove, St Thomas, San Juan-PR, and Grand Turk. Weather was warm and sunny. There was always high winds on sea day so that prevented us from entirely enjoying the lido deck. There were A LOT of kids due to the break but that didn't impact our enjoyment at all. Ship was very clean and at full capacity according to the CD. I never felt overcrowded but we didn't hang out on Lido all the time. Staff was cleaning and they even painted the hull (?) during our port days in Amber Cove and St. Thomas. Public bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Fun shops were okay. Casino was the only negative. So smoky!!! It drifted out of the casino into the atrium and ocean plaza. There were small ionizer within the casino and it actually was less smoky when you walked through the casino. I did not see any ionizers outside the casina and there should be because the stench was unbearable on sea days in the atrium. Cabin was a Cove balcony on deck 2. We had connecting cabins for our family and two bathrooms and more room saved us from many arguments. Luggage can be stored under beds and there were three closets. two for hanging and one had open shelves. Steward's name is Carmina. She was so kind and friendly. Did a great job!! Food was plentiful. We didn't reserve any specialty dinning. We had Any Time Dining and were assigned the Sapphire dinning room. On the Carnival Hub app you can reserve at your leisure but can't request a table or server. the wait was never more than 10 minutes. The MDR service was alway great. We never had the same servers but they were all excellent. Buffet was okay. Mongolian Wok made to order was excellent. Guy's Burgers were very good. We ate pasta Cucina del Capitano for lunch and it was delicious (upcharge for dinner but not lunch), Pig and Anchor was very good. I had pulled pork and mac & cheese that was yummy. Entertainment was good. Comedy was good. Went twice because the times were conflicting with Ovation theater productions and by the time you walked to Lime Light theater it was standing room only. Band in Ocean Plaza had a very good. The band called Quite My Tempo & Nice Brass was excellent and the female singer was fantastic. The Piano Bar was the only major disappointment. We tried him twice and both times it was not good. Craig was the name. Nice guy but not gregarious. The violin trio in the atrium is another great act. There were others that we didn't see but overall music is very plentiful. Cruise Director was Leigh. He is from Australia so the accent had me at "hello". Great with kids and had the type of humor that I like. Port and Shore Excursion were the highlight of our trip: Amber Cove, Dominican Republic - Very nice port and had our passport stamped here. We did a non-Carnival excursion with Marysol Tours to Damajagua Falls. It was so much fun and I highly recommend both the tour company and tour. We also hired the paparazzi and it was well worth the $50+tip. We had over 150 pictures and 10 videos. St Thomas - Beautiful and still recovery from the hurricanes. We did a non-Carnival tour with Godfrey Tours included open bus ride of the City and Beach Break at Sapphire Beach. Again, the tour was good and highly recommend the tour and Godrey. San Juan PR - My favorite port. We walked to the visitors center (across from CVS) and they mapped a walk. So fun!! Went to Barrichina's for lunch and Pina Coladas, walked to the fort and Governor's mansion. Grand Turk - Did a beach day. Elation was in port before us and the free area was too crowded. We walked to Shark Reef Bar and rented 4 loungers and two umbrella's for $30. We just swam in the clear water, had drinks (very expensive compared to even Carnival) and toured the port area. I stuck up a conversation with a guest from Elation that did a snorkel tour and really enjoyed it. Read Less

Just back from our short cruise on the Liberty. I am a Platinum with Carnival, have been cruising with them for years. The last past two years we did cruise with Royal Caribbean, on the Oasis and then the Harmony because we wanted to cruise on the BIG ships. Anyway...we are booked on the Mardi Gras on 01/02.21 already. Now why I am writing this. We were not pleased at all with this last cruise. The only thing clean was our cabin. People that also traveled with us were not as lucky as we were with their cabin. The food was really bad, service was terrible. We have never had any of this before. In the dining room it took forever for our food to come and when it did it was not hot at all. The portions have been reduced to nothing at all. I mean my vegetable was broccoli, I had "one" little piece not as big as my thumb on my plate! As I said the food was not good at all. What a change from before when I use to brag about Carnival to others and got them to go on their ships. No more lobster nights either ! ! ! The buffet on the lido deck was no better, food was not hot and was NOT good. The BBQ was burnt and tasteless. The bake beans ...YUCK! Now we have had Guy's BBQ on other cruises and it was the best. Not this cruise. Each time we got Pizza it was brunt too (black Crust), hardly any cheese and toppings. The wonderful shows that Carnival use to put on are no more. The games and the Fun all gone. I have talked to a few relatives and friend's since getting back and they agree with me. Carnival has changed and not for the better. Since we are booked on the Mardi Gras next year we will give Carnival one more chance. Hopefully they will wake up. This is no way to keep them coming back like we have been doing for years and we take at lest one cruise a year. If the Mardi Gras disappoints us like this last cruise we will forever go with other cruise lines and tell others about how Carnival has forgotten about the FUN, and Value that they were know for. Clean up your ships, bring back the FUN to your cruises and PLEASE go back to your out of this world Food that you use to have. Read Less

