After many hours traveling to Havana and then hours in immigration , we had expected better. Transfer was in an ageing Transit Van! The ship, at last, the cabin, the deluxe cabin the size of a postage stamp. Next dinner, don't even go there - horrific. Good job I like bread as I was going to have to get used to it. Captain, was arrogant! Rude and obnoxious, needs to be keel hawled for poor service. Oh and watch out for the the chimney smuts that cover you from the back of the ship. DON'T do it. Cost a fortune and very poor. Pity the crew. Read Less

Thomson Dream a disaster from beginning to end. Two ports missed in as many weeks. Then the canteen staff began to take the mickey by singing a Caribbean song with the words changed to having missed ports again. Had noro virus on board the previous week and had to be served in self service canteen. When I asked for a couple of bread rolls and beef for lunch I was offered a slice of beef about 1inch by three which left me flabbergasted? The Orion restaurant was no better, had to wait 30 minutes for 2 cold puddings and after 20 minutes waiting to be asked if we wanted tea or coffee decided to have it elsewhere. All this time the waiter was chatting to travellers who were disembarking the next day, looking for tips which he persisted with until he was offered money. However my worst complaint was the rock hard bed which had to be endured for 2 weeks I was in agony, no spare mattresses I was told, does beg the question as to what happens if someone has an accident? In the past, when I saw one star reviews for vacations I asked myself how people can do that for 5 star hotels. Well, here I am writing my one star (or should be 0) for this Cruise. First of all, I have to say that I loved Cuba. I went to cuba with very low expectations, I was in a resort in Varadero the week before the cruise and the experience was excellent, including the resort, the people, the service, the room and even the food. My main purpose for the cruise was to visit Cuba after a week in the beach...but I didn't see much of cuba. Excursions were completely disorganized. The Cruise Director is a clown, and a bad one. And when you put a Clown together with a Salsa dancer that only knows how to count to four to organize 120 people in 4 buses, that's what you get. A hour and a half delay. In addition the boat was always delayed. They always blame the weather (even the day that the cruise didn't sail). The only day that we were on time the joker woke us at 7:20am to call everybody take the temperature even if the disembarking was at 9, and they didn't even took our names or cabin numbers. The end of the story is that you lose most of your time in port because they are extremely disorganized, plus Cuba customs. They take you on a 3 hours tour where they want them to take you and you don't have extra time to do anything on your own. One example of what to expect was at Maria la Gorda. Like many other people, I was prepared with hiking gear to go to a natural reserve. Instead, we were 3 hours on a bus that took us to a place that was...nothing. Only and old lighthouse on the other side of the fence. I asked about changing that excursion for diving, it was u$s 165 for only one tank on a choppy day, when regular price for 2 tanks is $49 in Cuba and they will refund you if there's bad weather. About the cruise. This is a refurbished ferry that was burned and crashed an oil tanker (Do your own research on this one). It might be ok as a ferry, but It cannot handle very well the conditions in Cuba, it was a little bit windy but it was sunny all the time, standard weather for Cuba at this time of the year. I can't imagine it with a real storm, even a minor one. So expect it to move, and a lot. First I got an inside cabin, if you can call it a cabin. It was not even half the size of a small cruise cabin. I upgraded (after having to pay, and they are very good at getting your money) to an outside cabin. The carpets were stained and didn't look modern. the washroom had problems most of the time. Also the air conditioning was unpredictable. Food was college cafeteria grade. At the buffet, there were always the same, breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food seemed to come from Greece more than a month before, nothing was fresh at all. Fruits were mainly canned. They advertise that they serve Alberta beef, but I only seen overcooked pork and chicken. Also they changed the dinner plan to open seating. First day I was refused to enter one of the restaurants. They said it was booked by a group for the next 5 days, but other people got in. I got in the next day. Both restaurants serve exactly the same. Sometimes you have to wait 45 minutes, or go to the buffet. Entertainment was always the same, not much entertaining. On the positive side. After the shows, the band stayed playing and they were really good. Read Less

