Pleasant but lackluster

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Norwegian Star

We had an unexpected two weeks off and asked our travel agent to find a good deal for a cruise. The travel agent found a Norwegian cruise on the Norwegian Star leaving Southampton on October 23, 2023. We had never sailed with Norwegian before and were open to trying it out. We've sailed previously with Carnival, Celebrity, Oceania, Princess and Royal Caribbean. We have not cruised since 2018 so we ...

I flew from Houston to London and arrived the day before the cruise. I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Heathrow and would highly recommend it. This was my first time on P&O Cruises. It mainly caters to British cruisers and many of the passengers I met have only cruised P&O. Their website states that their Elegant Nights are very formal. Many of the men wore tuxes, but some wore a jacket ...

Not really a Fjords cruise.....

Overall I had a lovely holiday, I always try to write reviews that are honest and hopefully help other people make decisions about their holidays. I will say this is only my second cruise - my first was in 2020 with Costa to Madagascar. I am by no means a cruise expert, but I do travel abroad at least twice a year, So i hope this helps you in some way. We booked in January the " BRAND NEW ...

1st cruise post covid, we had this trip booked for September 2020 which was cancelled. Three of us travelling in 2 balcony cabins, part of celebrating my mums 80th birthday. Husband and I have completed a number of cruises on Princess, RCI, Celebrity & P&O. Boarding was one of the slickest we have experienced, 30 mins from arrival at port to being on the ship, we did arrive near to our ...

Impressive ship but way too crowded

My partner and I booked this cruise after being on one in February with NCL. We fell in love with cruising and couldn't wait another year until the next one. We found a great deal on Iglu for the MSC Virtuosa to the Norwegian Fjords. We had certain expectations going onto the cruise based on what we'd experienced with NCL which left us slightly disappointed. We received an embarkation time of ...

We just wrapped up a cruise to the Norwegian Fjords on MSC Virtuosa. It departed from Southampton. It was our first time on MSC and our first time on a large ship; capacity was around 6,000 guests. The ship was built in 2020 and first sailed in 2021. Virtuosa was full of things to do and the main promenade was pretty. The pool and solarium were always crowded, since I estimate half the guests ...

Sounded like an interesting itinerary. However, every port was pretty much like the last. Due to a booking glitch, we were unable to pre-booked most of the excursions, which were listed as "sold out" when we tried to book on-board. That was actually a good thing....as we were able to do all of the excursions when we arrived at the ports for a considerable difference in price. I have always ...

For our first cruise, there were positive experiences, including the (expensive) onshore excursions to the stunning Norwegian scenery, the good choice of on board food and dining, the lovely flowers and gifts from Fred Olsen Cruises for our silver wedding anniversary, and the high standard of housekeeping in our room by our cabin stewardess. Unfortunately there were many negative experiences ...

Buckle in, this is a long one.  I'll also be posting it to the cruise reviews section. BACKGROUND This is coming from the perspective of a couple in their sixties who used to cruise quite a bit (Royal Caribbean, Princess, even 1 Carnival cruise (ugh), up until we caught norovirus during a Princess cruise which included Egypt back in 2011 and swore we would never cruise again. This is a ...