Went down for a long weekend visiting family and decided to extend our visit by booking a 4 night cruise on Carnival. Had a blast! Although we have cruised many times before, this is our third cruise on Carnival. From the time we arrived at the port, until the time we were sitting at a table nears Guys' was probably less than twenty minutes. Painless embarkation. Absolutely loved MarQ the CD. He was always a ball of energy! We enjoyed all of the food venues...especially Guy's Burgers. Pizza Pirate was ok but as a New Yorker, any pizza outside of the NY/NJ area leaves something to be desired. Wait staff in the dining rooms were attentive. We enjoyed the little shows every night. What I didn't like was that the maitre'd kept reminding us about filling out the survey that we would get at home and hoped his staff would receive 10's. We enjoyed the sea day brunch. We had an inside cabin on deck 1 which seemed roomier than the ones we have had on NCL. Excellent service from the stewards who always called us by name. We did not take any excursions and mostly hung out at the adult pool in the back of the ship. I was very impressed with the lifeguards who actually told parents that it was an adults only area and that their children weren't allowed in the pool or hot tubs. On other ships that has not been enforced. The shows were good. We especially liked the music trivia with MarQ in the lobby. Lots of fun! Disembarkation was not as efficient as embarkation but still not terrible. Went to the comedy club and wasn't impressed with the PG comedian. I understand that the over 18 show was better. I believe that I had seen the first comedian previously and didn't enjoy his show at that time either so I guess it is personal taste. Overall, we had a great time and I would cruise on the Liberty again! Read Less

This was my second time on the Elation, first was pre-2017 upgrades. Pros: Great crew, lots of potential for entertainment. Our stateroom (on G deck) was great. Embarkation at Port Canaveral is the smoothest I've been through. Some of the restaurants were good. Guys burgers is you get a burger on a bun and then build it yourself. Really nothing special, but still decent. The Taco Bar is pretty much the same, they give you a tortilla and your choice of meat, and you build the rest yourself. The deli in the back was great, and the two or three people that served were amazing. I tried 3-4 different things and got hooked on the BLT for breakfast. A lot of people rave about the pizza, and it is okay, but not my favorite. I personally think even DiGiorno is better, but having it readily available 24/7 is good. Would like to see some other American favorites. The Shows were entertaining. Went to 2 comedy shows on the first half, but the better of the two comedians got off the boat for the second half. Cons: My biggest gripe about this ship is the layout seems to leave a lot of dead spaces and areas where the stage or dance floor is also a main walk way. (drama bar). Went on back to back cruises and part of the entertainment from the first cruise got off the ship for the second cruise. Second cruise had less entertainment. The pre-2017 cruise they had a pool in the back of the ship, giving the Elation 2 pools and 4 hot tubs. In 2017 they eliminated the pool in the back to to add the water slides, which is fine, except they really need a pool back there for the kids as well. Even a shallow 2-3' deep one would do wonders. Without that, the main pool and spa tubs in the middle of the ship were constantly packed with small children. When entertainment did happen in a club, the club was packed full. Whether it be live music or comedy, however, there seemed to be only a few happening at a time, and many of the clubs would be closed (nobody running the bar). Lido deck entertainment is kind of hard to see. Just seems like something is always in the way. I don't remember it being that way back in 2008. Maybe equipment on the stage? Honestly, I worked in a local music business (very small time), but one thing the DJ's would do is play to the audience. DJ Renzo played what he liked, ignored request, and would seem to deliberation drive people away. Read Less

We were just on Carnival Elation for a 5 night cruise. Overall the cruise was good, as it had some things we really liked and some things that were kind of lacking. We did not have any problem with our cabin and our room attendant was attentive and got anything we wanted, i.e. extra pillows , two buckets of ice, and a chair so I could sit up if needed to with my bad back. On the positive note, the entertainment was very good. The singers and dancers were excellent and very talented. They put on shows of different genres and each was amazing!! Also one of the late night comedians was very funny, the other one was just average. The biggest reason I can't give this cruise a 5 star great rating is the food on the buffet on lido deck. Each night they had meat that was carved for you and the only night it was quite good was the first night they had pork roast. that was tasty, but a little bland. The other 2 nights we ate at the buffet the meat that was carved was substandard, tough and dry and very little taste. There also dint seem to be much variety of side dishes, and each night they had over done baked potatoes, no mashed, French fries or red. Nothing but the same baked potato. Also the quantity and quality of the other side dishes was disappointing . Some were very spicy and not labeled that you would know that, and some very tasteless. We did eat in the dining room 2 nights and the food was very good, but the servers , although very efficient were not very friendly. they seldom smiled or interacted with us. Also I don't see why they don't have the burger place open at dinner time. Id much rather have it open for part of dinner than 11 am. In the casino some of the dealers and pt bosses were very nice and friendly and some u couldn't