This tiny ship could be a small jewel---it is not. A sunken ferry, ra1sed and refurbished, the very small state rooms remain with the single beds joined into one. With no guard rails nor T-bar [to fit between the two mattress] the mattress separate, especially in turbulence, leaving a 4-5inch gap, making spooning with your spouse impossible. The cruise is made semi-successful by a wonderful crew [the arrogant Captain who crashed us into the Havana dock excepted]. The international staff was attentive and can not be praised enough. The food quality was appalling. Out of approx 100 servings between my wife and myself, only 3 were palatable [the lamb shank, the pasta carbonara, and the roasted Canadian bacon]. Most meat was mystery meat of uncertain origin. Even the hamburgers were at least 40% soymeal in the best scenario, 40% sawdust in the worst. At every corner you were nickeled and dimed --even pizza cost extra. Drink packages were required, even if you don't drink; the wine was of the lowest Greek quality. As a final blow, at least 50% of the passengers were ill at disembarkation. It was apparently not Noro virus but caused many trips to the infirmary. For $203 dollars, you received a CBC, flu test, exam and placebo meds. What a deal!! The PTP excursions were led by enthusiastic and well-educated guides. Most started early [8:30 AM] but then actually began after an hour of waiting, often on hard concrete. The Cuban people we met were personable but could not hide the misery and poverty in which they live. The largest portion of Havana is slums with poor water and sewage systems; the other cities are similar. So we do not expect to return to Cuba. If we do, it certainly will not be on this cruise line. I wanted to see Cuba before it is flooded with tourist and MacDonalds on every corner. The crew has not been trained and they very unhelpful to the passage's. Their English was very limited if any at all. The two people who made the public address announcements could not be understood ( a male & female voices ). The excursions were not very planned. They took the people to typical tourist trap places of businesses. The food on board was terrible. It was the same overcooked food every day of the trip. The Ocean Grill was very good with a decent menu but it was an extra $25.00 per person. Would I used this cruise line again? NO NO The Fantom Cruise line web site is very misleading and the times are all wrong. We departed Miami at dock J and nothing was said about our docking back in Miami. We returned to dock E and were informed of this the night before arriving back into port of Miami. Cars that were parked at the departure dock were a mile away from where we arrived. Had to wait for a shuttle bus to get back to our car. Read Less

My husband and I were very excited to visit Cuba before any changes started occurring. Taking the Fathom's philosophy of people to people and sailing on the Adonia appealed to us. The sessions on Cuba's history were very interesting and gave lots of information. The food quality I would also give a poor rating as all of the main dishes were overcooked, dry and difficult to cut.... pretty impossible to imagine shrimp being difficult to cut. Excursions: We had been instructed not to give anything to the street people, and it was stressed in many seminars as to Fathom's beliefs about this. Yet, on our tour of Santiago de Cuba, our guide had no ability to enforce this and the group was encircled by those looking for a hand out. Finally a uniformed officer had to step in and chase them away. The whole group was quite intimidated with the situation. Havana and Cienfuegos were fascinating and most of the guides were eager to talk to Americans and answer our questions as honestly as they could. Seeing Cuba was the highlight of the trip, and we would do it again, just not on the Adonia. When we became ill the last day at sea, we found out the ship had an outbreak of norovirus. We were confined to our cabin and not allowed to disembark with the other passengers. We were kept over 2 hours before we could leave with minimal assistance with our luggage to get to the terminal. Quite a sour note to end the week on. Read Less

