Fabulous cruise and great value

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Marella Discovery

We chose this cruise because we were limited to this particular week and wanted somewhere warm. We had cruised with Thomson several years ago and the Discovery is streets ahead of our previous ship. We booked quite late and got a good deal including a good discount on a suite. This gave us some extras including access to the Concierge Lounge which offers free Wi-fi 24 hours a day plus tea and ...

This was my second cruise with Thomson, first the Dream 5 years ago and I took some persuading to go on this and I really did not want to leave the ship! Got to the ship at about 11.30am, embarkation was smooth and easy going. Ship compared to the Dream is amazing, we had chosen out aft cabin before we left and were not at all disappointed with this, having our 17 year old son with us there ...

Picked up from airport and a short transfer to the ship, a very long queue to register for the ship. Eventually got on board, not shown to cabin as with other cruises! A decent cabin with plenty of storage space, we even had sun loungers on our balcony.. The ship is very smart with several venues for drinks & entertainment..The crew were a mixed bag some obviously happier than others , we even ...

Thomson or Tui or Marella?

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Marella Discovery

Cruised previously with Thomson and loved it, now not been on this Tui ship before and what a contrast to previous cruises, don’t know wether it’s the company name or Thomson are just giving up on things that were good. Not a ruined cruise but things have changed for the worse in my opinion. Cons 1, one course of the main restaurant has been removed, I’m not bothered about this. 2, ...

We chose this cruise because of the interesting ports on the intinery. Sadly one of them, Barcelona, had to be missed due to the political situation of the time. That aside, we enjoyed our time on board the Discovery, the food in both 47 restaurants was on the whole very good and well presented although the portions were a little small on occasions especially the cheese board. The buffet ...

Only write a review when something has been really excellent or really poor. We've done 9 previous cruises all with Thomson in the last 5 years - the Spirit, Majesty, Island Escape, and our very favourite the Dream (4 times) and always had a great time. We don't ask for much - it doesn't spoil our holiday if I miss out on towel animals or chocolates on the pillow. All we want is a seat to eat ...

We had previously cruised with OV & when they were taken out of the UK cruise market we were left pondering who would fill their shoes for us. We enjoyed the relaxed, informal atmosphere that OV portrayed & the none of the other cruise lines appealed. We tried the Thomson Spirit, but something was lacking so we put cruising on hold for a while. Then we were pursuing cruise holidays & this ...

Trusted Thomson..... Having been on approx 12 cruises under the Thomson flag, starting many years ago with the good old Topaz. Have sailed on other ships, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Cunard, but Thomsons have always come out on top for value for money, food, entertainment, but most of all the friendliness of both staff and fellow passengers. Can't help but feel that Tui, Marella or whatever ...
