We loved this cruise. It was a 50th wedding anniversary celebration with our family. The food was excellent and the waiters were very friendly and made the experience very fun. We liked most of the evening entertainment, but the magic act was not up to par. Their act was lacking in variety and seemed juvenile. The comedian was fun, but he needs to improve his vocabulary - all the swear words were crude and offensive. The swearing distracted from the fun. I also don't think making fun or people and embarrassing them is very funny. I don't like the disembarkation process. The questionnaire we had to complete for the disembarkation was vey confusing and should be revised. We wanted to take our luggage off ourselves and but were not ready to leave the ship at 7:30 AM. There was not an option to take our own luggage off ourselves and leave a little latter. This was confusing and needs to be improved. Getting on the ship in Vancouver was one of the worst experiences I have had in a long time. The cruise terminal was very disorganized. We have to stand in several lines and it weened we went around in several circles. Then we went up stairs and got in more lines and then we went down stairs and stood in more lines. Someone needs to improve this process. Read Less

For our 50th anniversary, we took a 12-day Princess cruise to Alaska originating in Los Angeles. From the moment we stepped aboard the 5-star Ruby Princess, we were surrounded by helpful, smiling faces of staff. Our balcony room gave us a wonderful view and fresh air throughout our cruise. The bed was SO comfortable with cozy Egyptian linens. Our cabin Steward, Christopher, was so helpful and attentive. The ship holds about 3500 guests and about 1500 very service oriented staff- which is a nice size and ratio. The restaurant meals were fresh and fabulous with very attentive waiters. There were fresh food options 24- hours a day! We enjoyed the flexibility of "anytime" dining. The entertainment was nonstop. We especially enjoyed the nightly musical shows in the Princess Theater. They have very talented performers- bands, singers and dancers. The different lounges also had good entertainment and often dancing. The casino is spacious and has lots of variety, including blackjack tournaments which are really fun! The gym provides nice machines with an amazing view! We especially enjoyed the tram excursion in Juneau and the train in Scagway. We plan to fly to Anchorage on our next Alaskan trip to explore the more northern regions and to do a land tour to Denali. We highly recommend Princess cruises without reservation! We look forward to our next Princess cruise!! The 12 days flew by!! Read Less

We cruised with our 10-year-old daughter on Royal Princess. The top priority for us is a quiet place to stay. Balcony cabin A111 was at the great location with the quiet level that meets our standard. Food: We were pleased with our assigned dining table for 4 every night. The fine dining was delicious. Horizon Court buffet had a generous selection of food every meal. We enjoyed later at night wandering around there just to walk around; and to sit down for a bite if we couldn't resist, even after our dinner! Entertainment: All staffs were very professional. The cruise director Matt O was a whole new level of professional! His passion, talent and enthusiasm made every show memorable. He brought laugh and happiness every where he went. He was the shinning star on Royal Princess! Camp Discovery: The new junior program was just rolled out a few months when we cruise. Some of the staffs were not well-trained to handle multiple requests with all kids around; the skee ball machines either were broke down, or not allow to play due to other reasons. My daughter did enjoy the slime making activity. Read Less

It is a wonderful mix of people and every passenger on board was so fun and excited and so sweet to everyone else. The stage shows that they put on our like a broadway musical and the performers can sing with the best of them! They have a full range of things for you to do whether it’s hanging by the 5 pools and jacuzzi’s they have, learning about the many secrets of pirate treasure, world class shopping with incredible deals, or anything else you can think of, there is never ever a dull moment. My family needed a cruise suitable for our range of ages and tastes and this family friendly, low stress cruise absolutely matched our needs. Very clean ship inside and out with friendly staff and fun entertainers. We travelled from Sydney, Australia to Melbourne and Hobart and then went to New Zealand getting stops at Port Chalmers, Akaroa, Tauranga and Auckland. There was a large variety of activities that suited the seniors in our group as well as the younger cousins, too. From Zumba to Bingo to jaw-dropping production shows, we were thoroughly entertained onboard. Food was easy to acquire and change to our tastes as necessary for those with food allergies. I am pleased to note that there were accessible shore excursions and the entire ship was accessible for people with mobility issues. The outside and inside of the ship were truly majestic, with details everywhere to enhance the experience for guests of any culture. Read Less