I decided to treat my husband to a Caribbean Criuse for his 60th birthday. It was his first cruise and unfortunately he has decided will be his last. I had looked at the ship on line on YouTube and what we experienced bore no resemblance to what was shown on the video. We were booked into an outside, at extra cost, cabin 5143. Walking through the corridor to the cabin there was a definite foul odour. The view through the cabin window was marred by the rusted frame work. The cabin was cleaned regularly by the cabin staff, however, we had problems with the toilet which was constantly leaking from the back. Three days in there were problems when the toilet stopped flushing. This was reported and fixed. The smell of effluence remained in the corridor throughout the cruise. The air conditioning in our room which was directly above our bed and was very fierce. The engineer was called to adjust it on more than one occasion. At night we could not sleep from constant rattling and scratching noises which we thought was coming from outside the cabin and was in fact coming from the lighting above our heads my husband had to stuff a cushion between the ceiling and frame to get some rest. The ship appears tired and rundown throughout and should be taken out of commission. Lifts between floors do not work efficiently and appear creaking. The Lido deck was dirty and unkept. Tables were placed ad hoc with rubber mats that were obviously placed for the table to sit were out of place and left worn and dirty. There was nowhere to sit on decks the areas around the pool were over crowded with deck chairs everywhere. Tables on deck were left uncleared. My husband had to clear away trays and plates in order for us to sit down. On other deck where there were seats there was smoking as non smokers we could not sit there. We chose to eat in the Orion restaurant the staff were very cheery, however, we waited 15-20 minutes between courses at evening meals. Breakfast our toast would be brought to the table and go cold whilst we waited for the breakfast to arrive which was on more than one occasion the wrong order. On deck drinks staff avoided coming over to you and we had to go to the bar. Having ordered a fruit punch cream was added without my asking for it when I sent this back it was returned to me in the same plastic beaker with the cream still obviously in the drink. The drinks steward was not pleased when I took it back to be changed I had to give it to a different server. The itinerary was changed at the last minute, we missed going to Grand Cayman. This was extremely disappointing as we had never been there before and we were hoping to visit family. We were instead taken back to Jamaica where we had already spent 7 nights of our trip. We were taken to Ocho Rios, the ship docked in what was an industrial loading area, far away from the town and the other cruise ships. We were told free transport was offered to Dunn's River Falls. No other option was given. The Falls cost $20 US each. It was Boxing Day and was crowded with tourists and residents queuing to get in. We would not travel with Thomson Cruises again. Read Less

We crafted our whole 5 week holiday from Australia around this cruise. It all sounded so fabulous that we were prepared to make significant concessions with our other travel arrangements to work with the cruise dates. Unfortunately, the ship only stopped at one port in 7 days and that was only for a few hours. For a cruise that is billed as a cruise of Cuba it's ironic to say that this stop was not even in Cuba, but in Grand Cayman. We got off the ship but no one bothered to give us even a map, or tell us what we could do there, so we wandered around aimlessly for a few hours. (I should say that we had booked to do the Stingray City tour with the boat but they cancelled it and warned us that we should not take the trip with anyone else once on shore.) There were so many excuses made for not adhering to the itinerary - the whether and the Cuban authorities, being the most offered. Those excuses are very hollow when you have paid several thousand dollars for effectively a cruise to nowhere. On board there were not enough sun lounges and those which were there were taken from early morning, by people placing their belongings on them and then leaving for hours. I know of one very unpleasant showdown which could have caused World War 111 between Germany and England. The "fun" on board activities consisted of learning to fold napkins and towels, or listen to how great the Star Clipper Experience was, which was even further infuriating. The library only held a few people at a time and there were only very boring activities there anyway, when they were scheduled. The two pools, which are comical descriptions of what they were (more like spa tubs for a few people) always seemed to be without water. I accept that the food was fine -although there was not a trace of Cuban or even Caribbean cuisine. The wait staff, who we were advised were to be tipped significantly according to the instructions, were indifferent. Overall this cruising experience was a disaster. Star Clippers should really consider whether they want to operate this route. Read Less

Ship not stable in ocean rough water. Ship had large bowls of sea sickness medicine for passengers to help themselves! Too many days at sea! Numerous changes in itinerary and not punctual on tours . Told what time to be back on bus and even guides were late. Often hard to hear guides when off the buses. Best highlight of cruise, buses were new, clean, and had bathrooms! Pearl often cancelled planned tours, and never told passengers. Medical on ship not adequate, and passengers taken to local hospitals in each port before all other passengers could get off ship. Food only adequate. The staff were very nice and tried to be helpful. What we saw in Cuba was not a disappointment, but Pearl was terrible! The ending of the trip Pearl employees dropped our friends luggage in the water when FINALLY arriving back in Ft. Lauderdale. Have been on numerous cruises, and by far this the worst, and very expensive! Would never go on another Pearl Cruise! Read Less

