We really loved Avalon, its people and especially the stateroom layout. The staff was friendly and competent, the facilities first class and the food, while not spectacular, was very good and met out expectations. We chose this cruise because it was the only one available with the cabins we wanted when we were looking. The service we received from the staff was excellent! The biggest improvement I would suggest is to improve the quality of the food and drinks. Cold oatmeal, lukewarm white wine, etc.

Sailing with Avalon definitely was the perfect experience. Making new friends during cocktail hour and dining with them provided us with the ultimate opportunity to learn from friends in other countries. This cruise provided an extra night in Amsterdam and allowed us to visit both Keukenhof Gardens and the Anne Frank House (pre-plan 6 weeks prior as tickets are limited.)

I wish I could give Avalon's ship, crew, and itinerary 10 stars because it was outstanding in every way. The meals were so beautifully prepared and presented - with all the wine you want from the local region. Pros: Nice balcony room, comfortable bed, excellent excursions, the lady playing violin was really great and entertaining, too.

Having done quite a few ocean cruises this was our first ever experience of a river trip.
Initially Avalon made an absolute hash of our flights and eventually got us to the ship after midnight. As we missed that evening’s meal they did offer us some light refreshments in our cabin.

This was a southbound Rhine cruise from Amsterdam to Basel. It was our first river cruise, chosen because it would be a new experience, but also because of the ports of call, which looked very interesting.
