Sail Date: Aug 2023

We just wrapped up a cruise to the Norwegian Fjords on MSC Virtuosa. It departed from Southampton. It was our first time on MSC and our first time on a large ship; capacity was around 6,000 guests. The ship was built in 2020 and first sailed in 2021.

Virtuosa was full of things to do and the main promenade was pretty. The pool and solarium were always crowded, since I estimate half the guests were kids - last trip before back-to-school. Evening shows were good - Broadway style, pop music and dance, comedians (funny), and solo singers. As long as you got there a bit early, you could get a great seat. It was easy to make reservations. I would have liked it if we could bring in a drink.

Excursions were good - we mainly did bus, boat and walking tours. Flam was our favorite - beautiful! And we had sunny weather for all 4 stops. They all ran over by an hour, so we barely got lunch upon returning to the ship.

Cabin Review

Our cabin was new with all of the usual amenities and nice new things like soft-close drawers and a larger shower. We were on deck 13 - a bit of a walk to get anywhere. The only negative about our cabin was that we could hear the chairs scraping on the floor from 2 floors above us in the buffet at all hours.

Port Reviews

What a beautiful place! Our bus and ferry excursion was good. The railway was sold out - would have enjoyed that too.