We were participants in a university alum travel group. It was appealing to explore Cuba while having a floating hotel. We love cruising and this was our first time on Le Ponant. The staff was outstanding - each was friendly and knew our names in no time. We were disappointed in the food and with the bed in the cabin. The snack food during happy hour was the best food on the trip. Since this is a French ship, we expected wonderful food - that was not the case. It was as if they were trying too hard to do something complicated and missed the mark time after time. The focus was on seafood with few other options. Even the seafood was mediocre. Additionally, dinner was served late and took forever to complete. This was a group who had a full itinerary every day with early starts and an earlier dinner with a faster pace would have been appreciated. The bed was miserable - it was hard as a rock. I was in pain all night and as I arose. I had them add extra padding on top but it did nothing to change the level of comfort. The room itself was fine although small, the bathroom fine. There were 2 channels on the TV (CNN and sports) as well as movie selections. The shore excursions were through the university travel group. The ship had no responsibility for those. This was true of the enrichment lectures as well. All in all, we are glad to have made the trip to explore Cuba. We would not travel on Le Ponant again. Read Less

This is a very hard one to score. The vessel is a sailing cruise ship (barquentine) which takes a maximum of 170 guests. It is extremely well-appointed and the crew are enthusiastic and attentive. We would particularly comment on the outstanding food which was served throughout our 7-day cruise. So far, it rates 5 stars. The problem was that it failed to deliver us to several of the destinations advertised. Some while before our holiday, we were informed that the Cuban authorities had revoked cruise ship licences to two of the islands and, instead, we would have to spend an additional night in each of Havana and Cienfuegos. (There was no evidence that the company had tried to substitute some different islands). Neither Havana nor Cienfuegos were appealing to us as we had already built more than enough time in those locations into our itinerary but, by then, it was too late to change our other travel plans. So, before the holiday starts, we have effectively lost two days. We embarked on Saturday afternoon, sailed Monday evening and were due to visit our first stop, Punta Francis, on the Tuesday morning. On arrival at Punta Francis, we were advised that the Port Authorities were unable to clear us in as their car had broken down. The company was unable to resolve this problem so we had now lost the third of our five stops. The company blames the Cuban authorities, but we now understand that this is quite common (we were told by staff that this was the third time in the last four visits to Punta Francis that guests were unable to go ashore) yet we were never warned of this possibility. The company needs to understand that travelling on the Star Flyer is an experience but not the end in itself. And it needs to come clean about the likelihood that they will not be able to deliver what they advertise in their brochure. The whole point for us was to visit some outlying parts of Cuba in addition to the main towns and cities. Instead, we sailed from Havana to Cienfuegos, stopping in one position which allowed us to visit just two different beaches. Overall, a hugely expensive disappointment. Read Less

I chose this because I wanted to see Cuba before it was spoilt. Ship was old, no use to disabled. Every seat in the restaurant was either broken or badly repaired. The entertainment was awful. Singers couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket and the three “comedians” we had all told the same jokes to different degrees of bad. The ship rocked and rolled even when tied up in port. One night was particularly bad and I was the only one on our table for ten who rocked up for dinner; the dining room was practically empty and it still took over two hours to serve me. The food was ok but, extremely small portions and an excess of courgettes. It was downright dangerous. The hospital did extremely well with all the broken bones. Food and drinks flew off the table and the tables and chairs flew as well in the buffet. This was about my 30th cruise (1st with CMV and last) the worst I have ever had. The painting course was very expensive although the crafters were very good value and some useful items produced. No launderette. Very few pubic toilets. I rang them to take me off their mailing list - I wouldn’t go with them again even if they offered me a world cruise for free!, Read Less

