In this review of the Uniworld SS Sphinx, Splendors of Egypt and the Nile River cruise, in addition to the usual customer review, I will try and answer questions that I wondered about and could not find answers to before I went on the trip.
Arrival
Arrival in Cairo depends in part on the airline you take to fly into the city. For us, it was an easy entry into the arrivals area, with access ...
We booked our tour with Uniworld based on our previous experience with them. There was a problem with the air portion of our trip which Uniworld had arranged. However, once we got to Budapest everything was just what we have come to expect from Uniworld. The Maria Theresa is a beautiful ship with plenty of elegance to spoil you during your cruise. The staff was always on hand to do whatever was ...
Cruise was taken with a cousin to test if we could travel together after not having traveled together for 34 years. She had gotten a Viking brochure and realized I was the only one she knew who could afford it. Unfortunately, due to other plans I wasn’t available at the time but later approached her about this Uniworld cruise which had no single supplement plus was on sale. After looking at the ...
Basel to Amsterdam…an area we had not explored…last time on Uniworld was 2008….much improved since then, the cabin was a suite on Princess deck 4**, while pricey we enjoyed all the little perks like the well stocked frig, snacks, loads of storage for a river boat plus the little balcony. Tho for the most part the weather was typical of that time of year, cloudy followed by rain and more cloudy…the ...
What a fantastic itinerary on the Rhine River and I just loved this ship! She is small and compact but brings the destination on board with local meals and local wines. I would recommend this itinerary for anyone who wants to see lots of small towns and villages in Europe. The crew on our cruise were outstanding and the attention to detail in the dining room was very impressive. Our waitress ...
This was my second cruise with Uniworld. Staff is always good but corporate dropped the ball. I was told by staff that the lock on the Rhône between Avignon and Tain L’Hermitage had been broken since March 8. Our Cruise left on 3/19 and we were not told about it. You can also read about it on the French website CNR. There is no timeline to fix it. So we had to ride on a bus one day almost 4 hrs ...
I had served in Viet Nam in 1969-70, so I wanted to return and see the country. We started our trip in Hanoi, so it was very strange to be up where our “enemies” lived. The people were great!
The history, as the communist country of Viet Nam depicted, was tainted to make them as being very gracious to our soldiers while they were there in prison at the Hanoi Hilton. Getting past ...
One of the best vacations we've had in a long time. A Nile River Cruise has been on our bucket list and this did not disappoint. From the moment we were met at Cairo Airport everything was well organised - the Four Seasons Hotel in Cairo was very good, our room was spacious and comfortable and the Riviera Italian restaurant was very good.
Service on ship was good, staff friendly and helpful. ...
We’d been to Egypt several times over the years, and wanted to return.
We spotted an advertisement for a Uniworld cruise on the Nile that seemed to include so much, plus a few days in Cairo.
It turned out to be a fantastic trip, with everything one could possibly want included: business class air fare, 5 star Cairo hotel, daily fully guided tours, meal time drinks and , of course, an ...
We are from the UK and saw a TV programme hosted by a well known cruise ship singer-cum-TV presenter, Jane McDonald. It looked like a fabulous trip so we rang the tour operator (Global River Cruising) and asked to book the same suite we'd seen in the TV programme. Two years later we set off to New Delhi. The tour spends the first 5 nights seeing New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur and staying in superb ...