badgered by relatives and friends to go.....would not have done it otherwise...no regrets. This was my first Ocean Cruise.....have done two other river cruises. By far a much bigger ship with much more available. Getting on and off the ship was a hassle but not unexpected for the number of people. The people on the ship were all polite and helpful. Our facilities were all clean however I did wash my Hands 2372 times....smile....We did appreciate the care of our cabin by the young lady. Very helpful person as well. The food was good, a great variety with healthy choices (only gained three pounds) and the waiters were helpful, polite and knowledgable about the menu. Liked the balcony, used it quite a bit. Having the info available on the TV about the position of the ship enroute , the weather and the bridge cam was interesting for me. I did note that the two main news channels available were only the extreme left and right politically. CNBC was good to have. BBC was good for world news. I would certainly give your cruise line a positive review and tell others it was a good experience. May go again , age and health permitting. Thank you for the experience. Read Less

We chose this ship for ports or call and length of trip. We loved all the tucked away areas on the ship. The Sanctuary was quiet and enjoyable, we booked it for three half days. The restaurants were fantastic and the service provided by Antonio and Anthony was five star. We never visited any specialty restaurant because the food in the main dinning room was so delicious. Behind the fitness center is a free unisex sauna and steam room that can be used free of charge. The TRX classes lead by Dan were outstanding. We enjoyed the outside jogging track on 18 as long as people walking didn't get in the way. The shows were very good and we enjoyed all of them. The ports of call were our favorite. We went to Pirates Cove in Barbados, The Marriott in St. Kitts and in St. Lucia we did the "Joy Tour Excursion". They took us to the mud baths, waterfalls and finished up with a delicious local meal. Our tour guys Captain Phil, Nano and Jonathan were polite, informative and fun. Our least favorite excursion was in Antigua. We visited Church Valley Beach which was disappointing because the bar service and food were horrible and way overpriced. The steep slope to enter and exit the water was challenging for the ederly. I thought everything on the cruise was great. This was my first cruise, so I have nothing to compare it to. The food at the buffet was acceptable. I only ate at the buffet for breakfast. Nothing really spectacular, but nothing was poor either. The only issue I had with the Horizon buffet is finding a seat in the dining area. There are two sides for the buffet, and both sides are really busy and packed with people. I had to either eat really early to get a seat, or wait for someone to finish eating, then swoop down on the table to get it. Or, the alternate is to take your food outside to the pool area to eat, but it could get pretty cold and windy out there. Dining for dinner in the DaVinci or Michaelanglo dining rooms were wonderful. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The inside basic cabin that my wife and I were in on the 8th floor was acceptable. It was clean and the bed was super comfortable. The bathroom was very small, but that's to be expected on a cruise ship. It fulfilled its purpose. I thoroughly enjoyed all the activities on the ship. We did dance lessons, trivia games, attended concerts, used the fitness center, walked laps on the ships deck, etc. Our favorite staff on the ship was a guy who claims to be from Serbia, who has a strong accent. He was the host for most of the trivia games, bingo, and was even the announcer for the disembarkation process. Loved that guy. He's so funny! Embarkation and disembarkation was a breeze. The cruise staff got this down to a science! All in all, a wonderful experience. I will be returning to Princess Cruises soon! Read Less