We chose this cruise for the Havana destination. The shore excursions in Havana and Cozumel were just vehicles for the tour guides to take us to remote shops so he / she could earn commissions. In Cozumel we spent one hour at the destination on an 8 hour tour. We made several stops to taste tequila and chocolate. We won't ever book a ship based tour again. The tour in Belize, however, the Wallace River tour was excellent. The guides were very knowledgeable and professional. Wallace River was a great tour. We could not turn the A/C off in our room, it was freezing. The crew had been working on it before we got on board (the ceiling tile was down for the entire trip) but they couldn't fix it. What more can we say? The food in the dining room was very mediocre. I've been on many RCCL cruises in the past, this was below their previous standards. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it went to Cuba. In retrospect we should have chosen a cruise that was in Cuba longer and gone to more ports. The disembarkation was late by 2 hours and very disorganized. The front desk did not have many answers and the front desk staff was rude. The only information we picked up was the NCL shore excursions had priority over other passengers. This late embarkation cost us 2 hours because we hired a private guide with a 1952 Chevy. We did like the entertainment on the ship. The shows were amateurish and the singing and dancing were not good. Some of the activities seemed geared to drinking ( the sexy man dancing contest) by the pool. The only activity we enjoyed was the salsa dancing lesson. The room was dated because it did not have enoug outlets for our devices. The layout of the Sky was confusing and there were not enough maps of the ship posted. We did manage to get lost a few times. We felt that the shore excursions were way overpriced, and decided to book our own tours. This worked out well because we got to see much more, and we didn't have to wait for people to board the bus. The show at the Tropicana was fabulous. Read Less

Please share this post with your friends to stay away from The Norwegian Sky and probably all of NCL. There are better cruise lines and ways to travel to Cuba that won't be a health hazard. There is a reason this ship is all inclusive free booze. It's so folks get so drunk they don't notice the stench or care. I was sleeping on the pull out - so I pulled back the mattress and saw that the sides contained other people's hair and food and there were towels shoved under neath the couch part. After speaking to guest services twice (and being told there wasn't an extra room for me to sleep for the night) they said they would move the bed out, clean it, and return it. When they moved it and flipped it up it was covered in mold, the carpet was wet where couch had been, and the towels shoved in there were PURPOSELY placed there covered in febreeze to hide the mold smell. The assistant head housekeeper offered to febreeze the area and put me right back sleeping in the SAME SPOT even though the mold smell now emanating in the room was over powering to the point you could not breathe. Suddenly guest services appeared and there was now magically a room right across the hall available. The next day the executive housekeeper showed up to apologize - they moved us to a third room which they said was an upgrade but we declined because it was a room the same size with bunk beds and that smelled like mold as well. I actually had to ask him to provide us with a complimentary dinner since we had spent so much time moving and they had attempted to sell a room that should have been shut down and rehabbed. So imagine my surprise when we were leaving the ship today and that room had a couch now set up covering the same place where the black mold was and a humidifier facing it. NO Carpet pulled out or even the humidifier facing the empty carpet. But just a couch hiding the same problem. Oh and did I mention when they also moved the couch some other passenger's bloody tissue fell out???!!! So if anyone is getting room 7111 it is a health hazard. And if you are sailing on NCL better check under your mattresses and couches for disgusting stuff lurking. The only thing the Sky had going for it was really strong dancers and singers and a great comedian. Agian not enough to sleep in filth though. Read Less

