Okay Ship, but tired Old Gal

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Sun

Our first cruise on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship. The Sun is the smallest cruise ship we have cruised on, so it was quite different than all others. That being said and "supposedly" being "updated" in 2016, the old lady is definitely showing her age in a day of newer, bigger, better cruise ships. Many pro's and con's to the Sun. PRO'S: Smaller ship Great itinerary for Alaska, ...

I'm a Celebrity fan and chose this ship due to the itinerary, size and the views! The crew was awesome, friendly and very fun. The bartenders were somewhat slow and the ship definitely needs to add more, especially during the events in the Constellation lounge. It was ridiculous how long it took to get a drink. And several were in slow motion all the time. Very frustrating, and yet the ...

Alaska cruise was on bucket list. Friend did NCL last year and recommended it. Should have known better when he said he spent most of cruise with an acupuncturist. Cabin was great but closet hard to use as too close to bed. Otherwise great for the price. Balcony a must and we used it to get away from the hoards and see whales and Glacier Bay. And it was quiet. So quiet we could not hear ...

Free drinks with the HAL means a poor choice of low quality wines with excellent food. This is not a good combination. Even with a group of 7 guests ( 7 x $ 9 = $63) they do not offer you to order a bottle or 2 with a better quality. The free drinks package means 15 drinks. Max per drink is $ 9. They don’t offer you the premium package if you booked explore 4 in advance !. For a suite if you ...

This was a first time cruise for us so we have nothing to compare it to. The pros were organized arrival and deporting.lugguge arrived to room safely. Room steward Ranoldo was great throughout cruise. Dining room dinners were great. Everyone in our group wished there was an in between from the dining room and buffet. also the bar we enjoyed did not allow food. we thought that was weird .Cons. ...

Our first cruise, to see the wild life in Alaska was on our bucket list. We were not so sure about cruising being in close confines with lots of people for a week. However, we needn't have worried! We met many lovely people and enjoyed conversing but there was also plenty of space and varieties of venues to share together. One favourite was the Constellation Lounge, great for wildlife spotting - ...

Pick any other ship, just not this one

We have cruises 6x and always on a different ship, and a different cruise line to mix it up. This was by far the worst. For some reason, most of the artwork on the ship displayed sadness, crying lost children, sad faced families in the dining hall. I can't put my finger on it, but there was not real gaiety on this particular ship. Even when we watched a show in the theatre, my husband slid ...

I choose this cruise because of the itinerary but was a little disappointed as the excursion seemed to offer the same things at every port. As usual the ships excursions were expensive compare to some offered at the port. There were only 3 ports of call and we did not arrive at two of them until late afternoon and although the ship sailed later we spent a lot of time sailing rather than ...

Very nice cruise on the Oosterdam

Got a great deal on cruise to Alaska on the Oosterdam so we took it. Since we live near the west coast and are seniors on a limited budget, but love cruising. We shop for cruise deals primarily from the west coast which limits us pretty much to Alaska and Mexico as destinations. This was our 16th cruise and second on HAL. In addition to HAL we have cruised Celebrity, Princess, Carnival Norwegian, ...

In September 1998 our family of 6 did Celebrity's Alaska Cruise on the Galaxy. At that time Celebrity had a reputation for being "above average". Their prices reflected this, being a bit more expensive than other lines doing the same route. We found the reputation accurate and enjoyed the cruise satisfied with the standards and happy that we received good value. Sadly, this time, 19 years later, ...