I truly believe that Princess cruise line does a exceptional job in all areas of there services for cruisers who are looking for a well efficiently run cruise line. We really enjoyed all the different options for eating. Alfredos had a delicious pizza with very friendly service. Ate at the specialty steak restaurant Crown Grill, pleasant service, good appetizers, and delicious top of the line steaks.Traditional dining and my time dining was well timed and service was always pleasant and menu and deserts were of good quality. Buffet food was delicious with so many options. INTERNATIONAL Cafe had great coffee options and very good deserts, pastries, many options of sandwiches and salads. Try there yogurt parfait, absolutely delicious. Many options around ship and pool area for snacks and drinks. They have a nice gym .Offer many choices of entertainment for children and Adults. Pool ares were busy at times and quiet at times. Movie under the stars was really nice ,they even showed movies during the day at times . We were very happy and felt in the Christmas Spirit. We have done over 30 cruises, 28 on Princess. The ship and staff are outstanding. We loved the charm of the ship even though it is showing some signs of wear and tear (Princess Theater seats need to be reupholstered.) Club Class meals were a highlight. The food and service were outstanding. Every night Giovanni, the Head Waiter, made a special dish. We had seen all of the shows so we did Movies under the Stars and saw a couple of comedians which we enjoyed. Sit away from where food is being prepared which can impact hearing a movie. The Club Class Minisuite was comfortable with a wonderful bed. The room was extremely well-maintained. The lecturers were outstanding especially the series on a Route 66. We love everything about Club Class. We never had to wait and our waiters (Edgar and Alvin were amazing!) The gym was well-maintained with some updated equipment, Especially nice was the international appeal of the cruise. The vast majority of passengers were from the US, China and Canada. The only minor downside was we have seen all of the shows multiple times. The6 need some new ones. Read Less

I chose this ship because of the port of embarkation and the itinerary. I have always wanted to go to St Thomas and St Maarten. Plus I love Princess. The staff is one of the best staff I have ever dealt with on a cruiseship. You see smiling faces everywhere. Always helpful and asking if you need anything. I couldnt have asked for better people. Michael and Mario were our waiters on our dining room and they were amazing. The first time you told them what you liked and didnt like, they remembered it for the next night. They took care of everything. They were funny, professional and withoubt a doubt the best waiters I have ever met. If oyu decide to take an excursion the eco hike on St John was nice, although the boat ride was long it was worth it. I didnt like the guide because he was a little quiet and hardly spoke, he wasnt part of Princess, but I liked the tour itself. Just wish there was another guide. Read Less

From embarkation to disembarkation and in between, we had an excellent time. Certain employees deserve commendation for their above and beyond duties. One is Anthony, our cabin attendant at P244 always kept our cabin clean and orderly. The other is Mister Joan, our waiter at Capri Dining Room and his Indonesian beverage waiter (sorry I forgot his name) for keeping our beverage filled - they are a good team. The people manning the International Café also deserve recognition. Keep the International Café open - nice alternative place for snack or a full meal. Maybe if we could have more entertainment at the Piazza. We also enjoyed the entertainment shows at the Princess Theater. They were great broadway shows. Another alternative is the SaltyDog where we usually stop for a hot dog/hamburger/cheeseburger and the fries. Thank you for the complimentary vouchers at the Crown Grill and enjoyed the food immensely. I missed going to the Fitness Gym because I couldn't find extra time. Too bad isn't it? To the other employees who made our excellent cruise, we thank all of them for a job well done! My son-ion-law whom I invited to join us, he loved it so much he signed up for another cruise and invited his father and sister. Like what the Captain says, "Nevertheless, Bye-bye."" Read Less

