Chosen because of its destination. New Zealand. First impression. The ship was big. Cabin was very comfortable. Nice touch with floor lights when using the bathroom at night. Plenty of hanging space and storage.Initial thoughts that the ship had a lot of rust for its age. Fixtures and fittings in some public areas looked tired.. Theatre was very good but only catered for 1400 passengers per show ...
This was the cruise of our dreams....and New Zealand didn't let us down.
Sadly there was much to disappoint on board.
We found organisation often chaotic specially on days we had to tender. You had to queue for tickets to join then queue to get off and it took an absolute age. Another occasion we had to queue for a ticket just to join the queue to get off the ship to get on a shuttle bus. ...
Chose this cruise sailing from Sydney to see the Fiordlands unfortunately we were not told that there is only a small chance to see them, Apparently the ships are often denied entry to the Fiords because of possible weather. So of course we did get to see that portion. Had we known about this we would not have booked.
On the first night we tried the dining room (Botticelli) the Chef in there ...
Overall, it was a great cruise, probably one of the friendliest crew we have ever experienced.
Positives:
1. Great crew. Very friendly especially at all the bars.
2. Very comfortable bed.
3. Free room service, very decent menu and you now order through the TV. Very timely service.
4. Great variety of entertainment.
5 very smooth and efficient embarkation and disembarkation. ...
What was to be a celebration of our birthdays turned out to be the worse cruise we ever sailed with Princess! We are platinum members and have never experienced such rude and brusque attitudes from crew members from all of our travels! From a RUDE Maitre'd---who made me cry and kept walking by looking at me and never attempted to address the situation, to rudely being awoken at 5am with hammering ...
it was full of old people not much to do
entertainment was poorly organised.
veriety of food was poor, the food was basically the same day in day out in lido deck 15,breakfast mainly.
it was annoying to find 2 people sitting at a table of 6-8 when we have 7 of us i feel that staff could organise a little better.
it was great that the staff were lookig after everyone with tea and coffie ...
What Princess Cruise Lines won’t tell US citizens embarking from Australia. They will try to cheat you!
1. Although you purchase everything in US dollars, your onboard credit you were promised is not in US Dollars anymore, but in AUD. We were jipped!
2. TIP: Usually the tip is mandatory/included in most cruises for US citizens, but you do NOT have to pay the fixed tip for Embarking from ...
I wanted to visit the islands in this itinerary after many years, but found that many should not have been included. Nothing to do except have a massage or have your hair braided on the beach. What a waste of port time. The ship is very rusty and for a ship just 11 years old it is poorly maintained. My Premium balcony was rusted all along the top and bottom. I thought the ship has been ...
We expected a lot more based on the past experiences related to us by friends and family. The room service menu left a lot to be desired even when they delivered what we ordered, which was about 10% of the time. You can't get toast with breakfast even if you ask for it!
Our room was a tired shade of beige, with both lampshades conspicuously held together by sticky tape. I can only assume the ...
We chose this cruise mainly due to the itinerary, to fall in the middle of a month long trip to Australia.
I do take the responsibility of not considering the amount of sea days vs port days. Four ports on a ten day cruise was too few, with three of the four being tender ports (too many tender ports).
We are a couple in our late 50’s and felt drastically out of place on this mainly ...