The excursion tour of Key West was also worth the price. The tour guide explained in detail the city and it's history. The dining experience on the Empress of the Seas was a great experience by two of the best Waiters Jesus and Valento. They made the voyage worth experience. We must say, as a Royal Caribbean Platinum card members, the dining on this cruise was excellent. We have been on larger ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet and the dining service on the Empress of the Seas was equal to or better than any. We also enjoyed the entertainment on the Empress especially the headline shows. The last night musical variety was excellent to say the least. I would highly recommend the Havana, Cuba cruise. The food on the ship was terrible both at the buffet and the sit down restaurants. The quality of the food was as poor as some of the buffets you may expect to find at a low end Las Vegas hotel. I was also extremely dissatisfied with the Cuban Rum and Cigar factory excursion that I took. I sat on a bus for 3 hours and unfortunately every factory on our itinerary was closed! Cuba does not allow tours of the Cigar factory and the rum factory was close for a remodel. I spoke to the excursion manager and he stated that he would note my account and give me a full refund when we returned to land, but that did not happen. This cruise fit our vacation schedule with Mexico and Cuba on our bucket list. After that, the vacation went downhill. Purchased through Costco Travel, worst vacation we have taken in recent memory. Room Horrible, room steward was courteous and did his best to assist us. Smelled like sewage in the room as well as the sheets. Room Bathroom The actual bathroom was severely cramped with the urine odor being unbearable. Shelf space was not utilized in the bathroom as the boat rocked, at times aggressively and the shelves were located immediately above the toilet. Dining Had our family split between two tables the first night. After one meal in the dining room we ate from the buffet the rest of the cruise. Food was subpar to mediocre at best. Ship Activities Frequently closed so for a small ship with little to do, spent much of our time on deck or in our room. Kids as well as other guests we met were stir-crazy. Kids program Room smelled like a wrestling team was trying to make weight, musty and poorly kept. Wouldn't leave my dog in their much less my daughter. Took one look a never looked back. Staff Friendly when approached but overall somewhat rude. It is evident they are not happy to do what they are doing. Exception may be the bartenders who overall were friendly and helpful. Mexico/Key West Safe, normal port experience, enjoyable Cuba Honestly we expected to be "hassled", this was almost scary how little security was present, both local and from the ship/customs. My family and I are silver latitude members on NCL and we chose this cruise for several reasons 1) we really like NCL 2) because it was the only one going to Cuba and 3) my husband and I were celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary on July 3rd and we always book vacations during that time of the year. Of all the cruises we've taken on NCL this was the worst one. When booking this cruise with an NCL agent back in March 2017, I was not told this was one of their oldest ships (1999) and not fully renovated. I booked a forward facing penthouse suite (Room #S-8002) with a butler and concierge and our 24 year old son was also supposed to join us. The room we got was far from a penthouse suite, it was more like large balcony suite and I was told that the room we had was one of the two best rooms on the ship, however, the pictures that are posted on the NCL site for the room I booked and other "higher end" rooms, are not the same rooms on the ship - completely false advertising. My suite was old with wooden panels, had a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom that did not work, the knobs on the tub were filthy with mold and nasty green sludge, a piece of duct tape was holding the top of closet up so it would not open at random. The guests who took this cruise prior to the July 3rd date, were celebrities and apparently they were allowed to break all the rules and smoke in the rooms. I suffer from chronic migraines and therefore I suffered the entire week with massive headaches from the strong smell of the cigars that were smoked in my suite. I had to ask our housekeeper to change the sheets the first day before we even slept on them. Also the on boarding process was a completely disorganized and we did not receive our luggage until 7:30pm that evening which meant I had to push back our dinner reservations at one of the specialty restaurants that I paid extra for because we could not even take a shower and change our clothes due to our luggage arriving so late to our room. I constantly complained at the front desk, asked to speak to the hotel manager on board but was denied and reverted back to my concierge who really did not help much. The food in the speciality dining restaurants was good with the exception of the French restaurant, Le Bistro, however the food in the main dining room was awful - the worst that I've ever had on an NCL cruise. My son was unfortunately not able to join us on this vacation at the last minute due to the fact that there was a tragic shooting at the medical facility he works at a few days prior to the cruise and his superiors then revoked everyone's scheduled time off because all hands on deck were needed. I explained that to the NCL rep when I called 3 days prior to the cruise but was told no refunds would be issued until after we arrive back home and I was told to contact the Guest Relations Desk to make them aware of my complaints and the fact that my son could not/did not join us, which I did on July 8th, however, it's been over a month and I am still waiting to hear back from them. This trip cost us $6500 and was not worth it at all. I'm mostly upset about the fact that I feel NCL falsely advertised their rooms by placing photos of suites that are from another upgraded ship on their site for the Sky, the food was awful, they have yet to address my issues about the cigar smoke in the suite, the disgusting condition of bathroom in the suite and the fact that they are not taking into consideration the tragic shooting at my son's work place that is not being taken in to consideration. I would like a refund of my $6500 because honestly, after this experience with NCL, I'm not sure I will book another vacation with them again especially because of the way they are handling my issues - which is very unprofessionally. Do yourself a favor, do not book a trip on The Sky - choose another cruise line! Read Less