The shows were spectacular-from the dancers and singer to the comedian and Magician. Amazing employees that act like they really like their jobs. The food was excellent in the dining room. We never felt rushed. There are spots all over the ship that you can be alone outside your cabin. We love the grill topside. We run thru the buffet at lunch a load up greens; then have them grill a chicken breast for on top (resisting the fries of course). International cafe was a little crowded this cruise ( I think it was because of their new coffee card system). There seemed to be a line often and I don’t do lines! Love love love this ship. Alaska was on our bucket list so we did one week land tour and one week ship cruise. Princess did not disappoint! The staff onboard was professional and courteous. Our cabin and all public areas were always clean and neat. We started in Anchorage for the land portion of our tour. The hotel we were in, Hotel Captain Cook was located within easy walking distance to shopping, eating, and park/waterfront trail. -The Star Princess was very nice. The cabins are plain, but are in good repair with plenty of storage space (closet and under bed for suitcases). Plenty of hangers in the closet and a separat area of shelves with a safe. Our steward was very efficient, friendly, and professional (Albert Garcia). He kept our cabin clean and neat, assisted us in timely pressing of our formal night clothes, and he was always mindful of our coming and going in order to take care of our daily cabin cleaning and nightly turndown service. -The cabin was just the right size. We were in L206 and had a balcony (I think a must for an Alaskan cruise). We were on the port side, which is good for a southbound cruise. Our cabin had the basic furniture and was in good repair The A/C could have been colder for us. We slept with the balcony door open and still was not cool enough for us. The bathroom is fine so long as only one person is in it at a time. Above our room was the aerobics room, but we never heard any noise or music from it. -Dining was great. Our service was always efficient and professional (food and drinks served timely). The menu options each night were great (king crab legs, lobster, always a fish dish, vegan dish, etc.). In addition to the dinner option each night, there were the Princess standbys offered every night (i.e. shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad, salmon, fettuccini, cheesecake). -Horizon Court is the buffet option offered for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was open 0600-2300 each night. It had great variety and quality food options. I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful service here too. Tables were quick turned over (so no long trolling for a table), beverage service was professional and timely. The buffet areas were always clean, which is not easy task with 3000+ guests coming through at least once, if not two, three, or four times a day. There was also the International Café (paninis, sandwiches, desserts), pizza café (pretty good pizza it was), and the burger grill (more than burgers (veggie burger, chicken, hotdogs, brauts). If you can't find food you like onboard...it's YOU, not the ship. Also, on sea days there is afternoon tea, and if you don't like the time of the tea (3:30-4:15), you can get very similar sandwiches, scones, sweets in the Horizon Court. -We did not partake in any of the entertainment (except the married couple game show, always a great laugh on any cruise line). I particularaly enjoyed the Naturalist onboard. She was a wealth of information on the wildlife and environment in Alaska. She would take times to point out wildlife over the loudspeaker (public places only, not your cabin). In your cabin you could tune in on TV to hear her. You could be anywhere on the ship and know whether to look port or starhboard for whales, sea otters, Bald eagles, etc. -Anywhere we interacted staff, (dining, guest services, bars) we encountered friendly and professional staff. They even offered a Breast Cancer 5K walk onboard during one of the at sea days. A $15 minimum donation, which Princess matches. The gym looked great. We looked at it the first day with the best of intentions, but never got around to using it :) Ports/Excursions: Lots of great options, but overpriced as any cruise line. All the ports we pulled into were an easy walk into town. No need for a bus or taxi if you are just walking around town. -WHITTIER, AK- This was a transfer, train to ship. We did not visit Whittier and that was fine with us. Not much to see there. HUBBARD GLACIER, AK - Absolutely wonderful. We had a balcony cabin so the Capatain turning the ship from port to starboard and allowing time to view the glacier was wonderful! We kicked back on our balcony with a beer and enjoyed glacier calving and beauty. GLACIER BAY, AK- Great! So many glaciers and wild life to see. The scenery and time spent here was perfect. Appreciated the time spent facing glaciers on port and starboard sides. SKAGWAY, AK- Our zipline shuttle tour guide was great. Zipling was okay (11 lines, not that long). We did one in Cabo years ago that we liked better. It said there was a snack included which equated to marshmellows and water. The town of Skagway was cute with self guided walking tours. Most of the shopping (as in all the towns, was owned by the cruise lines. I prefer the local shops). Loved the Skagway Brewery. We also had time to hike a bit in Skagway...good uphill hike! JUNEAU, AK - We spent most of our time at Mendenhall Glacier (Tongass Nation Park). Great time hiking the trails, visiting the Visitor Center. We also had a beer at The Hangar in town. It was nice to look over the water and watch the bush planes take off and land. KETCHIKAN, AK- My favorite port! We kayaked, walked the town, Creek St. is quaint, and the salmon spawning trail was interesting. We had a beer at the local Fraternity Order of Eagles (FOE) and sat out on their deck on Creek St....watched seals playing with each other. The beers were only $3.50 each and I thought it was very nice of this private club to let us hang out there. VANCOUVER, CA - Did not see, just a transfer. Read Less

