Once in a lifetime River Cruise - a disaster

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on AmaBella (APT)

Embarking on the AMAwaterways Amabella 14-night Grand Danube cruise was a highly anticipated journey, meticulously planned over a year in advance. After a hiatus from international travel since 2014, our expectations were high, especially having previously experienced the luxury of Uniworld River Cruises. Our adventure took an unexpected turn on the fourth day as my spouse and I fell ill with ...

Budapest to Bucharest - 'Nothing to see here'

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on AmaVenita (APT)

APT's river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest was excellent. There are interesting things to see every few minutes on both sides of the river all the way - and fabulous towns along the way and on the numerous side tours. The ship glides past fortresses, castles, quaint villages and point of interest (dozens of them) all the time. But APT's 'Voyage Through The Balkans' is, at best, about 10% ...

The pluses of the river trip are in the title But what spoiled it: • It was like being in an old people’s home, and I am 70! Slow on board, slow on tours. • When I give way to people in corridors or on stairs I expect a thank you or smile. So often not. • The first few days a few coughs and sneezes, by day 4 heaps and many (men mostly) not covering up when they sneeze. My wife during week ...

After doing many cruises we decided on this Rhine rivercruise. The dinners we were served were terrible, and the 6 in our group all agreed on this. We were also on their other ship, the AMA Amereina and the dinners for the 7 days on this boat were also terrible, so the poor catering is not isolated to just one of their boats. The 2 stars I gave are for the nice boat, and nice ports and ...

We had not traveled with the Australian Company APT. Thought we would give it a try. Uniworld and Avalon are much better in my view. The distances, by bus, on some tours were a real let down. The enthusiasm of wait staff went from very helpful to " don't want to be here". At times conflicting information was provided by the boats crew. One morning the gangplank was moved a 5am. The noise of the ...

Buyer beware!!!! This was certainly a holiday of a lifetime and we call it the "Great Aussie Rip Off". Please make sure you read the fine, fine print carefully. Budapest to Amsterdam Friday 18 March for 15 days. We believed we had researched this holiday thoroughly before booking with APT. We asked the correct questions. We finally booked with APT because we liked the fact it was an ...

Expectations too high?

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on AmaReina (APT)

The first 8 days were changed to the AmaVenita because of low water levels around Nurenburg...and changed to the Ama Reina for the last half of the trip....no problem there. Day one...we entered our cabin 204, Catagory T+ which gave us an outdoor balcony plus a French Balcony. Very nice, except that another ship was moored right along side us. so - no view except of a neighbouring cabin about 10cm ...

Overrated, Expensive, Poor Value

We have just completed an APT 8 day enchanting Rhine cruise and it was very ordinary from and activity and tour perspective, the ship, crew, food and cabins were all excellent however the cruising and on shore activities were badly organised and managed. Don't believe all of the marketing materials on these cruises as you only have about 2 days of good cruising and the rest is industrial and ...