wanted to experience havana Cuba Room was not what was displayed on website (bed pushed against wall- had to climb over person to get out) room (and many areas of ship) smelled like sewage- poor temperature control. Poor service in dining room- waiter unfamiliar with menu, did not offer coffee or tea and when request came late. food room temp, and poor selection. Reserved birthday celebration on specific night- waiter asked if we wanted it and ruined surprise for my girls. We never got the candles or singing for her sweet sixteen celebration. Did not pull into the ports of call until after 12/1 pm. even though not far away Poorly rated entertainment. The windjammer- advertised ice cream each night, signage was placed incorrectly- they did not have. No omelette station at breakfast. No cookies at midnight. A serious mistake that may have tarnished our entire relationship with Royal Caribbean. We are Diamond Plus members and wanted to celebrate our 35th year wedding anniversary on- board the same ship we started our love affair with cruising - 25 years before - on our 10th anniversary. Usually cruise lines use the shorter cruises as hooks for longer trips. I cannot begin to express our disappointment and frustrations with incredibly poor service everywhere - Dining room, ship, activities - even purser's desk! The entire ship needs to have a serious retrofit. Worn out furniture in the cabins, frail towels, painted and badly kept outdoor rusts just signal lack of care. The last straw for us was the dining room staff. So rude and don't waste your time with the entire concept of 'my Time dining' - what a joke! when we arrived for our dinner, we were told that we needed to go and come back an hour and half later! ' my time dining' means - their time and not ours! Just do not fall for the beautiful advertising - Not what you will receive. And it will consistently keep you wondering that may be its not available at the level that you purchased. that's not customer service - that's classifying - and not worth it, Read Less

We chose this cruise to go to Cuba. Not impressed with the ship or cruise line. everything costs extra money, or is a sales pitch to buy something else. The ship is a small boat built in 1990 and "refurbished" for these cruises. They painted over the rust, threw down some carpet and fancy fixtures, but it is still an old ship. Not very smooth at sea. When the ship was cruising at slower speeds it rocked back and forth with the waves (which were not that big). SMALL rooms. Small pool(only one). No activities for teenagers. Overpriced shore excursions. Go off ship and find your own for half the price. Tricked into buying drink package from cruise line. told us we had to use the shore excursions to go into Cuba. The breakfast was cold. The scrambled eggs were always runny. The kids had to go to the bar to get drinks refilled. Havana was amazing. great friendly people. Read Less

