We went on our own and explore the picturesque towns of Cinque Terre. I typed up a bunch of suggestions and a lot of detail in my overall cruise notes and am too lazy to do it all over again. But the main takeaway would be - Cinque Terre is a lot of fun but not built for cruise crowds, so if you are traveling during their peak season, I would recommend you do something else. La Spezia is billed as Pisa / Florence but it should not be. The only way you are getting to Florence in the time allotted is to take a shipboard shore excursion or arrange for a driver. The train station in La Spezia is quite far from the pier and is an hour to Pisa each way. Florence was 2.5 - 3 hours each way. We went to the Cinque Terre as been to Florence many times before. The train station is about 20 minutes walk through a nice town (walk along the sea shore to the marina then turn right and walk through a really nice town). The train station is a bun fight for tickets. Can you buy the ticket online as in the UK?? The Cinque Terre villages are amazing. Planning a weekend away here via Pisa Airport ...
