Having done quite a few ocean cruises this was our first ever experience of a river trip.

Initially Avalon made an absolute hash of our flights and eventually got us to the ship after midnight. As we missed that evening’s meal they did offer us some light refreshments in our cabin.

The cabin itself was excellent with panoramic windows and good facilities. It was quiet with no discernable engine noise at night (can’t speak for cabins nearer the stern). Read more