make them smile if u tried. Overall it was a good cruise but could have been great if some of the staff were more friendly and if they work on making the buffet better. The last 2 cruises on carnival I was on slightly bigger ships and the food on the buffet was better. To end my review, I also remember more deck parties and parties in the bars and clubs that were announced and not so much on this cruise and after 11:30 at night there was nothing to do but go to the casino. I chose this particular cruise for the stops in Grand Turk and Amber Cove, and was not disappointed! Embarkation was smooth, fast, and well organized. Because our transportation got us to the port earlier that the time I signed up to board, I was afraid I would have to wait until my designated time but we got right on the boat with no issues or delays. We had Faster to the Fun, which is definitely worth the money! I admit I was a bit skeptical about the Elation due to previous not-so-great reviews, but my experience was nothing like those reviews. It's a beautiful ship, despite a little rust and being older. I plan a cruise based on activities offered, not on what the ship looks like. Several of the previous reviews also mentioned mechanical issues and/or rocking of the ship. There has always been a bit of a sway on any ship I have been on, which I find relaxing. There was one day where the rocking was a good bit more noticeable, but come on...the winds were hitting 40 and 50 mph that day. A little rocking is to be expected with winds that high. Our stateroom was a junior suite on the Grand Deck. To me, the only really noticeable difference between this stateroom and a regular balcony room was the larger TV. It had the same amenities and maybe a slightly bigger bit of floor space but not a vast difference. Next time I will save a few bucks and stick to the regular balcony. Our steward, Soma, was the absolute best I have ever had on any cruise. Food was so-so, just basic cruise ship food. 99% of the staff was friendly, but there is always that handful that just doesn't seem to want to be there. The cruise director and the rest of the entertainment and leadership crew were spectacular as well. On the last night there was a couple playing violins at the atrium bar that played the most incredible version of "Free Bird" I have ever heard, all on violin. They held an audience of several floors of cruisers in awe from start to finish. We didn't do any shore excursions, but just chose to explore the cruise ports. Grand Turk was almost too crowded, with one other ship in port that day. Amber Cove seemed a bit more spread out and was more enjoyable to me. I only wish we could have stayed in Amber Cove a bit longer. It's a shorter day in port than Grand Turk, but it seems like there is more to do there. I would definitely do this cruise again. My husband and I sailed on the Carnival Breeze for 7 days in February 2020. We had warm and sunny weather, but the winds were high resulting in the ship being very rocky the majority of the trip. I'm talking like losing your footing in hallways and the being physically rocked to sleep in your bed. We had to take nausea medication daily. We talked to people who have been on 20+ cruises and they even said this had been the rockiest cruise they had been on. The ship was great! The staff were phenomenal! The ship was very clean and nice. The only downfall is we felt like the cigarette smoke from the casino really carried through the ship and through the lobby area. The food was delicious as expected. We did our time dining and were always able to be seated within 10 minutes. Tables are close to others, but it was a nice way to meet other people. The Sushi from Bonsai is amazing! We found that the buffet often had the same dishes that were served for dinner in the main dining room. We also found that each end/side of the buffet had one or two items that were different, so make sure you check out both sides before grabbing your plate. On board entertainment was fantastic! The Motor City show was my favorite, but all of the shows were great! We found that the time from 7:45 PM to 10 PM, there was not a lot going on for on board activities. We ended up going to bed a little earlier some nights because there was a huge gap in activities. The main entertainment shows end between 7:45- 8 PM and then the comedy club doesn't start until 10:15 PM. We also learned to get to the comedy club 45 minutes early if you want a seat! The ports were good. Amber Cove is just shopping and a huge pool with water slide. We walked around the shops, got our passport stamped, and lounged by the pool for a little bit, but then went back onto the ship to eat and find a spot by the pool before everyone got back on the ship. In St. Thomas, we did the Sapphire Beach Snorkel excursion through Carnival. The beach was beautiful, but the snorkeling was not great. Too many people and nothing to see when snorkeling. The wind was high so there were bigger waves so not sure if this affected what was seen when snorkeling. Puerto Rico was amazing! We just walked around the city for most of the day. There were a lot of "homeless" people begging for money here. You can walk right off the ship into the city. Grand Turk was beautiful! The winds finally let up so we had the best beach day! There are some umbrellas that are free, but the locals have set up their chairs and umbrellas closer to the water. We paid $40 for two chairs and umbrella for the day. They are really pushy to get to you pay for chairs and umbrellas. The water is crystal clear and perfect. It does get pretty crowded with two cruise ships in port. We were lucky to be the first ship at the port. Next time, we would walk down to Jack's Shack right away to get our jerk chicken as once the second ship is in port, the line is extremely long. Overall, it was a very good and relaxing trip. We would definitely take this cruise again. Read Less