Chose this cruise due to price and location. Had a Jr. Balcony Suite. This room had a very poor.. There was a refrigerator in the middle of the closet, thus no room to hang clothes unless they were to lean against the frig. The safe was on the floor had to get down on a knee to use. Then if following the instructions that were with the safe was not the way I was showed how to use the safe. Maybe saw the cabin steward twice the whole week and it was at least day 3 before even knew if room steward was male or female! Had sign in room if left towel hanging then would not change, but changed every time. The trash cans were the ones with step on lids, what a pain. The toilet paper holder was a reach for even me a tall person, the the end of the roll is looped inside the roller!. The front desk could never really answer any questions! The food variety was a little to be desired! The fact that you had to pay to get a hamburger was astonishing and no ice cream outside restaurant without paying. The activities were a joke, no prizes, except you got to keep your answer sheet! We only saw the cruise director when she introduced the shows! They would leave a polish on the hand rails so after you came down the stairs your hands would be black! The way they did the white drink package was totally a mystery as to why it worked the way it did. For every time you ordered a drink they had to scan the card even if you were still in the same location. The excursions were good you just never knew how long they were going to last, The disembarkation was a real joke as you did not know what time you were to depart and when they made an announcement you could not hear ir even setting in a lounge! We took this cruise to see Cuba for the first time. It was very disappointing for the following: Norwegian Sky charges the highest daily service charge, $18.99 per day per person. Yet the services were sub-par. Since the services charge is billed automatically, the staff take the "just doing the job" attitude. For example, in the buffet area, often, one must fetch some staff to clean the dirty table left by previous diner before sitting down. The Bar Services are inconsistent, same drink ordered at different times had varied ingredients, often too little or too much alcohol, Complaint about room drainage problem was unanswered. For entertainment, the comedian randomly picked on ethic members of the audience so that people were laughing at one and others, a cheap form of entertaining. For Customer Service Desk, one must ask the precise question. no one volunteers any information or try to be helpful. Mistakes on billing were often. It took several trips to the long-lined Customers Services Desk to fix the mistakes. Read Less

I am a seasoned cruiser and have done approx 15 cruises on Carnival and a couple on Celebrity. This was my first NCL cruise. I honestly was just looking for a quick getaway and to see Cuba -- my standards were not that high. Through a series of unfortunate events, I wound up traveling solo, so paid a VERY high rate for a single, inside room. I read the reviews that this was an older ship, and wasn't too concerned, as I really felt like I wouldn't be on the ship much or even in my room that often. And I am not a picky eater or a foodie. That being, said, my experience was a nightmare an instead of a luxury vacation, I truly felt more like I was glamping instead of on a cruise ship! As you will see from the picture below, there was a horrible plumbing problem in my room that began the first night, and they were not able to fix throughout the length of the cruise. Basically, I had black water coming out of my shower and faucet, making the plumbing in my room unusable. The family in the room next to me had the same issue, and they were able to relocate them, but I was stuck, as I was told that they were sold out and there was no other room to move me to. So basically, I was walking around the ship every day in my pajamas with my toothbrush and toiletries looking for a place to shower and wash up. Sometimes it was the pool deck; sometimes it was a public restroom near the casino. One day I got lucky and met someone on an excursion who took pity on me and let me use her shower in her room. And the front desk made no effort to compensate me. They sent a bottle of wine to the room (Which I sent back -- I don't drink alcohol at all!) and they sent a few pieces of fruit (umm --- there is a buffet on the 11th floor -- if I wanted an apple or banana, I'd go get one...thank you.). It was an absolute nightmare. Also, the refrigerator didnt work, just adding insult to injury. When the ship returned to Miami, I have tried in vain to reach someone in NCL's corporate office and nobody will respond. I keep getting automated emails saying "we will respond via email in 15 days". Unacceptable. The food? The clearly push the pay restaurants HARD, so the food in the main dining rooms is sub-standard. I've never been on a cruise where they serve the same things every single night. And bizarre, cheap, carb-heavy things, too...lasagna, spaghetti, rotisserie chicken, sliders. I eat very healthy, and couldn't get a shrimp cocktail or piece of grilled shrimp. I ate the same things every single night -- I ordered the rotisserie chicken and picked off the skin. I literally couldn't find anything else on the menu that II could eat. It was THAT bad.And the dessert menu they present it the same every single night. Apparently, if you want the "good stuff" (that is standard on other cruise lines) you have to go to the pay restaurants. And even the "ice cream bar"....they have 2 self serve stations, and each one has the same two flavors of ice cream -- vanilla and chocolate -- no toppings, no yogurt. I'd hardly advertise that as an "ice cream bar". It's like NCL does the bare minimum required -- everything else will cost you extra. It's a shame. Never again for me. I'm off to call my credit card company to see if they can offer me relief since nobody from NCL will respond to me. I will also be posting these pictures to all of social media. Read Less