We chose the Coral Princess for it's passenger size (2000), the itinerary, timing for our 37 family members, the land tour option, accessibility and wide variety of shore excursion choices. The Coral Princess looks good, she's clean and the cabins are comfortable. The entertainment was fun, especially the trivia for my family members. Our service in the cabins was great, but the dining service for the early dining in Bordeaux was very, very slow and disorganized. The staff was changed on the 3rd night of our cruise because the wait staff wasn't managing our 5 tables well. Five well behaved children were part of our group; they loved the experience in the kid zone as well as the on board activities. Their favorite activity was looking for wildlife from the promenade deck. We saw whales, orcas, porpoises, seals, puffins, eagles, sea otters and salmon from the deck! We would do this trip all over again, it was so much fun! Read Less

The ship was lovely and the crew so friendly. Our cabin was a little small but then we didn't spend a huge amount of time in it.. We thoroughly enjoyed every port but did need more time in Victoria BC. Our 16 year old daughter loved the Beach Hut and made friends. Service was excellent, loved Nino and Alex in the Da Vinci Dining Room. Super service. We would happily cruise with them again. Top service in every bar. There were a lot of activities on the ship, only a few that we enjoy. The tablet based bingo was a bit odd and took the fun out of the game itself. You could however buy just paper tickets but the tablets allowed many more winning opportunities so you really had to be part of that. Read Less

Provided valuable information about each port. Loved the excursions we took in all ports. Highly recommend Lisbon! Guest lecturer David Russell was outstanding. Very pleasant surprise to our cruise. His lectures were about World War II and the Royal Navy battles. Fascinating details. Very captivating speaker. There were about 10 lectures and each built on the previous. Princess has great enrichment lecturers, but David was truly outstanding! Productions shows were fantastic. Excellent singers and dancers. 3 new shows - loved them! Loved to movies on board. Many new movies that I had not seen before. Easy to see in theater or the room. Love the on demand feature for movies!!!! Read Less

Five day Cabo overnight and California Coastal ......our annual "wellness" cruise ....booked. Back to back for a total of 12 days. Our first cruise during spring break and it was "different" but also fun to experience more of a "party" atmosphere . Got to hear and see best individual performer ever in our 45 cruise experience. Lou Gazzara has a voice similiar to Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darrin......do not miss his performance if he performs on a cruise you have booked. Production shows were also well done. Christian ran a tight well organized relaxed dining room on deck 5 and head waiters Stefan, Daniel and Jose from Porugal twere very friendly and efficient. Waiters were funny and really knew their job. Casino VIP experience was a dramatic change from past poorly paying machines and empty casino. Booking another of these cruises this summer.... Classes offerred in gym were excellent. Trainers Josh and Branko were well trained and passionate about their jobs. Read Less

We enjoyed the Workshops and activities related to becoming more healthy. The ship was filled with elderly people. I enjoyed seeing elderly folks interact with music and dance. The Spa had a wonderful Chinese Acupuncturist with lots of experience and we were recipients of her care. The massage therapists were eager to give you free 5-10 minute massages as an introduction to their massages. The Spa area was very busy. However, their Sauna area was very hidden and not very well marketed. The Spa was on Deck 5, while a lot of their Fitness workshops were on Deck 18 and a little hard to find. The food was exceptional and had many healthy options. The dining staff were cheery and brought our drinks to the table in the Buffet area, unlike some of our other favorite ships. Handicapped customers were treated with respect and dignity. The ports we stopped at were interesting and felt safe. Local people were friendly. Our taxi drivers were very informative. Read Less
