Our friends that are wine connoisseurs wanted to tour region. We wanted to see Monaco but this trip did not end up there as the brochure stated when we booked.
We enjoyed all the stops and seeing so many wonderful places., especially the small, quaint little towns and unusual things like "Garden of Eden," organ concert in cathedral, wine tasting in a chateau, etc.....

We chose AmaLyra since the headquarters is local, based in Calabasas. We want to try local businesses in the area. It also has a very good reputation. We were 100% satisfied with the experience. My friend and I wanted to encourage our husbands to enjoy the Normandy area and we wanted to see parts of France, including Paris.... this trip fit the bill.... We had done our own exploration of Normandy for several days before the cruise and were very glad that we did.... Wanted a 15 day transatlantic with northern European emphasis. Never sailed Princess and probably wont be back. 2 1/2 hours to board in Southampton in a club class mini suite. Apparently mobility issues gets u on first but that was half the ship apparently. Ship was big and maximized cabin space at the expense of ship features. This was my first river cruise. We began in Paris with a city tour, then embarked from Remich, Germany to cruise the Mosel River, then cruised down the Rhine to Amsterdam. We stopped at many scenic towns, had time to tour, shop, and check out local restaurants.

We choose Avalon because of the cabins on the boats. They are larger than most of the other river boats. The outside wall is literally glass from ceiling to floor. The glass slides so you can open your room to the river, sit in a very comfortable chair and enjoy watching the scenery as you cruise.
