We chose this cruise because of the interesting ports on the intinery. Sadly one of them, Barcelona, had to be missed due to the political situation of the time. That aside, we enjoyed our time on board the Discovery, the food in both 47 restaurants was on the whole very good and well presented although the portions were a little small on occasions especially the cheese board. The buffet restaurant however was an absolute disgrace, the food was not hot at times and chaos seemed to rule regarding staff. No chemical products were ever used when cleaning either dining tables or service stations and the entire atmosphere resembled a works canteen. We visited once on the day we boarded for lunch and ate breakfast ther once as we needed to leave early that morning and that was more than enough. Tui. Really need to get their act together re this problem. The glass house was very respectable and the food and staff were excellent, as a result had lunch here most times as it is quite informal and very hygienic. The dress code in both47 restaurants was adhered to, we did see a few male guests turned away having turned up in shorts or vest tops.

Regarding hygiene on board. Tui really do their best here, there are hand sprays everywhere on board even when embarking and disembarking. The problem is that many guests completely disregarded them at times when waiters were not present to encourage their use.

Our first week was by far the best. On the second week there seemed to be a lot more passengers aboard making service in the bars quite slow and seating in short supply every night. We were informed at dinner tha quite a few people had won this particular week on Gala Bingo. More staff and seating needs to be available around the entertainment areas during times such as this, there were a lot of people trying to find seats every night. One really annoying situation arose when all of the fresh water was cut of due to a mechanical problem. Bearing in mind that bottles of water have to be paid for on this cruise this presented Avery real problem a t breakfast. There was no coffee or tea, no orange juice iin fact nothing to drink at all,,,,,,,but there was bottled water available at a price. Absolutely disgraceful Tui.

Cabin Review

Ok, comfortable and clean with plenty storage. Bed was clean and comfortable. No noise problems the first week but some passengers a bit noisy passin our cabin door at evenings.
